I decided to build another arcade machine for personal use (or work use), this time a two player bar-top machine that actually looks like a retro arcade.

I roughed the dimensions in using a 19 inch monitor on its own base, from there I exacted the dimensions in Sketchup to ensure it would fit ok. I had spare plywood from my last arcade build that needed to be used up. The joystick + buttons kit along with the game engine "Pandora's Box 3" as well as jamma cable harness was bought off of banggood.com for about 80-90 bucks total. I bought actual T-trim arcade molding from ebay for 10 bucks.

I routed a notch to put in T-trim molding which required a slot cutting tool for 20 bucks harbor freight (I can use this again).
For the audio system I bought an obsolete iphone/ipod dock stereo from Goodwill for $1.79 Monday special and gutted it for its auxiliary input. I placed a secret volume control under the top speaker mounting panel that can be accessed from the front of the arcade.
The backlighting for the logo marquee was made from led strip that I had left. I had incorporated two coin slots for future upgrading to coin operation.
I designed the logo myself in Photoshop really quick and it is a play off of the Nintendo logo. The clear acrylic panel that holds the logo is from a price sign at a Radio Shack store which I got for $5 since they were liquidating everything. Literally the weirdest purchase I've ever made.
All of the electronics are powered from a scrap PC power supply....
This project turned out more labor intensive than I had thought yet quite stress relieving. Most of time was in thinking about the design, sanding finishing work, wiring, painting, and playing with lighting for marquee. I'm really pleased of how it turned out however, I think it is quite an attractive machine.
