My Dog Died on the Job... DIY Concrete Tombstone 

I didn't want a dog. My son begged us to get one. Promising us the world and he would care for it. We got a yellow Lab when my son was 7 years old. When he went off to college he became my dog. He was my truck riding partner. I took him everywhere. He was 15 when he passed. One of the hardest days of my life. I'll never forget him.

Broke my heart and filled it up at the same time. Rest easy Max. They really just add so MUCH to our lives.

Very sorry for your loss! Pets are so very special to us, truly innocent and always giving of love. A roman epitaph for a pet is truly fitting, "I am in tears, while carrying you to your last resting place as much as I rejoiced when bringing you home in my own hands fifteen years ago." May you always fondly remember Max and the happiness he provided for you.

Not sure if liking the video is fitted due to the sadness of the story, but it's a nice way to respect your best friend. Sorry for your loss.

My cat died two months ago. It broke my heart. I will always love her and never forget her. Sorry about your dog. I am sure he was great.

I lost my boy last month, it was very hard. He was like my son. One thing for sure you will never love them as much as they love us. They are truly a gift from God. We will all meet again. My boy was Monte, he was a Pomeranian and lived almost 15years, he died just a couple weeks from his 15th birthday. Still not over it yet, but I know he is always with me. Love you buddy!

I could hear in your voice while you were talking , that you were getting a lump in your throat. I lost my beloved Golden Retriever , in 1991 & still 30 yrs later , I still tear up talking about her. wow, such an amazing video and god bless you big puppy, max and i hope he's looking after you guys. i think the tombstone idea was so great and the ending showing his life was so heartfelt! my wife and i have an 8 yr old 9lb yorkie and i can tell you we feel the same about our puppy...he's loved everyday and we wouldn't change a thing. i hope you find another amazing puppy! thanks for sharing max's life with us.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. For those who do not have pets in their family, they are not just pets to many of us! They are family and it hurts just as bad to lose them. We have lost three over the years and it it never easy. However, the unconditional love they gave us allowed us to find another two furry friends to share the journey with. I know Max will forever live in your heart! Mine do! Thanks

Such a wonderful tribute to your good ol boy. Same age as my pup when I had to put her down. One of the hardest days of my life. My pops loved her so much. He’s retired so I would let her spend a couple of months at a time with him at his house with him and the other dogs since I work all the time. She would sit in the front passenger seat when they’d go on trips. Everyone loved her. I know how much pain you and your family went through when Max passed. Rest In Paradise Max.

Thank you for sharing this. My dog cemetery has 7 of my old friends in it already. There are currently 5 beagles living in my house now. I built them a special 10' cairn out of rock and mortar as a monument to them, It faces a pressure treated Pi symbol of 12' timbers emulating a gateway. This all faces a creek at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. This all sounds fancier than it is. It's really about trying to honor and pay tribute to those special friends who make our lives more special and better on a daily basis. How to repay their loyalty and love? Well, you helped to show us how. Thank you for sharing this private moment with us. I hope when I die the first thing I see is all my furry friends running through green fields to meet me. Semper Fi.

sure brings sadness Dave but to see your response speaks volumes about you and the man you are as well as Max and the dog he was. We love our babies and grow very close to them. Our black Lab died last week aged 15. She was my mum's constant companion for over 6 years as she was rescued aged 9 and mum 84. They were perfect for each other and spent every day together in the garden. I am planning on a little grave in m um's garden for her casket and viewing headstones. Not sure I'm up to this but it is a wonderful video from someone who dearly loved their dog.

Sorry you lost Max. Your tombstone for him is wonderful. Out where he liked to be. A friend of mine has an old, well, some sort of blonde shorthaired large retriever. My friend knows that his dog, 'Dutchess', is near the time to be put down. Or, pass on her own. Dutchess is his best friend. Well, family. And, I love her too.

Truly a labor of love

Hope you find some peace and comfort yourself and know that Max will be waiting for you. I lost my best dog/friend 2 months ago. He was just over 10 years old and was very loved. He went outside late on Labor Day night and found and bit down on a rattle snake. Of course we rushed him to the ER vet then next day to his regular vet, where he died mid afternoon. We went and retrieved him and carried him home. He loved to ride in the truck but this was his last ride. We buried him out on our property next to his brother who preceded him by 3 years. Such sadness.

I so sorry 4 you my friend..... I was a animal rescue officer in Thailand and I also lost my best friend of my life while on duty my K9 his name was Khao Rom it means mountain because he was 109lbs and I love and miss him every day ... it is a unique pain that I feel it is unlike anything I have ever felt... I wouldn’t wish it on my mortal enemy . You will see your friend one day again...😊🙏🏻 I’m sure of it ! 🤝
