Well said. Always need to train in different places, creating habits EVERYWHERE.

Thanks for this. although you do go thru this in videos periodically , sometimes it hits just right at the right time. Example...i left work 30 minutes early today and came home to watch a video or two on youtube. Our 2 year old lab does ok with this, but there is always room for improvement...both for the dog and the handler. I stopped your video and took 20 minutes immediately to go out the front door, and do some of this work ON THE SPOT, while its fresh. Repeatedly hearing this type of stuff gets us out there and motivates us to continue advancing and improving our dogs. Where most of us owners fail (im guessing) is the Consistency. Getting out there often for shorter periods to work these issues and drills is the hardest part.

When I first started working on heeling and recall with my puppy (4 months old when we got her), her seeming lack of progress with it was extremely frustrating. We worked on it every day and she didn't seem to be improving at all after weeks at it. She was constantly pulling on walks, got easily distracted, and was hit and miss with her recall. However, after about 6-8 weeks, things finally started clicking and the improvement started becoming more noticeable to the point that we can now go on walks where I can take her off leash, give her the release command to wander and sniff, but she comes back pretty consistently to heel or come (she just turned 1 year old today). We're still working on getting it to 100% reliability when there are temptations or distractions, but she's doing great overall. Just keep at it, and don't let the seeming lack of progress discourage you. Be patient!!
