I find my dracaenas always go into shock when trying to improve the roots and it takes 6 months to a year for the plant to re-establish. I also try to use terracotta pots as these dry out better and help prevent root rot

I have also noticed that they can't take tap water at least my tap water. It has to many chemicals in it. Thank you for the video :)

Yes, Katie. Thanks for a great tip. That's true. I water all of my plants with tap water, but it stays in an open jars for at least two days before watering. Good point :)

@@AnnasViolets I try to use rain water but if I can't get any of that it's distilled or they get crunchy tips

Rain water is the best. Unfortunately, I'm living in a flat, and it's not really possible for me. I wish I could collect rainy water

@@AnnasViolets What you can use is freshwater aquarium conditioner to improve the condition of the tap water. I find the best one is usually the stress coat type. Plus you only need a tiny drop too, so it lasts a long time

Think I picked up the wrong soil for my Dracena Marginata after subjecting it to major surgery. Is there anything I can add to the dense soil to help its recovery? Worried it's not gonna make it. Great video bytheway!

It all depends on the roots. Are they rotting?

@@AnnasViolets Not that I know of. It had strong roots but it was 7 feet tall so I cut it down to 3 feet and no leaves left. I also cut the roots, and the soil doesn't seem to be as fluffy as the previous soil. Multi-purpose it was. I have put it on the balcony to get the strong morning sun, but I am worried it could start rotting due to how dense it is.

Hi, thank you for this video. Question on the larger dracaena you repotted... since the roots were not black and some even were so dry that they could easily flake off, does that mean they were being underwatered or overwatered? My struggling dracaena cintho's roots looked the same when i repotted it, and her leaves were/are growing very thin and long similar to the dracaena you repotted.
