I was never found of this car until now. When he explained about being so low to the ground, I got it. This car would definitely give an amazing low to the ground sensation. I had a Corvette back in the day and I loved that low to the ground feeling...

Rust has destroyed a significant number of these cars well beyond repairs. Finding one in solid condition is getting tough. Heart goes out to the father and this family.

Expert Mrs Donna is good for motivating people to change their bad habits of spending to better habits of savings. She does push advisors but considering her main target audience are people that have made bad financial decisions using an advisor although cost money might help them avoid bad decisions when it comes to investing too. The most important part is trading early for a long time and not panicking, Being too conservative can hurt your returns as well

Check 'Bring a Trailer' 'barn finds' 'hemmings' and others. I just purchased a nice original, rust free CA 914 that's running for $24k. There are still good "teeners" still out there in your price range. Don't give up!

I have a nice original one now and have had 3. Its funny people still think they are cheap. Most nice ones are in the 30-40 thousand range now. Who's laughing now?

The rusted chassis area shown in the video is from battery leakage which is typical. This is easily fixed. I would get a second opinion. $30K should be enough to restore this car if transmission is half decent. $10K paint, $10K for chassis and interior, $10K for engine. At the end of the day, the car will be worth $30K, at least in California.

I concur! I'm amazed that this story is on Fox Business to begin with. It would be nice to see a followup story. Porsche 914s are going up in value rapidly. Sentimentality aside, the family could also find a really nice driver for about $30K that doesn't need any work and the Dad could have it right away. 😁

My 1974 914 2.0 has been in my garage for longer than I'm willing to admit. My mother was the original owner! It was always my hope to have it restored. I started it maybe 10 or 15 years ago. It ran, but the injectors leaked so I shut it down. I would like to think it just needs new paint, tires, and injectors...rust isn't an issue here.

33:777 I had a 6 cylinder 1970 914 in 1973. I paid 3500. For it used. I totaled it after 1 month going around a turn too fast.

Reminds me of when I bought a pristine "71" 280Z. I got it in 87. I blew the head gasket the first month. Rebuilt the engine myself, Chiltens Manual (sorry about spelling). First time I did anything like that. Took a few months part time. I did everything right except the timing and a friend fixed that in like an hour. Within one month I burnt the clutch and it wasn't weak at all. The car had clearly not been mistreated until me... Fun but expensive at 17. Not to mention the $2000 speeding ticket I got in the process. They said in excess of 120. But when they clocked me I was just coasting from having pegged the speedometer at 160. In my defense. It was on an open highway with nobody around. That's the only reason I didn't go to jail on the spot. It was an expensive year.

I watched my 1st episode tonight. I had no idea, they sought people out simply to make them spend money they may or may not have. Surprise honey, I just spent 80k we don't have. S2-EP6 is about a Fairlane. They are currently up to 80k on the rebuild. So what does the show add to this? Makes no sense other than the producers seek out people like me and make them spend their own money. Very stupid. I'm done.

Had one in the early 80's. It was really a street legal Go-Cart. Sold it to a friend. C-Converter clogged and it burst into flames. A fitting End.
