Welcome to Automobile Atlanta aka Porsche 914 world headquarters. In this video, George Hussey, Dr. 914, owner of Auto Atlanta, takes you on a tour of the whole facility.
George, love to listen to your encyclopedic knowledge of 914s. The shop is amazing! Love the silver ‘75 2.0. My 1st car at 18 y/o living in SoCal in 1985 was a ‘75 1.8 white/blk with a/c. Totally stock save for “riviera” rims. Drove it everywhere in SoCal. Eventually it would just stop running at stop lights (wait a few minutes and it would start). Mechanic changed “brain” but could never fix issue. Also serviced at Porsche dealer a few times in Pasadena ($$$$$) they did a clutch job around $700 in 1980s that was a lot for college kid! Always have a warm place in my heart for the 914 though!
George, I stopped in while visiting some family in Dallas Ga about a year ago from NJ. You were so nice and gave me a quick tour of your place. Great video and thanks for the great parts n service when I need them to keep my 73 Zambezi 2.0 in top shape. Great Video
Great presentation, as usual!....great to see the place. Shipping is great, best purchase recently was the light bulb kit! I needed (2) fog/driving light bulbs...saw they had a "bulb kit". I've needed almost every one in the kit. They're all there...even the tiny ones for the the fog light switch.
It was great to see this again. I got a Yellow 914 2.0 back in 1994. I came to look at the cars in the rain....I was told that was you can get the best deals. George sold it to me for 2,000 and helped me with upgrade. Need to come by and say hi oneway soon.
I am really lucky in that I bought my first 914 from George in 1984 and I have seen the evolution to what Auto Atlanta is today. I am on my third 914, and attribute my love for these cars to this place and him. He is the most knowledgeable and dedicated person to the 914. Always will talk with you or mechanic regarding an issue. Buy his books!!
Great Video and really cool to see how much this place has changed since I first visited back in 1990? Somewhere around there. I remember the old building and all the sales guys working the phones taking orders.
That's the one thing that blows with getting parts made. Min. quantities. We did some power supply covers (the manufacturer wanted about $100 each) at about $10-15 our cost, but needed to buy a minimum of 1000. Fortunately they all sold. We priced at $35-50.
Love watching your 914 videos. I used to own a '73 2.0 and a '74 2.0 both with appearance group. Since those days I've learned how valued those Porsches really were and regret letting them go.
I’ve had a slant nose 2.0 I found a 1973 2.0 and I’m about to travel back to America to pick up my 70to 2.0. The 914 are the best. Hopefully you get another soon
My father owned a couple. The first (the green one) met it's demise at the shop, dropped off the list, mu father cried. The second (yellow) was parked on the street. A flatbed pulled up next to it, an old clunker blocked the driveway, and what looked like 6 linebackers lifted it up and placed it on the flat bed, never to be seen again. My father cried again. I never witness him cry again. I loved riding in it as a young boy. I hope to buy one someday.
Very nice workshop for 914,, only you there, I think you need some help to rebuild all these Porsches. Might be Sunday, but very good job to save this cars, I love them, is a part of a history.
@@autoatlantainc.2267 Hi Doug Franks I got 1974 yellow 914. It was a cold rainy day and I remember your voice over the PA telling me to step away from the 914 lol i bought that car and you really helped me get it running great. I will come by in November 2021.
Hi from Australia. Love your videos. Was just wondering what the red "monstrosity" was @35.45 ? I can see it is the rear end of a 928 but can't make out the rest. Thanks
Hello sir. I'm Bob Rose from UK. I was an engine builder from cosworth at the start of the 1990s through to the 2000s. And I've retired from cosworth March 18/3/2022. But if I lived in the states. I'd love to work there. Kind regards Bob Rose Northampton UK.
Of all the crappy places, why Atlanta? I have a bone stock 93 Del Sol Si 1.6 four cylinder that puts out about the same hp as a 914/6. Also has a targa top 5 speed, AC, FWDBs all for $1800.
