@@CyrahLia_459Not so sure Scylla was gonna be happy about recieving six rotten corpses, sea travel takes a long time, besides they are a nymph of sorts just like she was.
Yeah, there were also synths. Penelope’s instrument is a violin. There were little to no violins in her part so we knew it wasn’t her. Another thing is that synths are usually played when a supernatural force is around.
No Jorge released a part of scylla, and we heard part of thunder bringer (at least for me I honestly have not heard anything from suffering and different beast, but that might just be me)
Scylla is even telling him "We're lonely demons from hell, and you're a monster just like me for sacrificing your men" All of her lines sink into Odysseus and his second. Pushing his second to confess, and for Odysseus to make the call to randomly select 6 men to die so they could escape.
@@Valfara770 They have had the misfortune of getting caught in the crossfire between harpies and mermaids. And now a days they get associated more with the older evil aspects mermaids used to have.
The fan theory is that Polities kept track of the calendar for the crew (so he would know when everyone's birthday was!). Since he died no one has been keeping track and Odysseus is just guessing at this point.
About the 12 or 10 years thing, in the actual Odyssey it was 12 years at that point, but Epic the musical didn't really justify 2 extra years had passed since the Trojan War (although it's not implausible). So it was meant to be 10 years in There Are Other Ways, but since they made an oopsie Jorge basically said to make up whatever headcannon we want about those extra 2 years.
Honestly you could just say that between some of the saga’s there has been enough sailing time that passed to be at least 2 years. I don’t think it’s that hard to explain away.
If I’m remembering correctly, in Greek mythology Sirens are fated to die when a ship hears their song and passes by unharmed, so simply killing them, let alone cutting off their tails and letting them drown, feels a little gratuitous. Odysseus really went extra for this
I love how all reactors "passam pano" (defend Odi) at the begginig... and then when he says to cut off their tails and let them drown... everyone's like... "uhm, ok, we were on the same page until one second ago" LOL
Great to see another kiwi fan of Epic! I've been trying to get friends and family into it since the Ocean saga released, but sadly very little success so far.
Yes, on there are other ways Jorge made a mistake on the numbers and no one caught it. He accidentally said 12 instead of 10. He made a tiktok about it, but he just had to roll with it because well, the other song is already released so he can't backtrack now and say 10. Saying about 12 years or so is like a cover up of sorts
Yeah the way the sirens were treated was cruel, but it was also pretty efficient all things considered. Odysseus has truly embraced that ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves.
Glad to see a reaction uploaded this early, but yeah Odysseus is for sure a lot more brutal than before. Like in Survive and Remember Them I was fully rooting for the crew but I kinda just felt bad here when he was saying to let them drown and kill them all
The general theory for the 12 years line is the crew not knowing how long they've been going home, since Polites was the one who kept track of the calender
It's crazy, odysseus doesn't even realize he's becoming more of a monster than being ruthless. He could've killed them quickly but he specifically made his men cut off their tails and let them drown. A horrible way to die. I mean I don't blame him
The 12 long years thing was a nod to the way Jay got it wrong 😭 basically on accident instead of saying 10 long years he said 12 instead but in the odyssey it makes sense especially since in the actual poem he spent a fair amount of time at circes abd at sea which explains the extra years but in the musical it was just a mistake that he was talking about as a little nod and an inside joke, additionally it does cover his mistake bc it allows us to take odysseus' words more as an off the cusp statement over the truth creating the ambiguity:)
Ok everyone is all, "wow that's brutal" about him throwing them back into the water to drown, but I think most people miss the fact that that is litterally their own MO, sirens lure sailors overboard and drown them, he gave them the fate they would have given him.
Where are your other reactions, though? Are they only Pateon? Or have you not reacted before until now? I can only see thunder saga, and the new versions of Troy Saga and cyclops saga reactions. But other than that great reaction, I love it so much finally, someone reacted to this as early as possible! Also, when is the last three songs reaction?
I don't understand why so many people are reacting to the story and not the actual music. The Odyssey is OLD like INSANELY old and that's the story/poem/books (whatever you want to call them) that the musical is taken from, it's not just some madeup story using greek mythology characters (though I guess that's technically what the actual story is). I see comments about people saying "wonder what X meant by this" in the older songs or "can't wait to know what he does next" like seriously has nobody read the insanely popular and amazing piece of literature that is The Odyssey
This is a new adaptation and a new interpretation of an old story, the original Odissey is not a love story and it doesn't follow the mercy/ruthlesness motif.
@@benjaminrecalde7628 Yes but a lot of the plot points are accurate to the story especially the ones people are shocked about. Like “a palace covered in red faces of men who long believed you’re dead” is obviously when he killed all the suitors but people are still shocked by it
