Dual-Z with top mounting brackets require you to have a pretty much perfectly straight z-rod, otherwise all the minor wobble that was previously being released on the free floating top, will transfer straight into your parts.
@bami2
@bami2 4 месяца назад
Top mounting brackets in these kits are not rigid, they allow about a mm flex in all directions and won't constrain the z-rods enough (unless they are really warped) to transfer the wobble to the gantry, print head and parts.

Nice mods! I live in Port Neches TX which is little over an hour and a half north of you. I am in the process of designing some DIY photo booth parts and would like to eventually scale it to a print farm. Love the videos! Very encouraging. Someone is selling an Ender 3 v2 on Facebook marketplace out of Spring for $100.

FYI your link for the M4 screw assortment is the same as for the 5015 blower fan. Nice set of upgrades. Will be doing these for my Ender3

With the price all of these upgrades I feel like just starting with an Ender 3 S1 would be better.

I think you may be right. The s1 for $400 would be totally worth it. Unfortunately I started this farm before the s1 was even thought of. If I started from scratch today I would probably buy all s1s

@@collect3d you had said you planned to replace the v2 s with the Ender 6. Would you go with the s1 or Ender 6 just starting out?

This basically makes it into an s1 lol. As others have said. Like you, I bought v2's as well but only 2 of them, so I'm tempted to continue buy more s1 pro's and maybe just doing an upgrade like you did to my v2's so they can hopefully hang with the rest of them. I just hope it's similar enough to where I can treat them like the same printer lol

Hi, thanks for the video. Also having the same hardware on all machine allows for only 1 firmware version. Otherwise it would be a nightmare! ;) For my Ender 3 Pro I went with the OMG V2S extruder + the small motor. It's very lightweight, and kept the original hotend. Also added a second Z, and since I could afford it, I went with the Black Knight Linear Rail upgrade kit. I love my 3 years old Ender 3 :)

Really cool videos, keep them up! I have an ender 3v2 print farm also, currently with 12 printers. Recently I've been thinking of the possibility of using octoprint or a similar software in order to save the hassle that is using SD cards. Could you make a video about it?

That is a great selection of mods. Since it is about $420 after upgrades, is there another printer on the market under $420 that would perform as well as this modded one?

It seems like the Ender 3 S1 is a pretty close alternative. Looking back if I was starting over, I would purchase all Ender 3 S1s and install klipper. But I have learned so much just by modding and tinkering with the Ender 3 v2. if I was strictly trying to save time, id go with the S1

@@collect3d I'm interested to see how the ribbon cables on the S1 hold up. I've heard someone say they can break down over long hrs printing
@waynefilkins8394

@@NathanBuildsRobots i have 1 s1 and 1 s1 pro and been printing most of the day since around the time they came out. No problems with cables yet, but they aren't as great as I expected. They are a little less hassle than my v2's though, i'd say they are worth about what they cost. I haven't had a prusa but from what I have heard about them they sound probably better than s1 and s1 pro, so it's about where it should be for the price. I'll never buy v2's again, but not sure if i'll buy any more s1's either. just my 2 cents

Looks like some great mods! Since your elephants foot video I did a anti backlash nut and it's helped tremendously without doing the dual Z axis. I can still never get my first layer absolutely perfect on the entire bed due to the non supported side lagging behind on the first few layers. I've just seen alot of issues with the stepper motors no syncing perfectly and the belted setups seem to stress the single stepper too much, belted and stepper seem to be ideal for a dual Z setup. Did you do an anti backlash nut in both sides now?
@collect3d
@collect3d 2 года назад
No backlash nut for this setup. It's solid without it. The sync belt helps keep things steady.

Hello!! very good video!! but I have a question, I also bought the double Z axis with its double Z motor and I also put its belt on it so that they would be synchronized but I can't make both systems work at the same time! if I leave them, each motor wants to work at its own pace and the belt stops them, so I opted to use only the belt and a single Z motor, how did you manage to use the two motors and the timing belt? Could you make a video showing how to put the two systems simultaneously?, you would be the first in all youtube to have a video like that! because I have searched everywhere and never found a solution, so this would be a very good idea for a video that would help many people

I use a splitter that controls both Z motors from one single connection.

Hey have you ever had a problem with the filament not feeding ?
@collect3d
@collect3d Год назад
Yes, It can be a bit tricky sometimes, you need to make sure the gears are properly aligned and that there isnt any filament stuck in the extruder path just past the gears before the hotend. I bought the noclogger tool for when this happens and it really helps clear up any stuck filament.

I want to do this direct drive can you help me out with some info please!? Did you change anything on the firmware? Did you lose build volume?? How bout the firmware you're using ?? Any extra hardware needed for the h2 ? Thank you
@collect3d
@collect3d Год назад
I lost 20mm on the Y axis. I changed the rotation distance according to the recommendation in the h2 instructions. I am using klipper firmware. Just upgraded the cooling fan to a 5010 blower is the only additional item I purchased.

I know I'm late finding your video so you may not be able to help. I'm trying to find the fan duct you used. The link appears to take me to the correct duct but when downloaded it's an entirely different design. Do you still have a copy of the .stl file you used? Thanks in advance.
@collect3d
@collect3d 7 месяцев назад
I actually stopped using this fan setup, it was not sufficient at properly cooling the model evenly. It would only cool from the right side causing the left side of my prints to be really ugly. My advice is to use any of the other fan mounts that have ducts on both sides of the nozzle. I currently use the "fang" style found on thingiverse. Initially I wanted to leave the gear wheel exposed so I can manually move it, but I found that was less of a priority than proper cooling. www.thingiverse.com/thing:5202213

Thank you for the reply. I'll take your advice. I'm using one of the recommended ones at the moment & it's working well. Like you I was looking for one that would allow access to the wheel - seems it's not to be.

@@collect3d thank you! I'll see how the holes match up with the other one I have that's listed for the v1. So it looks like it lines up with the other design. @collect3d

That will depend on where you choose to mount the bl touch but how I have it on the video the offset is x_offset: -34.4 y_offset: -1.1 This puts the nozzle exactly at the probe pobe points.
