Hey everyone - hope you're all doing well? Sorry for the dearth of content recently. I've been battling some issues with my hands, making playing very frustrating right now. I wanted to share this awesome cab that I got hold of recently and the new recording setup I've put together since buying an Antelope Orion Studio Synergy Core audio interface for my new PC. Hope you enjoy the video and let me know if you have any questions about the setup below! Tom
I know I’d personally want to see a video of you talking about the hand issues and maybe you’re approach to recovery. Been dealing with frustrating hand issues myself (fingers locking) for the past couple years.
@@andrewPEVNY same my friend..my story took a dirt road and now my ankles feet knees biggest battles.. minor in hands and arms compared to before treatment..see a Dr and get rheumatologist referral..
Hope it all works out....perhaps you'll get inspired and do film sountracks or another musical avenue that's not so performance based. I was recently involved in a car accident and the air bag in the steering column went off bending back both my thumbs.....needless to say I understand your frustration.
Sounds soooo great!! As much as I like the Kemper and neural dsp plugins, a good tube amp with good speakers and good mics is still the best scenario when you have the possibility to do it! Wish you a quick recovery with your hands!
Here's to hoping recovery is quick! And that recording setup...must be tough to leave that room! Great tones and the playing, always inspirational. Looking forward to more content.
Cheers Paul! It's awesome and the added bonus of being in it's own room is that my incredibly hairy cat doesn't sleep on it. She has a thing for amps and cabs.
Glad you're back.. . Hope everything is well... Your sound is now much richer... Tom hope you can do a tutorial about getting good tone out of your amps... Kudos!...
Wishing you all the best Tom. Although it’s not really the same, I was in a motorcycle accident several years ago leaving me with some physical limitations. Dealing with ones body failing to produce the sounds you hear in your head can and is enormously frustrating. Hopefully this all gets sorted out for you soon. Thanks so much for the video.
Such a pleasure to hear you playing through a real amp, the true touch and feel of your fingers really comes through, the dynamic control even during the longer legato runs is gorgeous!!!!
I’ve owned a Zilla fat boy 2x12 for around 6-7 years now and it is killer.. Tom your tones on this sound beautiful! I especially love the jubilee! Paul and the Zilla guys are amazing! Highly recommended 🙌🏻
I´m beyond surprised, I´ve been thinking for several months to buy this EXACT cab, no jokes. Brand, speaker configuration, tolex, piping, everything. BTW, you make it sound HUGE, congrats man!
Tom, great video as always. I love your playing! Really sorry to hear about the health issues with your hands. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Wishing you a speedy return to strength.
Great to see and hear you playing again, Tom! I hope that the various therapies suggested and recommended have a long-term positive effect and that you can continue to innovate and lead from the front for decades to come!
Sounds fantastic. Any product that Tom buys for himself gets my attention every time. Hope the issues with the hands gets sorted quickly. I've got a thing going on with my left & understand the frustrations of getting a solid diagnosis. Best wishes.
Huge gear envy! This sounds fantastic! (This video came on autoplay BTW, and without seeing the screen I heard the intro playing and thought to myself “oh, that must be Tom” 😂)
Man, these are great tones!! Absolutely love the zilla Cabs !! Cannot recommend it enough ... I play a Zilla 4x12 with V30/H75 Creamback Mix. Sounds Killer ! Tom, good to see you again, all the best to you ! Beside the really good digital solutions it´s great to see and hear a mic´d Cab!! Looking forward to see some more , cheers
I listened to this on my tablet, hence the immediate thumbs up (I don't sign in to YT on it because YT isn't smart enough to cope with me watching "ancient alien pyramid building banana spiders" on the bog without thinking I want that in my main feed :O) A suggestion for vids to save your fingers would be a complete run down of your recording, camera, & video editing setup, especially as you use a PC not a Mac. i.e. Give us the full skinny on everything you use, and make it as long, detailed, and in-depth as you like. Our middle name is, after all, "geek".
Big love Tom. You're a mega player and I wish you all the best. This cab sounds beast, but you do have a knack for demos. I left this vid really wanting a laney funnily enough lol.
Tom, I’m new to your channel, I was watching the Wampler Ratsbane video for your comments and I’m sure I’m the seventh person to tell you, your playing is stellar. Are you a Randy Rhoads guy?
Holy Crap you're not going to believe this, i was looking for videos on this cab..i saw this video and clicked on it to hear what it sounded like, all while this guitarist was talking i was thinking "this guy has a really nice setup" as it went on i was thinking "this guy is on a pro level" THEN....i looked at the name...i didn't know what Tom Quayle looked like, i listened to his playing but never really paid attention.... pretty cool "holy shit " moment for me.... i'm ordering this cab :)
Thanks Tom. I had problems with my index finger, just would not work, I do have arthritis (rheumatoid) My consultant said it was likely a trapped nerve and would sort itself over time. Well it did I'm thankful to say, and it must have been a trapped nerve. I hope you can get your problem resolved soon. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Thanks for all the inspiration Tom. Hope you get your hand issues sorted soon. Your playing still sounds better than the rest - so don't worry too much.
Question about the speakers .Is the 8 ohm V 30 in parallel with the 16 ohm Creamback . Is the amp happy with the odd impedance or has there been an extra balancing resistor added to bring the overall impedance back to 8 ohms ??
Great to see you. So sorry you are having to think about your hands rather than just getting on with playing. You must put in so much actual mileage, like an olympian basically. probably need a rest. Hope all is on the mend asap. Lovely set up, can you incorporate the L20T combo output without the internal speakers?
Dear Tom, I have been thoroughly enjoying your lesson videos. Solo might be the best investment I've ever made in terms of app purchases. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge, I wish you a very prompt recovery!
Hi Tom, briefly about you hands, look up carpol tunnel, it is a ligament at our wrist which with age and use puts pressure on our finger nerves.. easy out patient, procedure a 6 week recovery, 6 months for full strength recovery.. Well Worth it.. I had it done on both hands...
Hey Tom. Yep Zilla are the best! I have a custom one and it sounds great :) Totally understand your frustration as I’ve been having issues in the same fingers for about 2 years now. Not managed to find anything that helped so far. May I ask who your specialist is please as I’d be very interested in getting in contact with them? Thanks! All the best
Seek medical advice as soon as possible. You don't want to do anymore damage. I also have hand issues. BTW I have (2) 1x12 cabs from Zilla, one of them is a Fat Baby with a Celestion 75 W at 8 Ohms and a mini Modern with an Alnico Cream 90 W at 8 Ohms, paired with a Mesa Boogie California Tweed amp head. It is glorious.
Hi Tom, great video , i bought solo, you could put more insructional videos to get the most of it , put some backing tracks too , is a great tool , thanks.
Oh brother... these symptoms started a real bad road for me.. psoriatic arthritis crushed me after getting moderna vax a year ago...can barely walk due to ankles and feet swollen stiff painful..no recourse for any of the injured...I'm far from alone.. anyway I hope you have luck w treatment for the issues y are battling! Terrible for anything to keep you from playing the way u want..
I 've tried a Zilla Cab in person, sounded great with both an EVH and an Orange. Pity BREXIT limits them on the island since EU's import taxes make them unreachable for us plebs..
Don’t wait too long to see the specialist Tom… If there is some kind of nerve impingement for example, waiting for diagnostic clarity and an effective intervention may potentially lead to permanent nerve damage etc. Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹
