While I don’t disagree with your dietary regimen, the reality is, people of your age often have good blood work, regardless of diet. I’m a doc with a weight loss and HRT clinic. I have 19 year old patients who are morbidly obese with relatively clean blood work, considering their phenotype. Edit: since people keep implying I’m saying diet doesn’t matter, I’m not. My point is if you’re younger and active, then having good blood work does not imply that your diet is dialed in. It can be buffered by younger age and exercise.

I think it's elegant and simple that in today's world, and hopefully even more going forward, we have a pretty good agreed upon set of biomarker ranges we can measure where done intelligently and one variable at a time, diet, from a health perspective at least, simply becomes a non-dogmatic and dispassionate game of "what optimizes my biomarkers?" Of course if you're a regular person there is enjoyment, social events, etc to consider, but at its core and minus dogma, it's very simple

I am doing 2-3grams proteins per kilo body weight. A wild guess, I think my protein intake is probably around 40%-65% of my daily calorie intake. I also get my fats from: *Fishoil (2grams)* *Nuts (wallnuts(3-5), Pecan(6-10) nuts and nigella seeds(1tspoon)), cocoa (5-10grams)* *Butter(5-10grams)* *Ground beef(40-60grams)* *Eggs(2-6)* *Olive oil(2-4 spoons)* And I get around *100-120 grams of carbs* per day.

I think eating intuitively has mostly worked for me. I cook most meals and usually make what feels tasty in the moment because I trust my body will tell me what it needs. Have had bloodwork in range for past 10 years even with completely different diets: from carnivore, to high carb, to low carb, to more mcdonalds and caffeine. The difference is on some diets my workout performance suffers (i never adapted to keto). Some diets give me more cognitive energy and focus (low fat), but it will have a downside (e.g. affects digestion). I've gone gluten free with good effects (mental clarity, workout performance), but also bad effects (stress, anxiety, insomnia) even with supplementation. I believe in eating everything, but also cycling them out to minimize negative effects.

So for instance my Italian ancestors ate what we call a Mediterranean diet but with more consumption of animal protein, whereas on my other side being south Asian who used coconut oil along with ghee and consumed meat. So I guess what I’m asking is does your tolerance for certain dietary elements maybe differ from someone who has less benefit from that same food? Sorry I’m thinking out loud. Cheers.

I've studied human and animal nutrition. Cows need to eat a lot of protein because they produce a lot of protein rich milk. They get their liver ruined over the years by having a bunch of ammonia constantly circulating in their blood stream. I wouldn't translate that to humans, but I would also not say that eating any amount of protein is good for the human body. Generally it can't hurt to increase your protein intake mainly due to plant protein. It's missing from our diets and beans also deliver important fibers and secondary nutrients.

Even with "maintaining" target of 2000kcal and target weight of 85-90kg (I'm 185cm tall and this weight in lean mass should be optimal) - proteins target by mass will be around 30%, 35% for fats and only 35% is left for carbs Not quite clear what proportions should play better within these specs

Hello loyal subscriber for 5 years. Could you please do a video on fish? I've been eating 2-days of nothing but sardines, preceding a 2-day fast, as an easier way to get into ketosis. I'm curious about sardines, salmon & wild caught yellowfin tuna, but I believe canned tuna isn't terrific

High fat and olive oil are not good for everyone. Just adding 1 to 2 tablespoon of olive oil per day increases my LDL to almost 120 mg/dL. I have to keep my fat intake (from whole foods only) down to under 20% and saturated fat to under 3% to get my LDL to 90 mg/dL. I also limit my refined sugars to zero (glucose at 81, HbA1c at 5.1) to keep my LDL under 100.

your intro confuses me. First you say that food is less of a driver of longevity than we think then you immediately follow that with food is a means to achieve better blood work and biomarkers. Isn't that second statement literally counter to your first statement? If food is a driver of your blood work then food is a large driver of longevity. Your bloodwork is a reflection of lifestyle, heavily influenced by diet. @2:41 I just had to stop as you can't even read that graph. You said 15% to 25% shows the lowest risk of all cause mortality yet the graph shows the trough on the low range, high range and average at around 18% then they go up from there with the high end of the averages back over 1.0 at about 21. Your 25 claim, even you put the red arrow there, is when you cross back up above 1.0 when you could have been well below 1.0 for the average person just keeping you % protein to 18 to 20%. Are you doing this on purpose?

I eat 1 lbs of hamburger (minced beef) and egg yolk (egg nog) with collagen a day ... easy peasy
@marcusryder95
@marcusryder95 Месяц назад
Don’t use collagen. Eat lots of vegetables inc leafy greens plus lots of nuts and seeds and you’ll make all the collagen you need. Even looked at the skin of vegetarians and vegans who just eat whole foods. Their skin is amazing. Drink lots of water and get 8 hrs sleep will help too.
@jamesatkinson5805
@jamesatkinson5805 Месяц назад
Collagen is mostly in things like a good bone broth or chicken soup, but you are only going to have so much of that in a day. Organ meats, which most people don't eat and in other, gelatinous products like Chicken skin, cartilage, bone marrow also pigs feet and chicken's feet which again most people don't eat or will never eat at all are high. A good option is also gelatin itself which people could have in things like Jello, but glycine is very important even though someone can make it themselves is high in collagen products. But as far as vegetables those aren't good sources and vegans and vegetarian diets are the worst diets if people are looking for optimal health, especially as someone ages. They are side dishes
@marcusryder95
@marcusryder95 Месяц назад
@@jamesatkinson5805 just eat veggies and you’ll produce lots of collagen. Im vegan and have been for over ten years. Im 50 and have the best skin. That wouldn’t be the case is my body didn’t produce collagen. Ever noticed that vegans have the best skin and eyes. A good reason for it.

@@jamesatkinson5805 Please provide some evidence that vegan diets are the worst diets, especially for aging. I guess Bryan Johnson who is spending over $1 million per year on his own longevity got his diet wrong, so he should also know what evidence you have. He is definitely open to changing. For example, he increased his calories from 1,977/day to over 2,200, believing that calorie restriction is not as important.
