What an adventure. This was interesting and fun, full of adventure and intrigue, including eiry music, creepy insects, ancient mysterious unknown objects, and technological challenge. Eli, you could make solitary confinement seem interesting. I predict all this hard work, especially the room scans, will be used someday in a really fun, kickass video game. In the mean time you are having the time of your life, improving your skills, and making a living by sharing it with us. Win win & LOL. You go girl.

Somehow I missed this video. What a great video! Even a hint of menace, almost like _Blair Witch Project._ I just hope whomever was in charge of this project tested the air, considering that it appears no one was wearing a dust mask even when all that debris was being shoveled. Who knows what kind of spores, lead dust, or other irritants, became airborne...

Your videos are absolutely awesome. When I was younger, I spent time in Wertheim, Germany. We would investigate many of the tunnels located under the kaserne, as well as the local castle. But be careful! The Germans would booby trap or flood many of their tunnels to prevent exploration, especially towards the end of the war. Ah! To be young again and fearless.

Many old fortresses in Europe were regularly modernised. As artillery became more powerful and with the dawn of air power, the only way to make forts more resilient and survivable was to dig new tunnels under the existing structure. As ammo dumps and living quarters were relocated deeper, older rooms closer to the surface were often filled in with rubble and sand to provide extra protection against bombing/shelling. Guns were relocated in turrets making many casemates and ports redundant. Shafts linking combat blocs to underground living quarters were built, making many corridors redundant. Older forts received mechanical ventilation/pressurisation systems to evacuate fumes and provide protection against combat gasses. Thus, older ventilation shafts were often transformed or walled in and new ones were dug through...
@petrklic7064
@petrklic7064 2 года назад
This sounds like it does not make much sense to empty rooms filled by sand. Because only thing you can find there is... sand. And few pieces of junk.

There were many projects of exploring and digging in some old nazi undergound factories. But they never found anything interesting or valuable. Nazis were paying attention to not leave there any valuable documents or archives.

What a wonderful video Eli. As a retired history teacher. I commend you and your young colleagues for all of your efforts. People think a treasure hunt will be fun. But proper archeology and historical restoration is actually very hard work. Your work to help restore and document the fortress of Baltiysk is a very important thing. Helping to record history people will be able to use for centuries to come. It's also another chapter in the many experiences that you have done in your life. If you do not become a producer of documentaries. I think you would be an excellent author. Good luck to you in all of your future endeavors.

@@pauldove966 Eli is an enterpreneur like Kostantin so don't be surprised they defend each others, even if they have different point of view. They are on the web just to make money, it's a job. So they keep a foot in both camps: the government that subsized them (please look at the chechen, komi, yakuts, daghestani videos they are all the same for every young youtuber that came over there, they have the same guides etc etc) RT for Eli (the kirby's promotion) then western media (Instagram never pay anybody: only if you sponsor some product) but yeah kostantin is right YT for a 300k channel can pay you from 2000$ up to 4000$ monthly which are HUGE money in Russia but also in the west. Of course a youtuber has fixed costs (video editor, hahah do you really believe the fable eli does everthing by herself? the travels, the russian teacher of her club, etc etc) you can have a lot of analytics on the web, eg www.noxinfluencer.com . Then she has the russian speaking club (I don't know the size but just think: YT and instagram are fish nets so even if the 5% of the 300.000 decide to pay the 30$ monthly it is a good income) while the russian speaking club accept money via telegram, YT do bank transfer: and ELi has a state bank and her postepay doesn't work in Russia (but it works outside). Niki has tinkoff bank which is not sanctioned but they ask 200$ for every transaction so if you receive 4000 2000$ in one transfer it is still ok but if YT pays you on a daily basis your money are eaten. keep in mind anyway she flew from 100k (800$) to 300k thanks for the american curiosity about ukraine's war but she suffered sanctions so proabably she didn't had the joy of monetizing the sudden interest. So, back to the question: where she got the money last year for travelling inside russia and outside? having not founded the russian SC and with few income with YT, the only answer is..the gov!!!! she's an enterpreneur so she takes money from whoever. So maybe this lostantin and maybe others only when the Special War Operation started some had a soul exam and they distanced and left Russia. But they'll never admit the guilty of having taken money from the gov since they think it was done before 24th february. Kostantin says eli is anti putin but telling the truth she has said she is not proud of the "current events" but never challenged any political decision so she is either a mild supporter of Putin or a girl that just need money for her , her family and the luxuries of travel (kilimangiaro's trip was worth 4k at least).

I can feel the smell of old cement. I did similar exploring on my home island of Gotland 2 weeks ago. Fortress built outside my home village of Fårösund after the Crimea war 1850ies. At that time there where no defence and Sweden just had to except English and French ships using the strait as a safe harbour in the war against Russia. They spread cholera and killed a third of the population. When i grew up Gotland was quite fortified against a Soviet invasion and my father was a military engineer so i grew up in the more modern versions of such bunkers. Always begged to go with him in my free time. His boss did not mind because I started actually service simple equipment like phones at age 5. Some places on Gotland are a mix of old and new like this place. A bunker from WW2 next to the ring wall of Visby from 1200- and some modern equipment behind a trap door. Need to got to bed and dream of my childhood. Thanks! I finish tomorrow.

A fascinating project. The money wasted on making and firing a single pointless hypersonic missile expended on some children's hospital in Ukraine would/could have advanced this project immensely while also presenting Russia in a much more positive light. I am wondering if any of the sand place in voids there served some kind of structural purpose or was it just put there to close off a passageway or room for an unknown reason?

Oh a star shaped fort cool ,so i googled star forts,wow those things are every where from old ruins to ones still being used crazy ,even in America the Statue of Liberty is sitting on a star fort,there is more to this than just star shaped forts,85 percent are near water or built on water.

I loved this video, Elina. It was kind of spooky going down those tunnels.

Eli, congratulations, this is by far your best video to date. Please, you and all the team, be extra careful. Many of the artefacts you are handling could potentially be highly dangerous. I know all about explosives because we used them extensively in my previous job and with time they can become unstable. Take care, but keep exploring!
