I went to Australia on a tourist visa back in 2019 and really fell in love with it. Unfortunately when I went to apply for the WHV covid happened. Now that the country is open for WHV holders I'm thinking of applying and going back. Thanks for the insight!

Hey thanks for the great video! I am just wondering on a WHV, would it be possible for me to work in my area of study (mine would be HR/Recruitment) or do employers generally just take you on for casual work like bars, farming etc?
@nomadictimbo9185
@nomadictimbo9185 2 года назад
Thank you very much:). Good question! I'm not 100% sure, but it's definitely worth a shot. If you are going for your area of study and you've already done 90 days of harvesting or labour work to get a 2nd year visa and you then explain that to a company where you want to work in HR/Recruitment, then that'll definitely help your chances. Also I recommend getting an RSA (Responsibility/Services/Alcohol) certificate. The course only lasts a day and once you gain that certificate, it'll at least make it relatively easy for you to get a job in the hospitality industry.

Thanks, Tim. Great video. I'm planning to go in September and found your experience really interesting. Did you have any places you wanted to be at a certain time? I'd quite like to be in Melbourne over Christmas, but worried that I might be limiting myself if I have a concrete plan like that. Basically, did you just completely go with the flow? I'm quite a planner, but think maybe being more flexible would be better.
@nomadictimbo9185
@nomadictimbo9185 Год назад
Thanks Natalie. I'd say between May and September, Queensland and Northern New South Wales are good options. Haven't been to Northern Western Australia and/or Northern Territory, but they'll be good options too. Between October and April, I'd recommend Victoria, most of New South Wales and Western Australia. Haven't been to South Australia, Tasmania or ACT, but they maybe good too. IMO a balance between planning and being open minded and flexible is a good move. Overall though, I'd say it's better to be more flexible because there maybe places you don't know about that'll be even better than where you were planning to visit.

@@nomadictimbo9185 thanks so much, Tim. I’m very much in the “information overload” phase of my planning now, but this is definitely helpful advice. And good to hear about the Irish pub - I’m a half-Scottish redhead so hoping that’d be an easy hire for me!

@@nataliehargrave2605 you'll definitely be able to get a job at an Irish pub in that case haha

How to apply to this visa and apply for work?
@nomadictimbo9185

It depends which country you come from. Best thing to do is check the website for the Australian Embassy in your country.

Can a work & holiday visa turn into another visa to stay in Australia for a longer period?
@nomadictimbo9185
@nomadictimbo9185 2 года назад
You can earn a 2nd year Working Holiday Visa by working and getting signed off by employers on the relevant jobs required for a 90 day period. Also, when I was there, a 4 year Sponsorship Visa was also possible and probably still is.
