My EXPERIENCE so far with the Uneekor Eye Mini - REAL REVIEW 

Great Review - I too am an EYE MINI owner, but a mere mortal when it comes to golf. To lend context to these comments I a senior citizen who has about 3 years of playing experience. I am a 16 handicapper, who wants to break 80 one day. In search of the right launch monitor for myself I have tried the R10 (before RCT balls), the Rapsodo MLM2PRO, and the SkyTrak+, and now the Eye Mini. Space requirements, missed shots, misreads, connectivity issues, short game problems are just some of the reasons those units were returned. If the Eye Mini wasn't on sale I probably would have passed on it and tried the BLP next as I worked my way up the pricing ladder. Here is my experience with the Eye Mini after about 2 weeks. Connectivity - I had no issues at all BUT I started with an iPad and got the EM connected to my Wi-Fi on the first attempt. I have never used the included ethernet cable and have connected over the Wi-Fi on my cable modem to both the iPad and now a PC. The Eye Mini retains a connection and re-connects on power up with no issues and is always found by the View software. It has even received one Firmware update over this same connection. This part of setup was absolutely awesome compared to Rapsodo and/or SkyTrack+ on my network. I finally felt like I was going to be playing golf and get to stop playing with tech. HARDWARE - Absolutely LOVE the screen which Joe did not mention. It is fantastic. Battery life is also amazing, easily 6 hours. Alignment seems to be a guessing game for me, it seems like a simple enough process, but I really don't feel like I always have it aligned - why they did not put a straight face on the front of the base to help with the alignment is beyond understanding. A leveling stand would have been a good addition as well, like those sold for the SkyTrak and the Garmin R10… (hmmm anyone have a 3D printer?) SOFTWARE - The launcher on the PC doesn't bother me and View app on either the PC or the iPad is good, I think the PC version is more complete and I wish the iPad version matched its additional features. BOTH are unbelievably fast compared to anything else I have used, and it shows what is possible in photometric units (unlike SkyTrak). REFINE feels like a waste of time, they should give up on it and partner with Awesome golf. It only supports 2 screen resolutions and managing monitors and projectors is difficult to say the least if your PC laptop doesn't match one of the 2 supported resolutions (hint go thru the settings in each of the apps in the Launcher and tell the software to run in a window, then it becomes a little easier to manage) DATA - I get the misreads as well. I would say that it happens just like Joe showed & the frequency is about 2 or 3 in a 100. I don't believe that the black taping you did would have any affect on the outcome. The misreads are easy to spot and for now I am blowing them off, BUT I will be very disappointed if they do not get addressed. I am only doing range work because I can’t run GSPro so they are not critical to me. If I was competing in Sim tournaments, I probably would be rather unhappy when it happened. I can't address the ball and club speed discrepancies Joe identified because I don't have a reference to put them against - BUT - I don’t feel I am seeing distance data equivalent to what I see on course. That could be indoor swing syndrome, meaning I am not swinging as fast inside. I have not taken it to the range to see if there is a difference because of swing freedom. SUPPORT I have not attempted to contact Uneekor as I do not feel I have the experience to talk with them about data. I did not have the same experience or feeling about the Rapsodo support that you got, in fact I felt ignored. The same with SkyTrak, so they both went back. I believe it is possible the success of the sale has caught Uneekor off guard, like it did Rapsodo, and it is possible support can't keep up right now, only time will tell. Joe, I actually thought it was impressive they responded to your vendor and then directly to you. WHY THE EYE MINI… I wanted club data and impact data, and the UEM has the best experience of any unit I have tried. Second, and this is big, after the R10 and Rapsodo I felt that I don’t have the room for a radar-based unit so photometric is the tech I need. The short game practice you can do with the Eye Mini is also unmatched on any other unit. As a 16 handicapper my next level is to get to where up and downs are a regular part of my game so practice inside 50 yards is key. Because of this, the Eye Mini was on my list of possible launch monitors but the original price was very hard to justify. The sale price wasn't much easier but I decided to take the plunge and FOMO. Because of the club data and visual impact data, wedge practice, chipping, and putting, I am going to keep my unit. I am saving for a PC to run GSPro for sim, hopefully before the end of the year. To others… a word of caution, read the return policy on the Eye Mini to make sure you are OK with it. First, a request must be made within 15 days of activation and the terms seem to be very one-sided. I believe they have been written in such a way that Uneekor keeps total discretion on whether or not to honor a return request and there can be refund exceptions for shipping, transaction fees and restocking fees. I have not heard of anyone not being given a return, but it definitely is not the typical "100% satisfaction guaranteed" return policy. The third-party resellers in the US seem to defer to whatever Uneekor says. Hope this and Joe's excellent review helps someone investigating buying an Eye Mini. If Joe allows, I will keep any progress I make updated here thru him. Joe - I hope you are OK with this long comment, if not just block it and there will be no hard feelings.

@Joe - What would you get instead (camera-based)? I’m in a similar boat as some other commenters. I ordered mine last week and am waiting for it to ship. If I cancelled my order, really the only comparable option is the BLP. I think it’s a great unit, but I HATE the crazy subscription needed for GSPro (as of yesterday).

hi joe, i have this issue where my gspro/ R10 is facing the wrong way on lots of the tees for my first shot. no big problem but gets annoying after a while especially when its never done it before. just wondered if youve ever had this problem.

Hi Joe Can you share what hitting screen and enclosure you use and are you happy with the quality? I was thinking of the Uneekor too, now unsure. What is your choice at that the Uneekor price point?

Brilliant and very honest review - thanks. To share my experience with Uneekor - I got a Mini from the first shipment that came to Australia. Advertised everywhere as $4500 USD, but I was charged $5000 USD by the local distributor, who claimed $4500 usd was the price for a version of the unit that did not have a battery (and could not have a battery installed later) and the battery “version” was $5000 usd. They also changed their story from being able to register the Mini in the country/region it was purchased and then use the unit worldwide, to charging an “unlock” fee of $1000 usd to be able to use a unit that you “own” in a country other than the place you bought it. Very annoying when you travel a fair bit and want to take it with you! Can I ask if you had either of these issues when buying locally in Australia? Cheers

Great vid Joe & looking forward to the GC3 comparison. You should see if Trackman would send you their new IO (indoor optimized) product to test out (we can dream right??). Bit of a different league in terms of cost, but interested to see how the top of the line stuff compares to the entry and mid market stuff.

Thanks for the honest assessment of the eye mini. I have a gc3 and had been thinking about picking one of these up just for the impact vision camera, but I think I might wait a little while till they figure out their firmware thanks for the great work you’re doing.

Couldn't agree more with you on these same issues I've found with mine. I'm very hopeful they will have updates in the near future to solve these issues. I'm not sure what else I would buy as a replacement unit as there's a lot I like about this one and anything better is likely out of my budget.

It’s definitely a concern knowing about these issues, especially when mine will be arriving in a couple weeks 😬 Uneekor need to listen to their customers and acknowledge that there are issues and give some reassurance that these issues can and will be fixed. I appreciate this video a lot. I've been on the fence between the Eye Mini and the GC3. The eye mini has had me at cost, and foresights messing with package the last couple of weeks. However, at the end of the day, if I'm crossing this cost threshold already, accuracy is 100 times more important.

Great video! I think it's crazy that these companies just throw out a product and then expect the end users that paid thousands of dollars to be the testers. I had the MLM and sent it back after a day because it was so useless at the time. For some reason this business practice is acceptable in the launch monitor world and I don't understand why.

Great video and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the unit. For 8k you have to have good experience in terms of software and data, and this looks to just fall short. I am sure a few firmware and software updates might fix it, but without clear communication from uneekor it's a gamble.

Joe if i were you id return it and look elsewhere. You already have several monitors that can keep you playing. We have to fight back against these companies and let them know we will not accept a product for that kind of money that doesnt perform. Come on these companies have been hosing us. When a mlm2 is just as accurate as a gcquad for a fraction of the cost, who are the kidding. They wont be getting my money.

Great video Joe, I had the same problem with my driver. The backspin was so high that I changed the head from Stealth 2 to Stealth Plus as it is a lower spin head. The back spin came from 3500 to about 2000, but I could hit the driver of the plant left 😂 but it worked to bring the spin down and control the flight. I hope they sory out these problems as I just bought my last week based on your first initial review videos 😂😂👍🏌‍♂️
