All you guys praising this dude for his “Honesty” he was called out for using PEDs over a year ago by RVJ when he straight up challenged him to a match and he denied it up down left right, even agreed to a drug test and then came up with some BS story to get out of it all. This dude isn’t honest. He might be saying this now, but it’s a year late for honesty to describe it.
Congratulations Ryan on being transparent and honest. You, along with guys like Mike Ayello and even Travis sometimes are good for the sport because you tell new people the truth about what it’ll take to get to the highest level. And everyone should know the risk before jumping in. Sure, you may win some local tournaments without juicing, but with how prevalent PED use is now, all beginners should know how unlikely their chances of making it to the national level are without juicing. It just depends on what you’re willing to risk. Great video Ryan!
I appreciate your honesty, I really do. But I lost a good friend who's use started with PEDs...then progressed. Once it progressed we didn't see eye to eye on this topic so we grew apart. Greg Kovacs I went to high school with and he became one of the strongest bodybuilders in the World . In high school he weighed 185 in grade 10...came back in the Fall ready for football season weighing 245...that was the beginning of his ped fest. Our coach knew he was abusing steroids and wouldn't allow him to play football. After yrs of bodybuilding Greg passed away November...20th or around that day. His use and overuse killed him, dieing of heart failure. Ryan...please be careful what you do. I think your family is more important to you. Just..make wise decisions in life my friend.
Well done. When I first got into the sport (2011) it was “don’t ask, don’t tell”. Now more folks are open about their use and NOT bullshit everyone about “just working hard” in the gym
But it makes the people like myself who work hard in the gym and dedicated the majority of their time to doing so look bad when people do this garbage...especially for arm wrestling.
Thanks for being open on this topic Ryan. As a spectator it’s nice to get some insight to PED use in this sport. I’d love to see this sport go mainstream and even in the Olympics one day, but it seems like PED usage would make it impossible for current competitors. Can you ever see this being an Olympic sport or is it too entertaining with stars using PEDs?
@@StrongerThanBigfoot While this might be true more or less, people often say "PED`s" too hasty, as soon as they see a great physique, I feel. It`s not like you cant build a lot of muscles and strength naturally.
@@StrongerThanBigfoot Some sprinter, such Coleman, used them and for that they were disqualified for a lot of time. They're tested, not like armwrestlers, that can do everything they want without consequences : Levan shouldn't compete, like basicallly every top heavyweight armwrestler
Thank you Ryan, I really appreciate your honesty. You are a great person and a great expert of armwrestling and a very good armwrestler. I would suggest to never use them again. There is no reason to ruin your health. Train naturally and compete with people in your natural weight category.
@@StrongerThanBigfoot Stay off all PEDS. If you are finding it hard to put on muscle go to the doctors and demand a testosterone test, he will prescribe clovid which will slowly make your own body produce the right amounts of testosterone. It is because of chemicals in our environment and many other factors that a huge percentage of men have very low testosterone, having the right amount of testosterone means the muscle piles on. The problem with taking testosterone is that your body then stops producing it which can be permanent in the long run which in turn makes the overall problem of putting on muscle worse unless you take testosterone for the rest of your life
always appreciate honesty when it comes to PED. I dont personally care what anyone does. I just dont like it when it is lied about. Thanks for being open about it.
I think this is absolutely awesome he is coming out and saying this stuff. The only person I can think about that has came out with this extent of honesty is Mike Ayello
Its pritty cool to have you take the time an talk about a tough subject that most avoid, ive been aware for a few years now that most phsycaly competitive sports are overflown with peds an its just how it is at the top end of compation theres very litle to be done about it so its good that you give people who are or planing on doin ot some insight
No matter what you use, there is always some average dude that puts your effort to shame. The strongest guy i ever met was not a gym dude but some construction worker who ate junk food every day.
Your a honest true warrior Blue I'm a fan keep on pullin your love for the sport is awesome keep up the great content you got some big wins in ya still brotha😎💪
My experience with PED's in Armwrestling I still got crushed by the number one gal in the world after months of PED's usage where I actually thought I was getting strong. 🙃
I seriously doubt you will be able to compete in a untested strength sport without PEDs. Even if they test at competition pro athletes finds ways around it. Look at the documentery Ikaros.
Kudos for beeing honest about peds in the sport. One thing though. Red blood cell count goes through the roof when people do peds. That means huge gains in endurance. In a match situation when the match stops, that is a major advantage. This is almost never talked about and is a huge factor. What is your take on this part of it Ryan?
@@jstetty482 you don't get more blood volume, you just get more red blood cells, the muscles get more O2 and you will be able to wrestle harder for a longer period of time without building lactic acid. So you get stronger, won't burn out as fast, can train harder with less rest. No wonder most professional arm wrestlers are on "pancakes".
@@SimenFulland There are PEDs which specifically enhance endurance beyond just elevating haematocrit. You can improve every aspect of athletic performance if you know what you're doing.
@@Lieutenant_Scrotes True, point I was making was that "normal" steroid use will increase haematocrit levels significantly. Meaning the athlete will not only get stronger, but super enhanced endurance as well...
@@SimenFulland Please correct me if i am wrong, but i was sure that Not all PEDs increase Red blood cell count. that was EPO. Which also helps with low iron.
Dude, cheers for the video. I'm in my late 40's and have always wanted to dabble a bit but never have. I even got my Test levels done at the Dr (thinking that he might give me some TRT), but it was normal apparently (25). In the end though, I'm not an athlete, and sorta like that I've never done any gear. At least when I creep into my 50's and start falling apart I might get a stronger urge ....
Not sure why you didn't notice a significant strength gain the first time. That's odd. Sust takes a while to really start working though. Longer than the other test esters. Unless it was underdosed. Tren is great for Strength. Halotestin is fantastic as well. I used to be able to get Cheque drops back I the day. Cheque was quite toxic compared to other AAS but amazing. I'd often take it before a fight or a big lift for Increased focus and aggression. Really amazing stuff. Anyway, a lot of people try to act like if you "do it right" with PCT that you will practically return to normal. There are MANY variables (ie which substance, dosage, length etc) but 9 times out 10 you are not going to return to normal no matter how much nolva, clo, HCG etc you use. If you do, be grateful. I did everything right, by the book. But I am far from where someone my age should be now. I took my last cycle in 2009. It took years before I started producing spermies again. But having such low test effected me in sooo many ways. Just all the classic shit you get when coming off. It's good to get you cortisol levels checked as well as that being outta whack can mess you up. Messing with hormones is tricky stuff. I am just going to get back on TRT and stay on it. Life is too short to feel like crap. Thanks for sharing Ryan and be safe my friends.
Great comment. Lots of things we can do to optimise test such as plenty of sunlight, making progress with goals, exercise, hunting, fighting, f-ing hot chicks, plenty of red meat and saturated fat. There seems to be a popular opinion among young guys that it's inevitable to go on TRT after a certain age but they don't realise that TRT doesn't necessarily solve any problems - it could cause new ones, and it involves injecting yourself for the rest of your life and depending on steady supply of the drugs.
Sustanon does not take longer than other esters. It's literally a blend of 4 fast and slow acting esters to get the best of each. There's test prop in there, which is one of the fastest acting test esters. I've been on sustanon trt for over ten years by the way, and tried every alternative prior.
And clomid is garbage it dont do well brining back levels hcg is the only tried andntrue that gets the job done. Dude was not even on that high of a dose to need all this crazy crap. Hcg sure why not.
Thank you, too for sharing your experience. So I understand that it's not worth it to take PEDs, unless you are a professional athlete and sport pays your bills.
Can you imagine if Levan took PED's.. how strong he would be??? He would probably be ranked #1 in the World and never lose a round from anyone in almost 5 years or more that would be insane if he did that!!! 🙄
Listening to your experience and PED cycles makes me even more impressed with Coach Ray's win against you. He's the naturally smaller man but he dominated the match as if he was double your size.
Because Ray is actually training his ass off in the gym. It`s not like people cant get a lot of muscels and strength naturally, if they work hard and have nice genetics. It is very common today to directly jump to the conclusion, that someone takes PED`s, if he has a nice physique and is strong. Ray trained a lot more, especially when it comes to "the whole (upper)body" and not only specific parts of the right arm.
@@applebitefool i question it myself. a 440 pound bench press at his weigh and not being a powerlifter or anything is super sus for being natty. John Haack is the world record holder JUICED OUT HIS MIND. 198 pounds. his bench is 520.
@@mikeg1032 Ray, is a "very" experienced benchpresser. You can watch (drug-tested) competition on his channel. He is a powerlifter. And 80 pounds is not a small margin by any means. These are two worlds. Just stop.
At you’re age I’d stay on test and you can increase the dose before a match. Getting on it for me has been one of the best things I’ve done for quality of life
Guarantee that anyone above the age of 40 who is still competing at a high level is on HRT. Like it’s not even a question, doctors will prescribe it easily and there’s even other health benefits. In fact it’s almost a given that anyone competing at a very high level is at minimum on Test, then of course your giants will be on things like HGH, maybe Insulin, and more. And it will likely be a much more strict and carefully constructed regime. People who really progress in strength will have this combined with a very strict progressive overload regime at the gym.
It's not HRT if they're on a "high level". doctors only prescribe what gets you to the normal range, so anyone over 40 still competing is on illegal substances not prescribed by doctors.
Not sure if I believe it, but micheal todd said he had never been on anything but was going to start taking TRT after his loss to Devon, so if its true not everyone over 40 was on gear
I would find that extremely surprising. I was under the impression he expanded the PED stack he was taking after his loss to Devon, but not that he started taking them for the first time
ryan your a good guy, ped will get you results quick but you will still be able to get MUCH better even without them, your progression can still continue without them
Wow - like others here, appreciate the honesty but tbh this raises a hell of lot more questions then it answers. It almost brings the sport into disrepute, how can any match be considered a fair playing field anymore.
Well said sir! That about sums it up for me. How can we ever know if we are watching a fair match. This video has really opened my eyes. I would think it will put many people off paying to see matches, I know it has me.
@@pillitube Exactly, I think it would too. Not only paying to watch matches but also betting on matches… The other fascinating thing is no other arm wrestlers have responded yet?? I know they would have seen this.
say anything about ryan but he is honest, we need more ppl like him, PED should not be taboo, people are getting smarter, we know you cant be like Levan naturally
takes some diamond tipped balls of steel to talk so openly about this, i applaud you for that, it will also start the conversation rolling about giants in the sport.
Love your openness. If Levan did a video talking about the substances he's taken and is on, it'd be 14 hours long. If only the other names in the game would be as transparent. Even bodybuilding now has most of the top guys and their trainers talking comfortably about doses and compounds. Arm wrestling has silence ..or Michael Todd claiming trt only!
@@Bryan_Rowen I've asked Micheal personally and that's the only answer he'll ever give. Larry Wheels has brought a little openness to the sport, but not many are on board. Reckon Bagent talked a little about it, but generally speaking ..crickets! You watch any bodybuilding podcast nowadays and you have athletes like Iain Valliere and James Hollingshead talking about complete cycles. Coaches and trainers like Chad Nichols and Hany Rambod discussing entire protocols. Arm wrestling ...pancakes!
@@dexio8601 if you are asking about Michael Rebecca todd on a live stream said he is now only on doctor prescribed trt. Whereas when he was facing Genadi he was on all the shit and it didn't work.
Don’t think that’s true in the US. Doctors will prescribe to a fairly high base line level - the normal range is very wide and they’ll prescribe you closer to the upper end if you have the right doctor
I wish people would stop bringing up Ermes and Levan as examples of "normal" guys who became monsters due to drugs. Levan was born with such a frame that he weighed 90Kg as an amateur, barely more than a kid, while looking pretty skinny. Thick hands, wrists, forearms, everything. That was his starting point. To a lesser extent, Ermes was likewise born with large hands, wrists, forearms. Look at pictures of them both in their early days next to other people. Massive fucking heads. These people are built to put on mass. Steroids sure help a lot, but looking at them and assuming that you too can do that is wishful thinking to a delusional extent. Gear alone won't do that, you need the genetics.
I am sorry but both levan and ermes were normal guys before they started abusing tons of drugs. I know other people that is natty with waay bigger heads and hands and forearms and arms etc. Ermes and Levan were normal guys who got big by abusing drugs thats the facts. levan even abused so much drugs he changed his size of his bones he likely will not live long if not stop the drugs and take care of his health sadly.
I think it is cool that you were open in this detail. In the face of all that you went through, does it seem that the long road Rob talks about is better for the long term? Maybe there could be a clean league that comes with sponsors, and geared that just have a higher payout... just an idea. But I like the fact that you have personal knowledge on the subject and have shared your honest opinion. You have my respect 💪
No more cycles Ryan. Just slowly get your ENTIRE upper body stronger. Don’t think you have to change anything just because you have a tough match coming up. You will get big gains in muscles you haven’t focused on in a while. Look up how to structure mesocycles and progress from an expert like renaissance periodization. When you understand it you will get excited because you will see how to get stronger forever by really focusing on a few movements or muscles at a time while others go to MV or MEV. Then you give those a break by going to MV and something else goes on the front burner for a couple mesocycles. Believe me, start looking into this stuff and you’ll get excited and won’t need gear again. It’s cool to be really strong without gear.
I love and respect the openness of what you took. imo you get one life and it's ultimately up to you to choose what you put into your body and what you want to achieve. I dont fault anyone for juicing in any capacity so long as it's not in a tested sport/league. seeing monsters against monsters is more fun anyway
I respect the transparency! I think it would help to gain total body strength and fitness, as well as working with someone like RPStrength to assist with leaning out and dieting.
Yes, but people respond very differently. Some get huge superhuman results, others get a small boost. And of course there's the dangers, some get almost no side effects and others can possibly die.
@@3dTank The guys dying are usually doing massive doses of very liver toxic substances, and most of them are dying from heart-related issues brought on by messing around with their insulin levels to promote more muscle growth. There are a lot of modern bodybuilders dropping dead from abusing HGH and insulin, not really steroids or hormones.
@@maxxxmodelz4061 Tren is the worst! Probably why is works.. It has crazy side effects like psychosis and trouble breathing, anxiety etc.. my friend never took it again after that cycle.
I think it’s great that you are open about it and I understand that you need to do it in order to be competitive. But when it comes to armwrestling and also sports line worlds strongest man I’d find it so much more enjoyable if there was heavy testing. Having a background in sports myself I’d say armwrestling and WSM won’t ever become accepted in the bigger family of sports unless that happens. Also, I find a lot of people following armwrestling etc a bit ignorant to this fact. They are like, ”people cheat in tested sports”. Well, not really. Not in those that test hardcore, where the controllers show up at your door step randomly. Last big cases we had are from like 15 years ago and that was athletes that had whole teams behind them. (Lance Armstrong etc). I think it would be great if someone in the armwrestling community started to talk about this subject. How do we change? Levan, for example. It’s fascinating to look at but is it a sports or a freakshow? Growth hormones are crazy stuff. A negative side effect is that hands get bigger, in armwrestling that is a good thing. But your heart, kidneys and so on? Acne is really nothing compared to that.
I may be wrong but it seems the difference between Eastern Europeans and Americans in AW PED use is that the Europeans are more willing to blast HGH much more than Americans. If you look at guys like Ermes and Levan, their growth wasn’t just muscular, their entire frames even their jaw lines and head size grew. And since AW is very much based on connective tissue strength in the hands, wrist and elbow, their success makes sense
Thanks for talking about this! I'm kinda sad and disappointed that probably all the great arm wrestlers are on PED's.. PED's kinda ruin sports in general in my opinion. I'm always trying to get bigger and stronger and I wanna become a great arm wrestler but I'm not going to take PED's, but it kinda ruins the dream knowing that other's will and therefore will have a huge huge advantage.
If it’s gods plan then it will happen regardless if you don’t take PEDs, the main thing is to put the work in and stay consistent over the years and keep pushing. The strength will come. Never give up on your dreams!
bro, there is no "probably", the top 100 guys in the sport are all juicing constantly. Look at Ermes face from 2 years ago to now. Look at matt mask now, and go look at his WAL videos. those veins in his neck arent from training. Devon's 'pancakes' werent breakfast food lol.
RU-vid algorithm boosting comment 💪 ... Talked to Larry Wheels or Brandon Allen about it? They r very knowledgeable about it. Brandon might be easier to reach, also he won't BS u, straight to the point as well. Good dude too.
Something is wrong if you dont get stronger on testosterone. It might take a few weeks to notice, but you should definitely get stronger. It won't be on the level of say, dbol, but it's still significant.
With PEDs you wanna off-cycle the amount of time you are on-cycle. Everyone’s different but I’d recommend never staying on for an extended amount of time.
No thanks but I’m tired of the top pullers who are on crazy amounts of PED’s pretending they don’t use and I’d really like to find the true strength people that don’t need them and can still compete at the top
I've used peds before, this is a good few years ago now. I'd love to get into this sport, but I know, I'd be pulling against ped users, and peds are not something that I'd want to get back into. Problem with steroids etc is, the extra gains in performance comes at a cost, there is increased stress on the body. I used to think of this as a car engine, increase a cars performance means increased wear and tear.
Fresh raw meat, especially beef as in steak tartare, will accelerate recovery like crazy. It's too bad more athletes don't understand this. There's no need for drugs. They'll only hurt your longevity.
Not worth it _to you._ But for those who have built their entire identity around being an armwrestler, any one of them would likely be glad to drop dead tomorrow if it meant they could be the best in the world today.
My take on this . You don't need them . Ok ill never be a monster and never will fight in the top 10 but do i train to get to fight in the top 10 ? Clearly no . All those things that boost you in the short term they all have a toll in the long term . If i can stay healthy i can train for longer and enjoy this amazing sport until i am 50 or 60 . Plus i have seen people that abused them and when they are off they never come back to a decent lvl ...and they need to go back on and stay on . Fk that if i see the point in living my life injecting every few days to what ? to arm-wrestle ? Love the sport but love life more
@ryanbluebowen would devon share his insights on his prep to Levan to see for newcomers what it actually means like they do in body-building. We've seen very little from Devon besides table training. It would give a realistic view of what's possible for athletes and what's next level.
Two Things i want to adress: 1. MPMD always says: You only have one set of organs and so many hair follicles you can lose. Especially in Armwrestling if you want to compete on a high level in your later years you HAVE to take it slowly and get close to your natural potential through hard training and time. Once you believe youre there: 2. I personally would use the oportunity of trt in later years to get perscribed a high-end dose of Testosterone and on top of that some amount of Growth Hormone as GH is one of the most essential Steroids for Armwrestling
yeah honestly ryan doesnt know enough about what hes doing, strength wise or steroid wise. He's still very much learning. which is OK, but no where close to be needing steroids IMO. Calling yourself an athlete and training like that, the crab claw training: what ever you want to call it- , I won 2nd at wrestling nationals and still had coaches and still didnt take gear. I've been a PT for 12 years and still look to my mentor/ and started athlete development from age 12-17 I fear Ryan actually believes he followed todds training system, and for any substaintial ammount of time. From the first time todd arrived he had to sort very basic things out. (Listen to what Tddd SAYS not what Todd Does. All this is fine from an amatuer athlete - just to reiterrate, as i don't think ryan is intentionally a bad guy. but no ams should be on gear IMO. I didn't need it(yet) neither do alll of you.
Thanks Ryan for sharing. I'd like to see arm-wrestling PED-free, possibly with the exception of controlled TRT use for older pullers. It shouldn't be a chemically driven sport in my opinion. And yeah, why should you all risk your lives for the sake of being competitive?
I don't know how you do it Ryan.. You take all the shit from the delusional series and the like, all the shit from losing to Ray, then you still put your arm on the table with Gabi and invite more shit. You lay all this PED stuff out there not knowing how it will go, this I believe has really gone quite well though as people do actually admire honesty, but it could have gone the other way. Yet still you march on regardless. Your a good armwrestler (and an even better commentator i might add) but no one in the sport, or any other sport i know of, takes more online abuse than you, although even you would agree a lot of it is self inflicted, you seem to be able to mostly just brush it off, which for me is your most admirable trait. Most people would just crumble under that pressure, myself included, so credit where credit is due, keep your chin up and keep doing what you do, we all love you for it...
I actually texted you questions about this a little while ago and you ghosted me, might have seen like entrapment at the time and I know you're a busy man, but the only reason I asked is... I KNOW there are people in the sport that do hit the roids and I have no interest in pursuing the sport seriously if it means I HAVE TO do roids. RVJ is a mad inspiration because of his choices. 🙌
Huge respect for you Man! Not many people have balls to admit to PED use even in such a minor sport like arm wrestling. I wish everyone would be as transport as you, so many unaware people would understand how common it is. Majority of people have no idea about PED and are easily to manipulate by certain fitness personas for example, to believe that those guys are natural, despite obvious enhanced look. Again huge respect, great job Brother!
MK-677 isn’t a SARM. It’s basically a cheap alternative to growth hormone. It’s cool you are coming out with this now. But, I remember a year and a half or two years ago you and Lauchlin were adamant that you had never done PED’s. Lol
This is not a dig Ryan, but if you were on that stack, I mean dude, sarms, test, superD, AnaD and the Lachclan match went like it did... I mean some people just are not made genetically to be that strong.. so have a bad feeling about how well you are gonna do chasing the top all natural.
People just don't care about their bodies, especially young people. If they can lift a truck and look massive that's all that matters. The problem is we all age and then the PEDs come back to haunt you. You can call yourself the strongest but then what does it matter if you're not natural??
Awesome video Ryan. Seeing a lot of people only talking muscular growth supplements. Armwrestling is more a mix of hgh and steroids imo. I haven't had any use however given what we know about hgh and what it does it's easy to see that as a big one. In a sport where your hand needs to be stronger hgh is perfect. Bigger hands bigger bones for inside pulling etc... Not to mention the constant damage on your hand on the stuff as stated by other people. Your hand is everything in this sport unless you want to devote your bone line. If you take anything effecting muscular functions you have to have hgh otherwise you won't get anywhere because your hand is gonna bend back and you won't access your massive muscles

The interesting thing is that if the sport goes mainstream enviably there will be calls for testing. Surely this will rock the armwrestling world. I'd be surprised if there wasn't as much as 90% of the top 100 on gear
Arm wrestling is already tested outside this super match world. WAF and IFA are under WADA and competitors are tested. Of course that doesn't mean people don't do any cycles outside competitions especially in countries where testing is not done properly and that is with every sport, But you cannot go all in there with peds. These big events are like professional strongmen, there is no testing and you can be 200kg muscle and noone can do anything about it.
@@Sumppa much like Olympians who go on small cycles and beat the testing. Ongabyev is impressive given he is competing in WAF and probably only does small cycles
Probably more than 90%. It depends on what you mean by "mainstream". WAF is already a tested league. We don't need to test in every promotion or league. If that happens, then monsters like Levan will just learn to evade testing just like MMA guys and other sports do. No testing is bullet proof. Even UFC testing, which is some of the strictest in any sport, can be evaded with the right knowledge. It's just a game of cat and mouse. Testing is stupid outside of amateur sport.
