Thank you!! I was torn between master books curriculum and my fathers world. Your review helped a lot! We are so excited to start my fathers world kindergarten!!
This has literally been the most helpful and practical video I’ve found for homeschooling!! Thankyou! Just subscribed :) Made me cry how beautiful the curriculum sounds. Just lines up with my heart for homeschooling (I’m only just starting - my oldest will be 4.5 and will start 2023 - We are Australian!) I was torn between taking her prep (American kindergarten) year easy or doing a curriculum. This has assured me that MFW is just gentle and fosters a love of learning not pushes them away which is exactly what I want!! She so loves learning but is only keen on worksheets now and then so I think MFW is perfect for the amount of written work!
Thank you so much for this! I also have 3 children and my oldest is 19 and in college! I’m beginning to homeschool my littlest who is 5 and MFW popped into my head to try because I thought it would be so fitting for her. I did Abeka also with my older two and I know that is not the right fit for #3. I was so worried about MFW because I never used it, and your video confirmed for me that this will be the perfect fit for her! It got me really excited to get started with her! Thank you for going into such detail and taking the time to share about it!
Thanks for this video! This is so helpful as I've been stumbling around trying different curriculums as a first time homeschool mom. I've wanted to stick with MFW but wasnt sure. This gives me a clear idea. Thanks for the inspiration!
This was a great review, thank you! I have debated adding in the Abeka math book and doing a page a day for extra math. Do you think that would be a good supplement/extra?
I'm beginning my homeschool journey this year with my 4 and 5 year old. I'm using My Father's World as the main curriculum and want to supplement with Simply Charlotte Mason Math/ and a workbook. I'm also using how to teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons. My 5 year old has advanced reading skills but needs a curriculum to boost his math skills. My 4 year old has mastered letter recognition, he is extremely advanced in math, he can count by 2s, 5s, 10's and can easily solve addition and subtraction (both kids need to improve their writting skills). I want to instill a love for learning. Do you think MWK will still challenge them?
In my opinion, MFW Kindergarten is really not intended to challenge children; it's more so to establish a love of learning, connections and relationships. Something I realized after 16yrs of teaching, is that is homeschooling is like a marathon, not a sprint race; if you go too fast, too hard at the beginning, your kids burn out and lose steam. I would encourage you to start with MFW plus a solid math curriculum and then you can always add supplements as you get into a groove and see growth happening.
Hello!! I really love the flashcards and biblical laminated sheet you showed that ties bible into the picture. (Apple/Fruit if the spirit) Did those come with the teachers manual or the child’s workbook? I purchased a curriculum already so I’m wondering if I can purchase individual items.
You're welcome :) Thanks for watching. If you're a true/pure CM schooler, you wouldn't do unit studies and you wouldn't start schooling until age 6 - year 1. But this is CM flavored incorporating her ideas of short lessons, living books, reading by sound and sight, encouraging the gentle love of learning. My son was very much ready (and begging) to begin school before 6.
Hi Michaela! I think I heard you mention in your first grade video, that your son tested into fourth grade. Do you keep him with his age grade level or do you homeschool him at the level he tests at? I know you said you loved the more laid-back time with your kindergartner. Just thinking about next year, and wanting my daughter to have that extra special time together, but also making sure that she is challenged because I know she enjoys that as well! Just curious where you guys were with everything now! ☺️
Hi, my youngest son is very advanced in reading and spelling abilities....his mind works faster than his body. He loves to write and *can* fill pages free writing, but his penmanship is much to be desired and he doesn’t possess writing structure skills yet so I keep him in his appropriate grade level. (which is second grade at the time I’m writing this). We build on his strengths and continue to work on tasks that need to be covered for his age :)
Do we have to be able to print All of these things ourselves? During this season, money is quite tight so I’d like to not have to pay for extras. I also have two younger sons I’d want to use it for in the future. Would I be able to do that?
You do not have to print anything. You can choose MFW as a complete set or purchase individual items. If you want to use the same set again in the future, you will just purchase the consumables separately. I would definitely encourage you to check out their website!
