I'm an old guy from Arkansas. Once I had my 6 years of university I returned to live and work in rural Arkanas. I grew up with rifles and shotguns but not pistols. I starting getting into pistols for self-defense about 5 years ago. I watch a lot of your videos and have been enjoying this series. I'm glad to see how folks from a state not as free as Arkansas deal with things. My hands are weak now so watching Stav with various pistols has been helpful to me. I've enjoyed the comparisons as I keep collecting pistols and trading for different ones. The Sig P-365 is my CCW either in 380 or 9mm depending on how my hands are doing. If I join my church security team I will carry my Glock 19. I think you might choose the Sig P-365-380 unless you default to your Shield which is a fine choice.
S&W has an EZ series in both 9mm and 380 they are much easier to rack...I have a similar problem and carry a 380EZ it works great for me. I believe they are part of their shield series.
Love you and your channel so much. I am a 57 y/o woman who is just now discovering shooting.. love it! Hope you'll continue making great content. God Bless❤
Obviously you must know how hard it is to shoot those little guns?! I have the sig 238 .380 the g42 the g43 and they took a lot of practice. Your recoil management and shoot was exemplary , great job.
My second gun (named Sheila E) S & W 380 EZ Shield is my favorite gun. Recently, my husband got me the 9mm S & W Equalizer. I liked the 9mm which seemed really accurate but a little heavier to carry. Overall, I still like my 380. Thank you for sharing your videos.
I predicted the Glock and Shield as well mostly because you were most familiar with them. The addition of the Wilson Combat grip to the Sig made a world of difference and I shoot the P365-380 the best.
Love your Chosen shirt! We couldn’t find .380 ammo during the pandemic, so we got a used Taurus G3C 9mm. This was way too much for my wife and the quality is poor. We are now shopping for a .380 EZ, finally.
@@bobmacquarrie THANKS MAC ! ... I'm really eager to see how you guys evaluate these. I'm actually thinking about getting the Colt. Although I might look into the Colt Night 🐍 Cobra !
Pearce Grips make an extended bottom plate for the short Shield + mags (10 rd. 9mm and 13 rd. .30 SC). It doesn't add any capacity but allows your pinky finger to join the party. I have them on all my short mags and it makes a big difference.
I predict shield plus for 9mm and a sig P365 (Rose) 380 ❤ this series! I really appreciate that you explain the technical reasons why you prefer one over the other, so we know what to look for and consider for ourselves. Thank you.
Glock 42 for a 380. It’s dead-nuts reliable and add a Pearce +1 pinky extension. Shadow Systems CR920 for a full-featured & proven 9mm Glock 43/43X clone that takes 10, 11, or 13 round mags. Chef’s kiss! 🤌
What you like is important to you, I hope you like what you carry to protect you and yours. I practice with many different guns; I learned that I could shoot well with most any of them. I am really accurate and comfortable shooting with my Colt MK IV Gold Cup in 45ACP, one handed two handed, slow or fast fire. I just do not carry it as it heavy and has a high value. My Ruger Security 9 is really nice, and my Ruger EC9S fits in my pocket. Having shoot them many times and have been a 100% reliable. I bought a second set.
I love the comparison videos, and the explanations for why you AND your husband like specific pistols. I predict the Shield in 9mm, and the 365 in .380.
So like Mac said for the shield in round count, same for the 365-380, 10+1 compared to 6+1, plus backup magazines can be 12, 15, 17rds for the 365. My wife is Asian at 4'8" at 100lbs, Her CW is Sig365-380 with 10rd magazine and spare 15rd backup., Car has 2 more 17rd magazines just in case.
Proper pronunciation ValTer. I'm a little disappointed you didn't like the Hellcat but you did shoot a 100 with it. But that's why there's so many choices. The point of this series is to try all you can & pick the best one for you. You did that & I hope many people will use this series as inspiration to pick their best. Btw, I detest the Sig 365 but don't discount it for others. Mac, try curling your pinky up around the bottom of the grip; it works well for me with my 45colt Blackhawk at much longer ranges. Excellent series that I will use for anyone I teach in the future. Thank you.
You did great with all of them and at 15 yards I'd say that's great shoot'n ! If you could improve one thing I'd say you allow the recoil pulse to much time after the shot until you get back on sights , its a thing i do also . But you do have very very good recoil control , i think the pause is just something we do to settle between shots . Carry the one you do best with and fits your hands the best , don't forget to practice the draw speed. Train like your life depends on it , double taps . You've helped so many people with your training tips❤
.. these comparison videos are good way to introduce ,, but much more time is needed training to be confident for carry ... because you have trained with and have muscle memory at the range ,, I predict 9 mm , S&W Shield Plus .... .380 , Glock 42 .. ..But to have a "Same" feel the Sig 365 in either 9mm and .380 acp ..
Nice t shirt! The Chosen Series is wonderful! I thought the Glock would better if it was me, but it’s hard to tell for other people since hands are unique.
I think you will stay with the Shield plus and the GLOCK 42 . I might be wrong on the 380, because I like the 9 mm in the sig 365. I've never shot the 380 model of the sig 365, but small hands and 380 cal sig 365 would be a good choice in my opinion.
I mostly care 9mm. Don't hate me, cause sometimes I carry Bersa Thunder .380.... 8 plus 1 and a 2nd mag. Thin and lightweight. Ammo choice Underwood. .380 solid copper plus p external HP. .... 13 to 16" belistic gel. HP won't clog. Even through heavy clothing. Bersa T. 3.5" Barrel. Fixed Barrel. It's my choice. 😊 Thanks for your review. 😊
I have no idea what she will pick but I think all of the guns could do a fine job. My preference for a concealed carry would be a p-365 but I like my smith and Wesson 44 magnum to sit on my coffee table
I found that installing a narrow fiber optic front sight on a Glock makes it much easier to get a smaller group. Have you tried shooting the P365 with a red dot sight on it? I think it might help the accuracy.
Another informative video and great comparisons. I ❤ my Sig P365 380. 12+1 rds with a longer grip, shoots like a .22. Never shot the Shield+ but I'm concerned about the recoil from such a small 9mm. I own the Equalizer and love it but it's much bigger and made for easy recoil.
When you do your revolver series I suggest among the revolvers you shoot the Ruger LCR .357 but shoot .38+P. In fact I recommend all the reviews be with the .38+P if you can afford the ammo cost. Or .38 wadcutter.
I love Walther overall even though I’m not a fan of the PDP. Used to have the PPS and it was way more accurate than anything else I used. But the small mag count and a horrible trigger that couldn’t be easily fixed, even by an armorer caused me to sell. I’d love to see a version three that has a 15 round mag, optic cut, a Walther performance trigger and a rotating barrel. That would easily make it a top tier product.
Based on my observation of you shooting and commenting on the various guns you have tested in this series, my guess is you are going to pick the S&W Shield Plus 9mm and Glock 42 380.
I love the shield last year I purchased a shield plus 9 a few months ago got a real deal on it! I love it shoots great! When Mack carries his shield what holster does he use?
I think this Sig P365 is a much softer Shooting and less snappy than the Glock and I like the way it feels in my hand better so I guess everybody’s different
I wish everyone would clearly clarify when they are talking about a shield vs shield plus. Even if we're mostly sure they're talking about the plus, referring to it solely as a shield causes us to be unsure.
Really enjoying this comparison series and think it's pretty hard to beat the Shield Plus in the 9mm category... As a runner-up I like the Ruger Max 9 with a Galloway flat face short stroke trigger... Both of these have become my favorite micro 9 choices... As far as 380 I prefer something as small as possible or why bother. In that case my two favorites are the original LCP and Smith Bodyguard.
Hey Stav- I’ve tried to keep up and watch all these, but I think I missed a couple- did you happen to try a Mossberg MC2SC? They shoot great with the same capacity. Keep up the good work! Love the vids- I think you’ll stay with the Shield!
Often carry a .380 pistol for complete concealment. Found the .380 round is good for self defense. The pistol may not be a good platform. I use the Kel-Tek P3-AT. Great for concealment, terrible for recoil as you shoot it. Consider these mini micro pistols as short range self protection devices. Expect lots of recoil.
I named my Shield (later Plus) Shiela & Sheldon 😂 If you could get a PPQ, something tells me you’d like that a whole lot better than any of the others.
Walther FanBoi here: We wish Walther would update the PPS. It’s outdated and obsolete. The PDP F Series is still too chonky. Having said that, I’ll most likely be picking up a Shield Plus very soon.
Those are the ones I would have chosen. I love, love, love my shield plus. I have both the 3.1" and the 4". I may have missed it but did you completely drop you LCP Max? I was considering it for a summer carry.
I predict the Shield and the Glock 42. I've thought about checking out some of the guns you tried but it would kill me not to carry my Glock 19. I'm just too attached 😁
Okay, I was right with the shield and might buy one of my own. I have been a Glock Fan Boy and own 3. Models 42, 17, and 21. Beware, the person who trains with one type of gun, I do know how to use them. As someone can tell by the caliber selections, they each have very different use cases and sighting methods. Light with green dot (.380/deep concealment) Tritium night sights (9mm/EDC) and a micro red dot and white light (45/home) defense.
if 365 & 42 are so close yet you get 10 vs 6 seems like a no brainer sig? may be a day you NEED those 4 extra rounds? lastly, you think its smart to keep red dots/lasers/lights of these since they are made for deep conceal or do you feel 1 of those is worth extra size/weight? i have laser on my ruger max but holsters are impossible and it did add size/weight but i like having it. great channel!!
After watching, i agee with your spousal unit...more bullets available is always better if you can carry and conceal it, and can practice on a regular basis so you have established some body memory. If you live in a metro area...be safe during elections....rumor is it could get hairy...but...there is a big chunk of time yet between now and then, with a whole lotta uncertainties, so who knows how this one will go down in history.
