I'm all about this book content! I love how you talk about books and how you have an understanding that reading really is an experience and how your perception of a book depends on where you're at in your life. I really hope you'll do that favourite books of all time video 🤗
Yes! Hamlet is soooo great! I read it for the first time out of interest when I was like 12, didn't comprehend a lot, but liked it a lot. When I had to read it for school when I was 16 I loved it even more. It's so amazing
So glad to see you mention the Glass Castle!! I'm also not a nonfiction fan but I loved it so much. It's so well-written that it almost reads like fiction.
So many great book suggestions. Thank you Charley. I loved this video. Maybe you can do one of your favorite all time books, if you haven't already. Take care.
when you mentioned the sisters grimm i SCREAMED i love that series and i've never met anyone else who has read it. my puckabrina obsession made me a nightmare to my family and friends when i was in 6th grade lol
I have a recommendation for a book written by an indigenous author! I highly recommend Linda Hogan, specifically "Solar Storms." It explores coming of age themes, environmental issues, and, of course, indigenous identity. So good, and such beautiful writing!
My favorite books I read in school was bird by bird by Annie Lamott and Dave Eggers How We Are Hungry... same 10th grade english class and a great teacher!
i watch a lot of booktube so i absolutely loved hearing you talk about books!! this was so interesting and i’d love some more book content if that’s something you would want to do :)
I also loved The Things They Carried! I actually read it as assigned reading when I was a sophomore in HS and then when I moved/came to a new school it was assigned to me again when I was a junior. I read it again even though I had just read it months earlier because I loved it so much!
comepltey agree with your feelings about Steinbeck books. i read of mice and men my freshman year and bc i love in the Central Valley i felt soooo attached and heartbroken the entire time :,(
Braiding Sweetgrass is a great book written by an Indigenous Author about her and even though it is non-fiction, it has great stories in it. I was assigned it in one of my college classes. Also The Elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakami is phenomenal and seems to be something that you would love!
I loved reading Island of Blue Dolphins when I was little. I'm so glad you mentioned an interest in looking for books by Native American authors though! We read The Birchbark House by Louise Erdrich in my American Childhoods class. It's a series that takes place around the time of Little House on the Prairie but is told from the perspective of an Ojibwe girl living on an island in Lake Superior. I also recently read Prairie Lotus by Linda Sue Park. It's another prairie narrative, but this time about a Chinese American girl. These are both really good children's novels that I would recommend to anyone!
omg those sound perfect for me! I adored the little house on the prairie series as a kid, and I listened to the audio books recently and they definitely don't fit the values I have now. I will check those out, thank you for the recommendations!
Hi! Just wated to thank you for such a nice video! I was sewing and just listening to you talk and it was so relaxing, like you and I where just chating, and I am realy hoping to see more bookish content! 🍓🌸🌼
Loooove the book content! I'm not sure if this is your cup of tea, but I have to recommend Six of Crows. It's YA fantasy and my absolute favourite duology, and it has a lot of good representation!
Hey Charley, love the video (and omg I LOVED Sisters Grimm)!! Do you have a vid where you show your tattoos? I've noticed them in a few of your videos and they look soo gorgeous!!💗
thank you! and i don't have a tattoo video, I only have two tattoos at the moment so it would be a pretty short video! I do have an instagram post about the one on my leg though :)
@@CharleyAnn Haha fair enough, I'll check out ur insta then! Thanks for the reply x edit: I'm happy to see you turned something from hard time into a beautiful reminder of home, thank you for sharing that💕
If u ever get the chance you should try reading "Looking for Alibrandi" by Melina Marchetta. It's one of my favourite books of all time and I love it so so much:)) 💖
I remember reading Of Mice and Men in school and looking round at all the white students oblivious to the heavy racism... But it's okay cos they were still #woke 😌
