When I read Water for Elephants, I was on a train headed to NYC. It was 11/10/11 and my mom and I were going to spend my birthday in this opulent hotel in Times Square and visit all the museums we could. I loved numbers that repeated so we took a crap to of pics beneath the huge digital clocks that read 11/11/11. I was 13.
I'm currently reading Imaginary Friend and its been one of my most anticipated reads and I have to say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. The length doesn't bother me and I've been flying through it for the past two days.
Water for Elephants is in my top favorite books of all time! The Secret Life of Bees is also a favorite of mine. Look into it if you've not read it. I was recommending these two for a year straight. Thanks Katie! 😁
I remember reading Native Son in school as well, it was definitely a good one! I actually liked a lot of the books I read in high school. I have been wanting to pick up Dark Matter as well.
Discovering your channel was my highlight of 2019, seriously, I find so many great recommendations here! I've read last week Before The Coffee Gets Cold and it was so unbelievably good! I loved it so much! last year I came to accept that I don't like ya anymore. And like you I always loved to read fantasy and I thought that it was "my genre" but I struggled so much last year with my fantasy books. I just don't enjoy reading them anymore and instead of fantasy I'm leaning towards literary fiction now! 😊 hope you have a great day!
Omg this is such a sweet comment thank you 😭 Reading tastes are always changing but that’s what makes reading fun! Pick up what you feel at this moment in your life rather than keeping yourself in a box and you’ll never fall out of love with reading!
@@murakamireads you're welcome! ☺️ These are my exact thoughts! I am definitely going to buy Three Souls because you got me interested in reading it! It sounds like something right up my alley! And also The Book of M, mainly because I've read The Book of the Unnamed Midwife last week and it was really good and I'd like to read something set in a post-apocalyptic world. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven't read it yet! ✨
Awesome choices! I haven't read the Book of M yet but it's on my TBR. Post-Apocalyptic fiction is my absolute favorite subgenre so I want to read any book that falls into that category. I think Murakami is so underrated here on BookTube. I haven't read to much by him yet, but I remember reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and in late high school/early college and it changing me a bit. Tell the Wolves I'm Home is fantastic and June is one of my favorite main characters. I'm beginning Imaginary Friend now so we'll see if I end up enjoying it!
Weird how I witnessed you reading most of those books! Basically from 2017. And I read what you recommend most of the time also. P.s: I totally predicted your favorite books 😂
I never heard of Three souls, but your description makes it sound like it's up my alley-so I am gonna pick this up~♪ Ah, I checked your goodreads list in the description. BTW, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas is originally a debut novel by Yoru Sumino not a manga. The manga is based on that novel. (So, if you want more details to the story, the novel is there) We are also getting 2 new novels by him-"I Had That Same Dream Again" and "At Night, I Become a Monster"
I read Twilight when I was 15 so it also gives me a very nostalgic feeling. I loved it then and I still really liked it because of the way it made me feel back then. I just finished rereading all 4 books (The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will be next) and I can still enjoy it, but now it's more like a fun reread for me. This time I enjoyed Breaking Dawn more than before because it gave a bigger insight into the different vampires that exists, tho must say that Jacob is a real Drama Queen. When I was in high school my boyfriend translated the existing part of Midnight Sun and gifted it to me (my English was horrible at the time). I also really liked the Host by Stephenie Mayer which is also one of my favorite books of all time, but her newest book The Chemist was awful imo.
Hi! Great video 😊 I would like to know if you have a recommended author for the murakami fans. I'm about to finish all murakami novels and I don't know what I'll read after :(
I have quite a few recommendations videos on my channel for Japanese Literature and also my December 2019 Wrap Up I read a lot! Other than that, check out my fave books of 2019 - I talk about a lot of books that remind me of Murakami! I am thinking of doing a video all about "if you liked murakami, try these books" so hopefully that'll come out in the next month or so!
