I've seen the self-titled album cover and guitar so many times, and it never ONCE occurred to me that all the different bones from different animals made a literal Chimaira. Mind. Fucking. Blown.

I think the RA-1 is one of the best looking ESPs they’ve ever made 😍 single bridge pickups are so underrated for looks. I shipped an LTD M-307 from Kansas to Wales (UK) in 2004 because I loved Pass Out of Existence so much. Probably not a great guitar by today’s standards but I’ve still got it and doubt I’ll ever sell it

I had one of those moments back in 2021 with a Dean ML - I bought it a week later - alas, screws on the trem stripped & some frets need work, so she’s in a case until I can afford it - but I CANNOT wait to have that guitar playing again

I have a natural neck on all of my guitars with the exception of my B-stock EC-1000. I had it sanded down to a satin finish. Plays like butter!

I’m a huge fan of Fender Guitars especially their vintage Strats, Tele’s, Jazzmasters, etc. so I really love the first Guitar because of the relic Strat body. I think it makes it look badass and hold on to that Guitar for a while because it will because a vintage Guitar itself one day. But as for the other Guitars I think they’re all badass.

If Im not mistaken the ESP strats are called Snappers

In such crazy times, one of the things keeping me sane is vids like this!. In this time, I've started looking into collecting vintage ESP's. Gotta say, I love the The Mirage Custom series from the 80's and early 90's. (I love the old school lawsuit head stocks, which might slightly resemble a jackson, but much more fine tuned and better looking).

Im rocking the RA-600 and I love it! Wouldn't be where I am today without it!

Something about those horizons, 7strings do have a crazy scoop in the arch on top. It is such a hard edge there. I'd really complain if I didnt love em so much. I have a flat black one that I took a sander to.

For sure man!, I know they don't have the arrow inlays anymore, but the 1000 series I think is an LTD staple.

I play Ibanez and Jackson guitars and love them, but if anything or anybody makes me buy an ESP (and I probably will) it will be you! Your passion is just insane towards them, i love it 🤘😎

The number one 6string gutiar that i could NOT live without is my 27" scale baritone 6string, the RG970XL, and the 7 string i cant live without is the 7 string version, the 27" baritone 7string, the RG1077XL. I cant live without my baritones :D

The strat thing happened to me too, I didnt like the shape, until i got a jackson dinky, I inmediately fell in love with that guitar, and still dont know why 😅

Once again many thanks for this video Rob. Isn't it funny how the older the guitar is, the better it sounds. The ESP GL is a beauty I think. I once had a Hondo Fender copy Guitar. It was very hard at first to find the right strings for it, but after I did find the right strings it stayed in tune every time. After a while I got myself a BC Rich Warlock. Which I have got a photo of it and I'll send it to your Facebook page to show you it Rob. So just to finish. Stay safe, stay home and don't forget to wash your hands. Those screw in strat bridges really do give u spot on intonation, no love lost on the floyd.

I feel you on finding that one guitar and it's special like between you and that instrument the connection is idk like deeply sentimental . I got my baby Jackson soloist SLX Spalted maple before pandemic hit hard in FL and I've been jamming out hard I record my jams and you know when you go back and you listen to your own riffs and are headbanging you know you got something special I honestly believe sometimes the instrument plays itself like you go on autopilot but you subconscious is one with the guitar and you ooen up your heart and soul through music that my friend is the true gift we as musicians give .I was always drawn to that guitar when I would stop in and then I would go weeks without stopping in then I would say tomorrow I got all this shit inside I gotta get out and I'm gonna play that like no other I may not know a lot of music theory and what not wish I did but I'm gonna go in there and whoever there they I wanna let them hear what I got get off my chest and between that guitar and myself we would and still have moments . MOMENTS you know what I mean . ROB ; you myself and every single person who gives there heart and soul into what they truly believe .We gonna have many many more stay safe everyone and to those who lost loved ones my heart goes out to you all and let's play harder for them.

Little late to the comments on this video. But great guitars! I remember reading one of your interviews one time in Guitar World magazine back then, when ESP sent you the completed ESP Rob Arnold signature and you said you sat it on an armchair and just stared at it for an hour because it was perfect flawless in every single way. And btw - holy fuck, you really trust the one middle latch when you close the case on every guitar! I was half expecting at least one case to open and the guitar would fall out afterwards lol

Rob awesome video. I am still doubting to find me a ra-600 somewere since it's not for sale anymore. Totally get the design and moving of the volume knob. I still have that problem with my schecter hellraiser. Keep the stuff coming. Wondering if you could do a guitar lesson on the easiest to play song from chimaira (pure hatred maybe?). Stay metal! :)

Awesome walkthrough of some fine guitars. Personally I’m a V guy myself, but these are some serious instruments with uncompromising caliber.

What a great collection, awesome rundown Rob. Man I hope ESP will do a limited run on your sig. I would be all over it. I missed out the previous run of these guitars. The last one was just sold out in my area just before I had the money together. In a time where ebay and reverb weren't really availlable. I still have some great ESP's from that time: - ESP urban camo m2 - ESP nv with kahler trem ( V-shape ) - Viper 7 ( is for sale now, due to the heavy neck dive, wich is a common viper problem) My latest ESP's are: - ESP e2 horizon reindeer blue ( agree on the contour, I like the "M" style better) - ESP e2 RZK 1 burnt - ESP e2 RZK 2 burnt ( I love rammstein) In general I absolutely love Japanese guitars, I have about six Ibanez prestiges ( the fear factory dino sig. Being one of them which is awesome) and 4 caparison's ( the arch enemy Christopher amott being one of them). I also have a certain vibe to "superstrat" type of guitars, most of my guitars are that body style. It really is true, you don't pick the guitar but the guitar picks you

Good fix for the sticky neck. Get a cheap scouring pad from your kitchen and tape off the neck at top and bottom and just rub that scouring pad up and down until both sides go white. then you get that satin finish.

They do still make the M1000, but they got rid of the binding on the neck for some reason. I'm guessing to cut costs because they looked much better with binding.

They still make the M1000 but the new school versions dont have the top binding. The flagship m1000 right now is white with maple fretboard.

I love the simplicity of your signature. 1 pickup and one knob that's way out of the way.

Im always shocked by how much treble you have in your tone lol. Maple tonewood (since its a neckthtru) with Alder wings, and with EMG's. Im totally a fan of a more trebly tone, but when I tried out a RA-600, holy moly did that thing cut through everything! im more of a fan of combining a dark guitar with bright pickups. I generally go for a mahogany body, with Fishman Fluence Moderns.... all the clarity of EMGs without any sterility :D

Would love to get my hands on one of those RA-1s. It’s hard to find a 7 string with a Floyd rose that is up my alley. Even the Steve Vai 7’s, i don’t really like the feel of, something about the weight. I like the older ones, the UV777s i think? The original 7 string, but it’s really hard to find those now days. I know a Floyd rose is a bit wonky on a 7 string, but i don’t own any 7s with a Floyd, just hardtails. I play 6, 7, and 8 strings, but 7 just feels like home to me. I’ve looked and looked for one of those RA1’s, but i guess they just don’t have them in production anymore, or maybe they were always just custom shop. No way I’d ever be able to fork over that kind of cash lol, at least not in the foreseeable future. Even with the painted neck, I’d just get some of that finger ease stuff, a lot of people don’t realize it works on the neck as well as the fret board. It’s a nice hack for painted necks.

This video really made me want to buy an M1000. A friend had one years ago I would always riff on. Always loved the feel. Been on the watch for an RA600 but they rarely come up without being too pricey. Also is that M1000 the same one you used through the Dehumanizing Process DVD?

Killer collection man. That RA-1 has me wanting to jam out on my 7 string. It's a Buzz McGrath signature ESP. Very similar to that RA-1 though. Both you and Buzz have been big influences in my playing. Never knew you played a 7 string though. Two questions. What songs did you use the 7 string for? What tuning do you keep it in? Is RA-2, RA-4 and RA-5 24.5 like RA-3? Man I know what you mean about "try before you buy" I bought a ESP Viper in 2007 I also wanted a M-I. The M-I is more me, also I would have bought a RA-600 but I'm left handed and was out of luck. Love your guitars and your work!

I love how you say you never really liked “strats” yet literally only own strat-style bodied guitars 😁 I get how you mean it though.

There was one thing I've wondered for a while. Was the 25.5 scale length of the M1000 not quite your thing, so your signature RA600 was made with 24.75 instead? I always wondered why it has Gibson/Charvel 750XL scale length instead of the M1000's scale length, and if it was something you wished the old M1000's had back then.

You didnt mention scale length. The signature RA600 by LTD has 24.75 scale. The M1000 is 25.5 scale. Are your customs by ESP 25.5 or 24.75?
