There have been products you feature in the past that I have had zero interest in which I watch all the way through because your presentation is that good. Translation? Made my day to see a new video. Thank you sir, great to see you
Awesome video, I just ordered one based on previous recommendations from you and realized there is a lot I don't know and your video helped me a lot! Thanks Patrick!
Yippie, Patrick is back! I really enjoyed you take on guns over the years. I am a armchair 3-gunner, so I will live precariously through you! Seriously, I really enjoy your content, when you speak I listen. I have even bought a few guns from your box to the range videos and your were spot on. Glad to have you back and hope to see you more. Now can you see if we can primers reasonably priced again? 😁
Thank you! I try to offer good info and am well pleased you've been happy with your new ballistic tools! Primers...thats above my pay grade, but it will get better if lower ammo prices are an indication. Be well man and thanks again.
Thank you, thank you. Lots of years working and chasing and happy to have done it. You have been a sub for a long time, thank you for getting what I do and sticking with me. Best to you. Patrick
Great video, I'm happy I stumbled across your channel. I like you approach to the review and product development. Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with for this plateform!
This is awesome. I just watched GThumb. He had the little ones and they look like the perfect gun for self defense. Your vid shows they are multipurpose. Good to see you back on the tube.
The only problem with the Genesis Arms platform is it makes everything else feel like wasted potential. It's almost like the category, "shotgun" needs to be renmed.
I hope I am around long enough to see the swing to Box Fed shotguns for most every shotgun use. It just makes sense. Especially those that are AR based. The AR, like it or not, is (A)merica's (R)ifle, why not have the benefits of that familiarity and modularity in a shotgun. I know you know this my friend. You just gave me the opportunity to express that with a prompting. Thanks man! Be well.
@@PatrickEKelley3gunfun I went from Mossberg 500 to Benelli M4 to the Gen12, its an absolute evolution, tube fed is the way of lever actions, inferior to what is currently offered.
As I’ve mentioned to you multiple times already, I’m watching this product closely. My dissident runs and I love it but I’m very interested in this Genesis after seeing one run flawlessly at the Microtech Pro/am
I love what these offer, but I'm not an Open guy. I do wish that 3 gun/multigun matches would play with division rules to let versions of this (or the recent pump action mag fed offerings from various companies) in limited or tac ops divisions. Major props for fitting a long barrel to do sporting clays - don't let those rules keep you down!
Thanks Mr Kelley ! Love my Gen 12, I just wish Genesis would re-stock their flared magwell kit, if you happen to talk to those guys, please ask them if they know when that particular product might come back in stock, seems to me like it's a must for competition.
New that you are a very good shooter but did not know that you are a very good gun tinkerer as well. GOOD STUFF oh and nice to see you again ! From Canada
@@PatrickEKelley3gunfun I am of the same mind set, I take them apart to get a thorough understanding of how these things work with all the tiny parts interacting within a few thou and then "that" part of my brain seems to take over and you know blah blah blah. However it is a nice compliment when asked who did the work on your gun 😉
Great deep dive! These have been on my radar for a while now. Do they still offer left-side charging models or is that an aftermarket modification? I don't see the option anywhere on their website. Probably not a deal-breaker for everybody else, but it would be for me. I've just gotten so used to having it with both my RIA and Dissident, I couldn't do without it now. Shoutouts to @pyro1.3gun ! No, you don't need a big mag for EVERY stage, but I think capacity was a valid criticism from the 3gun crowd. I think he may be really opening up the platform for greater acceptance in our sport. Looking forward to seeing a final version of your mid-barrel comp on the market!
This video was great, and I'm absolutely sold on this shotgun now. I'm very interested in getting one for 3gun so I was just curious if you could point me in the right direction on getting a few of those mag couplers that turn two 10's into a 20? Thanks
finally! a video with rifle length barrels! i am interested in this for a clay gun! how exactly do i get a barrel longer than the 18 inch on their website?
Patrick. The video is great and very informative. I have a question about a particular setup you had. The long handguard model. At right around 12:36 in the video. Can you put any handguard on the gen 12? And also what did you do to make the "blast forward device / linear comp". Again great video.
Super Cool! How do you keep clean and maintenance after a couple of 100 rounds? I was told not to take off the handguard and tamper too much with the BCG?
You can remove the bolt for cleaning easily (just like an AR by removing the charging handle and slipping it out the rear of the upper. My PK1 comp is self cleaning. So no need to remove the handguard.
@@PatrickEKelley3gunfun Glad to hear that! No rush, just glad to see you back to yourself again. The last five plus years have been tough on a bunch of us with things we just can't control. Hope you continue to do well. Brian
PATRICK: with all your experience with the GEN 12, what barrel length would you choose for a GEN-12 with a suppressor that is used ONLY for home defense - 7", 10.5", or 18"? I'm leaning towards the 10.5" and need validation. Thanks!!
So I picked up from what I believe is a Gen2 upper from a buddy and am going to give it a try. What shells that you were giving you some fits? I am getting tired of trying to find/buying AA1250's and 1300's because my current open gun has expensive tastes!
If you get the 10.5" that only comes with the milspec buffer tube, do you need to register it as an SBS or only if you choose to get a stock put on it? I am flipping back and forth between the 18" and the 10.5 " and would prefer not to have to pay the extra $200. Thanks in advance.
Where do you get the rails, the barrels, and bushings from? Genesis Arms themselves? I asked one time to see if I could buy a keymod rail like the ones they used to have on the older Gen12s, or the ones used on the John Wick version, and was told no.
They only sell complete guns and uppers other than the small parts like magazine release, and Magwells. I’ve purchased several guns over the last three years.
Did you drill holes in the barrel? If there aren't holes in the barrel that vent into that blast baffle, then it's not actually doing anything but adding weight. Gas has to go into a muzzle brake to work. I understand how the gun works and i get why you put it on the handgaurd. But the barrel going past it, defeats the purpose. Now if you did drill holes in the barrel and i didn't hear you say that, my bad.
You are a sharp dude. Yes over 140 ports milled into the barrel That escaping gas is collected in the expansion chamber and then directed forward imparting energy onto the large rectangular impact baffle.
I live in the Tristate area so justifying $1700 for that upper is a no for me. Why? Cause I’m required to have a fixed mag to the lower. So how would I speed load that? Unless the company mean arms makes a speed loader that can load shells through the ejection port like they do for the AR 10s ,15s.
Not sure what a sr762 lower is. As stated in the video, DPMS pattern Large Frame LR-308 lower comparable. Or any that copy of that pattern. NOT G2, Not Ruger, Not POF...etc.
Hail and Good Morrow from the Oil Patch! Keeping my verbosity in check (you know us historians, 'tangents' are core to the way we think), I'm trying to find a SOLID and RELIABLE AR platform shotgun in .410ga. Why .410ga? 3 Compressions in my neck, 3 Herniations in my lumbar, Shoulder Joint issues, and of course, Malignant Congestive Heart Failure Class 3....... Home Defense is the operative concept within the above health criteria: .410ga is a solid round that will more than suffice for home defense, and the AR platform is the preferred platform for accessory reasons. So, since I know YOU are a Quality Knitpicker, I wanted to see if YOU knew of any, other than the Hatsan AR .410ga, which is already on my list, but for neither love nor money, can I find one; hence my query to you now. So, do you know of any that meet the two main criteria I've noted? Take care and I'll look forward to your next VLOG.... Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY
Hmm 410 mag fed. I don't have a clue. But a 20 gauge might be seen on the small frame gun at some point. Verbose? You? Me? heck ya! We got words that need saying! Best to you.
@@edjecollins4141 Yes they do: unfortunately, like too many others whom have ventured into the fray of the .410 Arsenal, they SCREWED it UP; they offer it ONLY chambered in 2.5", not allowing for 3" shells, except for the First Shot, which you must Load by Hand (the Mag will NOT accommodate the extra length). Though I would prefer Semi-Auto AR style, I've decided to wait for KelTec's offering in a Pump Shotgun, chambered in .410. The KelTec offering is based on their very successful KS7 platform, and does allow for 3" shells. Further, according to the info I have, it should be a 14 rounder, with Plus One in the Chamber to start off any use. Bear Creek quite often comes 'so close' to what people actually want, but then, well, then they get the willies, or something, and come up short nearly every time. They came out with a 'Piston System' for their AR's, with great fanfare, then that 'innovation' dropped off a cliff somewhere and I haven't heard word one about it since. Great ideas but piss poor follow through. Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY
OK explain something to me. What justifies the ridiculous price point on these shotguns? I understand that it's an American made product that I would want to support American companies. But why am I gonna spend 2 grand for a shotgun or 3 grand for a shotgun? What? I can buy 1 for 350 or even 250. That does the same thing. Because for me, ultimately, all it has to do. Is fire a shotgun round? Shoot? Repeat, shoot, repeat shoot. Repeat as long as it does. That. I don't see why I need to spend 3 grand on the shotgun. I am not an Exhibition shooter. But I came across this. Trying to do some research on AR style shotguns. Is it just simply the fact that they know? People will spend the money if the tell people. It's a competition shotgun that it has performance-enhancing features. Like, really, seriously, what makes it so much better? Tolerances craftsmanship. I don't give a c*** about how nice a shotgun looks. But if it is the performance explain to me how the performance is so much better. And I don't know why it costs so much more for removing less material to have tighter tolerances I don't know. I guess I'm just ignorant.
This uses a different system than anything else out there. It simply runs flawlessly. Most other semi auto shotguns use gas operation and struggle with different rounds or light loads. This runs better and more reliably than the $5,000 - $88,000 shotguns out there because of its system. This vídeo is the only one I've seen so far talking about this shotgun in a competition manner. Most other videos on them are covering the 7.5 inch or 10.5 inch barrel models for defensive shooting. 10 $350 shotguns that won't make it through all the ammo you find, aren't worth 5 bucks each. This shotgun actually runs
@edjecollins4141 ok ty my favorite shotgun I own is one I fell in love with as a kid. Model 37 Ithaca pump 12ga. Shot Remington Winchester mossberg but they didnt compare. I know we are talking about totally different things but alay been my favorite. 👍
