Love the sunscreen talk!! Would love to see a mineral round up please! I’m very sensitive to chemical filters. My skin gets super itchy and my eyes cannot handle those filters around them. Thanks so much!!
Same! I tried the Beauty of Joseon hoping I could tolerate the "new generation" chemical sunscreens. It was fabulous for the first 3 days! Day 4 it burned a bit when I applied it. Day 5, my face turned bright red as soon as I put it on. Lesson learned. Mineral only for me 😕
@@jennifern6480 Oh no! I just ordered the Beauty of Joseon :( I sure hope I don't have any reactions. I can't do mineral sunscreens there is something in them that makes me want to wash my face and it bugs me until I do. I love Revision Intellishade Original but it is so expensive. I keep hunting for something more affordable the works for me.
I have similar concerns with chemical sunscreens and my dermatologist has said just stick to mineral I’m in Australia and we have some fabulous sunscreens. My favourite daily go to is Naked Sundays Collagen Mineral Glow. Ultra Violet Lean screen and the new Bondi Sands Mineral Sunscreens are lovely.
@@jeanettemccullough1573 I hope the Joseon works for you! I think the Revision is one of the few I haven't yet tried. I have several mineral sunscreens I like, but nothing I love.
Another vote for mineral sunscreen faves, please. Specifically cosmetically elegant, SPF50+ with wildly high UVA protection, reef safe, sensitive eye safe, for combo dehydrated skin, that replace the need for a separate moisturiser, perform beautifully under makeup or alone, without pilling or creating flaky areas where there were none before… Don’t ask for much, do I 😅
You would probably have better luck seeing pigs fly before you see this kind of mineral sunscreen you requested LoL I have been searching years for a mineral sunscreen with all these attributes and still no luck LoL
@@hannahsurbaugh9180 thanks I've tried the r and r sunscreen but it irritated my eyes and left a greasy residue that didn't dry down.i was hoping it would work for me but it didn't.
@@hannahsurbaugh9180 It looks like The Dream! I was all set to buy after seeing it recommended by some of my skintype twins but unfortunately the tint is too dark for me, it’d be great if they expanded the shade range🤞
@@Pawpawpause Oh my goodness, tell me about it! I feel like I could fill a truck with the ones I have that have been tried, been tested, and found wanting 🤷🏼♀️
Love the Korean sunscreens. Their chemical sunscreens do not irritate my skin like the US based ones do. I would love to get the mineral recommendations. I use them when my rosacea flares up
@Trinity M not sure if you've tried them already, but at Target both Black Girl Sunscreen and Vanicream have mineral sunscreens that do not leave a white cast. They're very good. I prefer the first if wearing makeup over it and the second if it's a no makeup day.
Yes, definitely will LOVE to see what your favorite mineral body sunscreens that leave minimal to no white cast on medium-darker skin tones. Thank you so much for all your time and effort!
I love the Banana Boat! I run hot and sweaty and this sunscreens is a lifesaver!! Its one I will wear everyday and not feel like my body is covered in heavy plastic and sweltering from the inside out! Truly!! ... Please do another video about mineral sunscreens. My skin is sensitive and rosacea prone and I have very occasional hormonal breakouts. Its nice to have other options. Love your channel! Wish you were closer to Connecticut!!
Oh PLEASE PLEASE do a video of the gentlest sunscreens to use while rosacea is not under control. And maybe what sunscreens you recommend for ocular rosacea when things are bad and it seems like everything on earth irritates your eyes. Thank you
Dr Ellis recommendations of The beauty of Joseon is right on point, love love, love, I have never had a sunscreen that feel so amazing, I just wish it comes in 500ml tube🫰thank you Dr Ellis🙏
Would love to see a video on mineral sunscreens next. And thanks for including the water resistant aspect for us runners 😊. My favorite currently is the La Roche Posay UVMune 400, but I have to import it since it’s not sold in the US. Going to try the tinted version of that next if I can get my hands on it!
@@leasanders3902 thanks--good to know! I'm olive skin toned so not sure how it will look on me! Also got the Colorscience tinted one since they seem to have a shade range to pick from. Trying to find my new holy grail :)
You are my go-to Dermatologist. I have told my male friends about you, especially surfers and lap pool participants. You give such good information on sunscreens. Thank you very much from Marin County, CA.
YES! Please do a mineral sunscreen round up for face and body! Love your videos. Very informative and super helpful. I would also love a recommendation for sports like surfing where you are in the water and sun for a long time, but it does not really matter how your face looks but you just want super good protection.
Omg I just got that new purito soft touch sunscreen and it is one of the ONLY Korean sunscreens that doesn’t make me look like a complete grease ball! It’s soooo stinking good! And reapplication is just as good I love it
I am a K beauty enthusiast and I have been trying out upon a RU-vid recommendation for the Mary & May Cica spf… it’s giving my holy grail (isntree watery sun gel) a run for its money 😊
I have been a "lighter than air" fan since it came out. Currently, Black Girl Kids sunscreen is what I use for travel. At 3 oz, not fragrance and it feels like the lighter than air sunscreen when applied, it's a real winner that fits in my liquids bag.
I'd definitely like a mineral sunscreen video. I'm currently using (and liking) the Australian Gold tinted mineral sunscreen SPF 50 for my face and the SPF 70 (non-tinted) version for my arms, etc.
I would love a video on mineral sunscreen for brown skin that doesn't leave a white cast. I'm South Asian with medium brown skin and it's hard to find a mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast. Thanks for this video.
You should absolutely try the Mad about skin sunscreen Spf 50 ++++ - all the new filters and hydrating, so Oily-skinned people can skip the moisturiser. So nice even under make up - it became my new favourite over the BOJ sunscreen, which I found a bit drying.
2nd MAS Sunscreen. Its thick but very moisturising. I also like that the formula is made to be applied twice a day not like others who need it done every 2/24.
For european people, “Aqua fusion” spf 50 from Isdin it’s gorgeous! Light weight, great under makeup, super manageable texture during the application, hydrating but not sticky for sensitive/combination skin. Holy Grail for me! ☺️
Thank you for all your recommendations! I have found lots of great products and sunscreens because of your videos and I really appreciate it! One face sunscreen I really like is the Ombrelle Sensitive Expert Face Sunscreen SPF 60. It feels really nice on the skin and I don't mind it under make up and is really affordable.
I’d love to see a video from you on when to dispose of various cosmetic products (eye shadows, lip gloss/lipsticks, bronzers, blush, etc.) and the risks of using old products. Lots of content on that but little of it is from certified practitioners such as yourself.
Love love love Banana Boat Light as Air! In a pinch, I put some on my face, and neither the chemical sunscreen factor nor the fruity gum fragrance irritated my skin or eyes in the least. A fantastic value.
The BOJ and Skin1004 are currently in my rotation, too! For body, I've been using Supergoop Play and the Bondi Sands ones. My holy grail is the Drmtlgy untinted. :)
Loving the La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Fluid Body SPF, and yeah like you said it works on face already, just more affordable so they sell you small bottles for face 😉
Yes please to mineral sunscreens - I am super sensitive to all chemical sunscreens (I have tried thus far) particularly around the eye area. However I hate heavy sunscreens so any lightweight mineral ones would be hugely appreciated!
I love your videos and make sure I don't miss any, especially if it covers sun protection. They are my favourite videos! You introduced me to the Korean sunscreens and I am in love! My current fav is one you actually showed in a video about best gift ideas. It is the Isntree HA sun gel SPF 50+++. I was skeptical of this one at first as I never tried a gel before, but omg, I am in love 😍 My skin tends to be on the drier side and this makes my skin so glowy and works great under makeup.
I like Eucerin Advanced Hydration Sunscreen Lotion - SPF 50 , doesn't leave a white cast and is less than $15.00. Also hydrating for mature skin, so no moisturizer needed on face
Elta MD UV clear or La Roche-Posay tinted mineral if sweating, beauty of joseon sun stick for reapplication and for the body, Shiseido ultimate sun protect or aveeno protect + hydrate
I would love to hear your mineral sunscreen reviews also. Thanks for these reviews. I think I’ll try the Purito soft touch. I have rosacea though not bad now. Thanks!
I love the Banana Boat Lighter than Air! It’s the most comfortable sunscreen I’ve ever used. Can you apply any or all of these to the eyelids? Thank you!
Yes please on mineral sunscreens even though I have problems with zinc oxide I think so not for my face. But I can on my body. I have multiple contact allergies including fragrance, BHT and propylene glycol plus a few others. Thank you for your videos. Lots of great information.
I’m so sorry to go off topic but I NEED to know what makeup you’re wearing in this video!! You’re always stunning but you look extra bronzed & glowy & flawless here!😍
I enjoyed the video today. Especially the layout of different styles of sunscreens. Everyone should have different types of sunscreen for different occasions. Especially body
Ordered Purito and BOJ, can’t wait to try them out! Wish I knew about the soft touch Purito before ordering, I think I would have preferred that over the regular one. This is my first time trying Korean brands.
May you please make a favorite okay for sensitive skin sunscreens video? Not necessarily mineral only. Thank you for making these videos, you're a lifesaver!
Reef safe is an unregulated term and any brand can put that on their package, I have seen some say "Hawaii reef bill compliant" which tells you a bit more I guess since the science behind that is not exactly what the media makes it out to be.
Hi Dr Ellis. Love these videos. I use the mineral based Australian gold tinted sunscreen. Can you please recommend your favourite mineral sunscreens? These don’t sting on my eyelids. ❤😊
What body sunscreen do you recommend that don’t have chemicals like Octisalate(4.0%), Octocrylene(5.0%? But also, does not leave a white layer on your body?
Been using the skin aqua (blue bottle) for many years now. This sunscreen doesn’t sting my eyes, doesn’t break me out, and looks good on the skin. It has a dewy look, which I like. From time to time I buy and try other brands because it’s fun, but I just always end up wasting money because I cannot tolerate it and I will stop using it. There has been no other sunscreen to beat this one yet.
I've been using Coppertone Sport Sunscreen Spray for a few years. I don't love it, but I like the ease of using it. We have a pool so our summers are spent in the water and we buy and go through a lot of sunscreen. An affordable effective option is a must. I'm excited to try the Banana Boat.
I also love the Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm. It is the only cleansing balm/oil that I can use that does not burn my skin. I have such sensitive skin!!!! I do love their sunscreen!!!
It'd be great if you could do a video on mineral sunscreens too. I found this Korean mineral sunscreen called "Torriden DIVE IN Mild Suncream" that's vegan and fragrance free. I'd love to know your thoughts on it if you try it! 😁
That Banana Boat is 🔥 for the fragrance only! The fragrance is very addictive, I love it 🤣 Also it is very comfortable to wear. One of the hidden gem, but in Asia it has a different name.
I love Ultra Violette Supreme Screen and Extreme Screen, and The Cancer Council Face Day Wear Serum. All SPF 50 and broad spectrum. Australia doesn’t do the PA system.
Hello! I think it's Skin one thousand four :) 1004 is Cheon Sa in Korean which also sounds like Cheonsa (Angel) so it's really Skin Angel. Thank you for the reviews! I love how you explain things, so informative with an audience friendly tone. Take care always!
@@DrSamEllis omg Dr Sam replied to meeee. I'm a kpop nut that's the only reason I know this.... Also ... I love your videos. My daughter and i recently started using a dandruff shampoo with ketoconazole similar to nizoral.. we basically followed the steps on your video about treating dandruff and our scalps feel great I'm going to leave this comment on that video again omg. Thank you Dr Ellis. You're awesome...
My current favorite sunscreen for my face is Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer moisturizing sunscreen serum (Fragrance Free), it is great under make-up and is portable. Aveeno Mineral if I am not putting on a full face, around the house or to run quick errands. Sun Bum Face--my daughter and I both use this for the beach. I am 58 with dry to very dry in the winter and dry to normal in the summer. My skin is hypersensitive, my daughter is 27 with normal to dry skin in the winter and normal to slightly oily skin in the summer.
Thanks, Dr. Sam! I love how trendy sunscreens are becoming. Do you recommend wearing body sunscreen daily even if inside? I wear face sunscreen every day but not sure if it’s necessary to wear body sunscreen daily as well. Thanks!
I like the Soft Finish screen and Surprise sunscreen. My daughter is getting married May 27th in Chicago. I will be wearing makeup. Many days I just use sunscreen, then line my eyes and use mascara. After I give myself eyebrows, I use a colored lip balm and I am good to go.
I always go with water resistant sunscreen especially in warm and humid weather. I love the Anessa UV Skincare Milk. I tried the Korean but they seem not to be waterproof. Love the Japanese sunscreens. Went to the beach all day and it works.
