I wasn't happy with the tapering jig I had for my woodworking and furniture building projects, so I decided to build one that I could adapt to whatever project I needed it for.
In this video I use leftover plywood, threaded inserts and toggle clamps to make what I feel is a super versatile jig for woodworking. 💪🏻
👇🏻Very Important👇🏻😉

Thank You For Taking the Time to Make This Concise Informative Video I might add that the use of a runner, rather than using the table saw fence allows nearly unlimited sizes of parts to be tapered. However, a couple of stop blocks fit the end and sides would insure repeatable accuracy. Typically I use a scissors type tapering jig or make one out of scrap for one off use with stop blocks. Stop blocks can be temporarily placed with CA glue placed inside a sandwich of blue painters tape, so the same dumb sheet of plywood can be used multiple times. My hold downs are a piece of wood on top of the part screwed onto the plywood base. But your jig is much more higher tech.

glad you enjoyed it! i appreciate the comment. I think there are some benefits to other jigs but i've been using this one on a bedside table commission (since finishing this video) and I'm still liking how it functions. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻

Brilliant. Making one this week. I figure I’ll add common angles to be ahead of the game. Many thanks!!! 🙌

awesome! yeah, adding some common angles would be a great idea. I've found the jig to be especially helpful when i'm doing several pieces with the same cut. Currently making a pair of walnut bedside tables and it was super helpful! 👍🏻. Thanks for watching!

Well done Seth! Very nice tapering jig that I will have to make myself. I was wondering if it would be possible to use magnetic catches to hold those toggles in place. That way they would be very easy to move around. Just a thought? BTW, you have a new subscriber! 👍👍
@stuffsethmakes
@stuffsethmakes 11 месяцев назад
great thought on the magnets, but (if i'm picturing that idea correctly) I don't know if the magnets would be strong enough to hold the toggle clamp in place as you lock down the lever. Having them screws down really allows them to stay put. But again, maybe what im picturing in my head isn't what you mean🤦🏻‍♂️😆. There's more than one way to skin a cat! haha! Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub!🙌🏻
