The real magic is turning 10 seconds of sleight of hand and 5 seconds of a standard force into 8 minuets of entertainment. A true professional entertainer.
Yeah, the "magic" stuff everyone knows that is illusionism, a trick, somehow the "magician" manage to fool everyone, but mix it with a true comedian talent and the magic really happen.
Just takes practice. Imo, Ive always been more impressed by sleight of hand than magic. Anyone can do magic, you just need to know the trick. It takes skill and practice to pull off well done sleight of hand. And theres always that risk something will go wrong :P
The girls aren't plants - they're real people from the audience, notice how their hands quiver out of nervousness of being on stage. The real trick happens when he has them count the cards in his hand - he then palms 3 cards on the first girls deck and hands it over to her and asks her to hide it. He does the same with the second girl, only this time removing 3 cards before he hands it back for her to hide. Lastly, the guy in the middle is asked to pick a seemingly random card, but he's really fanning the deck in a way that pushes the 3 card into his hand. As the guy reaches deeper into the deck, he pulls away and distracts him with small talk. The second attempt is intentionally made to look like a mistake - it's meant to put pressure on the guy to just quickly pick a card - and when he fans the card the third time, the guy takes the card being pushed towards him subconsciously not realizing that he's just trying to remove the spotlight from himself. Great magician - it uses psychology and sleight of hand to create pressure on the audience member.
dude, he just gets 7 and 13 cards right at the beginning, tossing the original 10 from each person and hands em their respective cards from his pocket with his other hand 2:11. The only thing he needed was a 3 pulled from an audience member, which he got.
@@ieatgrass6984 No. Rick is right. If you pause the video at the exact time. You can see he adds 3 cards to one girls pile. And the second time you can see he creates 2 piles off of the second girls pile (one of 7 on top and one of 3 at the bottom). Then he gives her the top 7 and removes the bottom 3. And like he also said he kinda forces the guy to pick the number 3. At 2:11 if you look closely at his right hand you can see he has a pile of cards that he puts on top. You can't see what he does with the second girl because the camera doesn't show it.
@@Ustaleone at 3:22 you can see he separates the 7 cards from the bottom 3. Hands over the 7 cards to Farah and puts the deck on top of the 3 in his hand to cover them.
Nobody has caught that his first attempt to force the “3” on the guy in the audience failed. So he pulled it away and made a joke about it, then tried again with the same force. Amazing performance
@@JokstarWDF First time seemed to just be cutting away to talk, then the second time seemed to be the mistake, since he actually grabbed a card, but it was pulled away before he had a chance to take it out fully.
PJbottoms yes I am insulting his intelligence but not for no reason, you shouldn’t make assumptions like that. He is an an idiot for revealing the trick, nobody wants to know that he knows how the trick is done.
yeah, he probably looked at his assortment of cards and saw there was more 3s than other numbers, then put the threes in the center were they are more likely to take the card from
@@KingRockets "Hand is quicker than the eye" is a very common expression used magicians doing the "ball and cup game." When she tried to place the cards in her rear pants pocket he said it wouldn't work because "the hand is _not_ quicker than the thigh."
Anonymous Accordionist might just be my dirty mind, but from his whole set i thought maybe it would be dirty again, as in how thighs close onto ur hand so fast before u get to touch something when ur girl is mad at you. haha
I've seen more of this guy's videos now. People keep talking about the magic as if that was the whole point of this. This is about ENTERTAINMENT and this guy's giving is a stellar performance.
@@fuhckme8845 Sleight of Hand, when you use your hands to make tricks that appear to be magical. As opposed to crafting tools that let you do tricks that appear magical. As an example comparison; The magician that swaps arounds cards or can guess which card was where is using sleight of hand. The magician that uses specially designed 'swords' to make it look like they cut someone up is using tools. Both are equally entertaining and the best magicians use both.
@@justsomeweebwithamustache2674 The bots copy a random comment from the video and post it. That's how their comment becomes relevant to the video. I literally saw bots 'Light', 'Dark', 'nub' etc do it. The bots I mentioned I had seen in multiple videos, even of different languages with with comments in those specific languages. I was baffeled at first, but then I saw multiple of their comments being copy of other previous comments and then I realised. This one might be a bot too if he doesn't give relevant replies under his comment, just saying as he's under literally so many videos.
Great version of -- I think it's called "Cards Across," another classic where the main point is now the performance. Chris has a lot of potential branching dialogue/jokes in this patter, and he follows it smoothly from step to step. I've seen this done seriously/mystically, I've seen it done with cheese slices for sheer schtick, but I have to say I like this "just naughty enough to play anywhere" the best so far. He gives it that nudge-nudge wink-wink treatment that makes it a little vaudeville for the grownups without tipping over into crass. That's a fine line to script for.
All 'magic' acts are about the performance. Many performers choose a persona like this one. Some the dramatic wizard, who rarely speaks or doesn't speak at all, some the clumsy clown. The trick is all about misdirection, timing, and pleasing the audience. They are there to be entertained. There could be 2 hours of performance and just 3 tricks, but if they spent 110 minutes and laughing and 10 minutes silently and intently watching, they'll never feel disappointed. A magician who walks on stage, does this trick in 2 mins and walks off is a very poor performer.
Hard to believe it was only 5 years that people could sit through a performance like this, with it's cheeky humor, and enjoy themselves. Now tell me how the same video looks in your head when you imagine that this was performed at Anywhere College Campus
@@temp4279Some of the jokes were badly timed no matter what time you could be in, but you can tell he of course meant well. Tried to slip in some hot contestants jokes but forcing them to put it in their bras was a little questionable.
I think magic tricks are more magical if there's a story. If you saw someone in half and finish in 3 seconds, it's kind of boring. Just like when I finish with my girlfriend in 3 seconds. I'm just kidding, that never happens. I need a girlfriend before it can happen.
It's called presentation. No one wants to see him stand up there and hammer put trick after trick, that's what uncles are for at kids birthday parties.
This is very entertaining. Notice how much fun everyone is having. I love the way the performer, Chris Hannibal, is directing everyone to keep them laughing. Most people go to a magic show to be entertained. This is entertainment, Bravo.
Yeah. Honestly his second sleight wasn't even well done (not that his first was great). But the performance was top notch. I have the Royal Road to Card Magic and the entire first section of the book is dedicated to the idea that the only real skill a magician needs is the skill of patter.
really easy trick. when he got the cards to check them and hand it over back to them after they counted them he gave the girl on his left the 7cards deck and to the right 13cards. they never even put the 10deck cards in their bras. and when he goes to the man to give him a card, he just pulls up a stack of cards mixed of number 3 in them.
no they are not actresses. I actually checked it frame by frame. after they count the cards there is a delay between getting cards from them, distracting everyone by a joke and giving it back to them to put them back... in between he takes/puts 3 cards in there.
At 3:26 he adds more 3's to the deck then "shuffles" them putting the 3's where he wants them. It looks like when the guy goes to pick his card Chris points with his thumb to the 3's, and the guy didn't catch on the first two times that's why Chris pulled away early. On the third try the guy either caught on or by chance went for the group of 3's
His performance is truly outstanding . He knows well how to steal and direct your attention to his liking while he cheats you (2:11 the +3 cards can be seen in his right hand and then added with the initial 10 cards in his left) . Nicely done sir ✔
@@kafridon OK, but then how did he force Brett to take a three? He had a deck of 32 random cards, which might conceivably have not had any threes in it at all. How could he insure that the random guy in the audience would choose a three?
Initially he attempted 2 times to force him the card number 3 but he failed . He covered it by telling a joke , diverting the audience's attention somewhere else . On his 3rd attempt he made card number 3 more ''reachable'' and easier to grab and with a bit of luck , he made it . I bet that even if Brett would have chosen the wrong card the 3rd time , he would have come up with something else ( a joke , small act etc ) and then try again and again .
He reminds me of the Amazing Johnathon in his joke delivery. I'm a big fan of comedy and magic mixed together which is why I usually watch guys like them and Penn and Teller over the more showmen magicians. I need to look up more of his stuff.
I have heard about Hannibal's version of the card across trick and just had the pleasure to see it performed today for the first time. Getting more than eight minutes of entertainment with it, along with a kinky but nevertheless classy performance is the mark of the greatest. This is highly entertaining, as usual with Mr Hannibal. Hats off sir!
It's nice seeing what happens in stage magic when you whiff the CF lol. As an amateur magician, I always admired those that had the balls to do it in front of people.(if i fail i do another trick) I also admire how you can use such a simple concept, and craft some true entertainment around it with humor and showmanship. (I re-watched it....I learned why you did what you did.)
Timing is everything. He didn't describe the plot before he did the magic. That way no one will suspect he did anything to those stacks. By the time people know the plot, there is nothing left to see.
Of course you can see it when you can look for it, but in real time, even on a recording, 99% of people missed it the first time. He’s got talent...and adult humor. Everyone’s cool with any mainstream comedian that says anything controversial...unless it’s about trump...then it’s “You don’t like it, get outta my cOuNtRy!”
Mr. Hannibal - THANK YOU! I haven't laughed that hard in a L-o-o-o-o-onng time. I had to pause twice in the last 90 seconds and get it together! Really needed the laugh.
This is the second video (by this guy) I watch. While it IS possible to see the trick if you watch the video a couple of times knowing the outcome, the showmanship is awesome. Great presence, quick wit and above all, perfect misdirection. Those tricks are meant for live audiences, with no benefit or replay. Great, just great!
@3:22 if you go on 0.25 speed and check his hand, you can see how he split the cards and took a few out with his left hand. However, the Trick only works if you know exactly how many cards they need to end up with, so the guy HAD to pick a 3.
That def was the smoothest of the 3. I recommend everyone learns a 1 handed cut. Its super easy and you can teach yourself in 5 mins. might wanna use your non dominate hand
I really enjoy watching these performances as they ar truly funny and are more than enough to enjoy a high quality show with a smile and also understand all things that are being done ;) Excellent and may the 4th be with us :D
Three separate parts to the trick: 1. Bring 3 palmed cards in his right hand and add them to the ten counted out by Meghan (2:11) 2. Cut 3 cards from the ten counted out by Farah and palm them behind with his left hand (3:21-3:23) 3. Manipulate the cards so that Barret gets a 3. The rest of the patter puts these together. Meghan counted out ten cards and Mr. Hannibal added three more, so she put away 13. Farah counted out ten cards and he took away 3, so she put away 7. I suspect the hardest part is getting Barret to choose a 3. Great illusion, well-done presentation.
3:22 His left middle finger is placed marking three cards on the bottom. When he switches the cards to his right hand to give the cards to the woman on the right, he only picks up 7. Same thing with the other woman except he takes 3 cards from his pocket as she counts and proceeds to place them in the stack with his right hand.
I had to subscribe after this one. I've watched a few of Chris's videos and he is incredibly talented, funny and entertaining. Awesome stuff here. Huge like here.
I was jumping around YT watching random vids, just killing time and clicked on this one. I'm glad I did, this guy is very good and hugely entertaining. I read about a hundred comments, new and old, and I didn't see any mean ones. Wow, it's turning out to be a great day!
