My Favourite Street Photography film camera: The OLYMPUS XA 2 

This is perfect as I just bought this today. Shot my first roll and gave it for development straight away. I am amazed at how quiet this is and you are so right that this is a true point and shoot as you can just capture that decisive moment so easily. AF point and shoots apart from taking time to focus also make a bit of noise so not ideal for street photography.

Love how you describe this camera. I like it because of how you said, just pull it out, shoot, move on. You can't do that with auto focus or manual as easily. I have a couple of different cameras but the XA2 is my go to for a lot of situations. Great review. I'm subscribed.

I love the XA series of cameras. I've just received my XA4 which was missing from my collection. My XA2 is the camera that I used to take around the most. Let's see if the XA4 is the new daily carry.

I recently acquired an XA2, and yes without the flash it’s surprisingly small. Your methodology of focusing make allot of sense. Half people full length people or landscape is easy to understand vs converting from meters to feet. Thanks for the tip

Great video! I just found the xa2 at my grandpa's house in a box with still a filmrol inside of it from at least 25 years old! I'm really glad that I can shoot on a family camera. I had a mju II for over a year and i love the workflow of the xa2 way more!

One of the great all time cameras. I’m not a street photographer ; in fact I hate the term because it usually implies random or in-your-face photos. That said, this is a really good stealth tool. I can sit outside at Starbucks, place it on the table as I sip my coffee and snap an occasional photo. The lens is wide enough that your can get the shot without bringing the camera to your eye.

Interesting thoughts on the Olympus XA2, like you say I think it is very underrated. I've had a few different mju models and enjoy using them, I currently have an mju zoom 105. I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with another retro 35mm film photographer 📸? I'll have a read up on Yoshihisa Maitani the inventor of these cameras.

what film speed would you recommend for the camera? I use 200 on most of my film cameras, and I have xa3 coming in the mail (which is basically same as xa2 with dx coding plus few other things). I heard 400 is sweet spot for it?

Thanks for the video, and I took a look on ebay. The prices are a little high for a good looking XA2 that works. A lot of them are parts cameras. So I tried another search. I typed in zone focus cameras. One of the first camera to pop up was the Minolta Hi-Matic G. There is a very good video done by EduardoPavezGoye for this camera. I seen one on ebay that looks good to me. The seller is asking $26. I am going to pull the trigger.

This is definitely my next film camera !! I have the Canon sureshot but this camera is something I’ve been wanting for a very long time. If you don’t mind me asking where did you get it from ?
