Congrats on landing that one, 15T is a good reel little small for night jigging, i wouldn't normally using anything smaller than a Mak16 on a 80-150 rod (xxxh), all that matters is that you got the fish though, must have had a good crew to help you work that fish in.
Congratulations! To fight the fish easier, remove the top hook from your jig. It seemed like the top hook was snagged on the body, and you were pulling the tuna sideway. That's why it took 1.5 hour
I used the phenix diamond PSW 700xh(30-80lb),okuma makaira 15t ,100lb test hollowcore braid with a top shot (5-6ft 300lb mono) the jig I used was 400 g daiwa riproller
Nope unless everyone is lucky to get one or 2 ..2 is the limit but you can continue fishing if you want and share the rest for those who don’t have one..there are days that produce but sometimes only few got lucky so you go home empty handed unless someone will share
I grew up fishing these SD boats. Bluefin can be very hit or miss. Most bluefin trips ive gone home empty handed but some others i got quality limits. If you ever cone out, try to book a couple 1.5 day trips with a day or two between of rest and sightseeing. These 2 seperate trys will get you the best chance of getting bluefin.
Congratulations! I didn’t catch the total weight? Was that a Mak if so what size. I have my first trip of five coming up this Friday. Two 1.5 days two 2.5 days and a 4.5. All out of HM. Trying to get into the cow club. Largest is a 187 in 17 minutes.
