So you have a intake duration of 180 degrees. and for the exhaust 110. Could you explain why the exhaust have a shorter duration? The duration 0f 180 degrees for the intake looks fair, because better volumetric eff. in lower rpm. At the moment I'm building a 1 cil. But are looking for intake and exhaust duration of 200-220 degrees. For aiming rpm target 2500-3000 rpm

grazie, la maggiore difficoltà sta proprio nel realizzare l'accoppiamento pistone (aluminio) - cilindro (ghisa). Prima fai il cilindro e fai una super lappatura poi realizzi il pistone. Nel mio caso come fascia elastica ho utilizzato un'OR per alte temperature (è arancione, lo si trova ovunque), viene commercializzato come Viton. Funziona meglio che una fascia elastica in ghisa (abbastanza difficile da realizzare). Fai conto che il mese scorso ho tenuto acceso il motore per 3 ore consecutive. Smontato e verificato l'accoppiamento.. ancora perfetto. Il pistone ha un diametro di 25mm e una corsa di 24mm, Al minimo sta sui 600 rpm al massimo 3500. Tra il disegno cad e la realizzazione, avendo poco tempo a disposizione, è passato circa un'anno. La soddisfazione che si prova al primo avvio ripaga il tempo trascorso per questo "semplice motore". Ora mi sto dedicando al disegno di un V4 sempre 4 tempi. Ciao
the actual amount of teeth is insignificant, its only the ratio that counts. Its a four stroke engine, so intake compression power exhaust. intake is piston going from tdc to bdc (tdc is top dead center and bdc is bottom dead center) and then compression is piston going up to tdc again. So thats one revolution for two of the four strokes. then power is when combustion forces the piston down, going from tdc to bdc, and exhaust is from bdc to tdc. now keep in mind thats two revolutions of the crankshaft, while the valves only opened once. (each).Thus the camshaft needs to rotate at half the speed of the crankshaft to achieve opening the valves once per two engine rotations. So you would need to have the gear on the camshaft have twice the teeth than the one on the crankshaft. if you're off by one tooth, it would pull itself out of time after a couple rotations, and if its an interference motor, could suffer catastrophically. So in short, Half the amount of teeth on crankshaft than on camshaft.
Is the piston sucking up the fuel inside a chamber? Combustion chamber, I think. Or carburator.... Never tinkered with an engine, unfortunately. Never had the chance.

oil is added to the fuel for lubrication of piston & cylinder . cooling can easily be done with a copper pipe coiled on the cylinder head with water dripping. mind you this is for demonstration purpose which means it's meant to run for a short time. As far as i understood the air is beeing sucked in by the cylinder through the blue tube, which forces the air to flow through the petrol, which causes bubbles and more petrol gases. These fumes or petrol air gases are then sucked into the cylinder through the transparent tubing.
Pelo que eu entendo , o cabeçote é oco e dividido em duas partes , a da adimição e da exaustão.as válvulas têm o formato de pregos . Quando o pistão desce a válvula abre-se e como o pistão está descendo a pressão na Câmara de exploração diminui e faz com que o combustível entra. Quando o pistão começa a subir a válvula de admissão se fecha o pistão sobe comprime o combustível e logo após o pistão ultrapassar seu ponto mais alto a vela de ignição produza uma faísca que queima a mistura provocando o alimento de gases que empurra o pistão para baixo. Após a Queima o pistão desce e começa a subir novamente , é quando a válvula de escape se abre e o pistão empurra a mistura para fora da câmara da camara. Note que o motor realiza seu ciclo completo em 4 tempos o que dá nome do motor . Para que você consiga sincronizar o tempo das válvulas você deve fazer com que. O eixo que sai da árvore de manivelas tenha metade do tamanho do eixo que movimenta as válvulas ou seja: para cada2 giros do eixo motriz o eixo que comanda as válvulas girar apenas uma vez pois as válvulas de admissão e exaustão têm que abrir e fechar uma vez para cada dois giros do eixo motor .
