I can't believe I actually got the prep work done and many of my plants planted. I was going to plant my peppers today but tonight it will be in the low 40s and I didn't want to chance hurting them. They can stay in the greenhouse a few more days.
Hopefully the next tour you will be able to see much more growth. If this rain continues (yes, there is more in our future) then things should really kick of well.
I hope your gardens are going well too! If you have a small pot in your house or several thousand square feet I pray blessings on your work and gardens. I love being outside in mine and hope you enjoy yours too! It is a lot of work and you should be applauded for being willing to garden.
Here is a link to the CobraHead tool I was talking about. I haven't tried it yet but I sure can't wait to give it a try. I'll let you know how I like it in my next garden video.
Blessings until next time!
Penny

I think I would be serving some rabbit stew soon! I have one 'prolific' rabbit in the weed hedge row and my cat was keeping the babies at bay but we finally have new neighbors and they are cleaning up the area and fencing it in for a dog. So happy that they are being good neighbors and keeping their dog contained. I've spent quite a bit on injuries to my cat due to previous owners and thanks to them we have this 12 foot weed hedge now that really needs to be cleaned out. So much to do. Your garden looks amazing. It is so neat, colorfully striped, and the energy it must give you (even when it takes some, also) is wonderful for a gardener. ADORE that play kitchen. What a blessing you are to those grandkids. Some of my fondest memories were my grandmother's back yard, garden, enormous fig tree, cement pond full of guppies, salamanders around the edge, tadpoles just waiting for a jar to grow in, frogs for music, and flowers around the edge. She taught us how to humanely catch butterflies and enjoy them then release and, how to 'pin' the occasional dead one for framing, gave us the chore of feeding the mayo jars FULL of baby guppies she just couldn't toss (the jars lined her bedroom walls), and finally, have us make cookies and pies with her leftover biscuit dough made on a plank of wood and cut with a butter knife. We sprinkled violet petals on top and she always said they were too pretty to eat and they magically disappeared at night replaced with a new batch of biscuit dough after breakfast. Fresh biscuits were a 2 times a day regular on her table. She also taught us the magic of firefly lights. We would each get a jar and catch them before bed then sleep with our "night lights" next to the bed. She showed us how to catchthen release the salamanders and what black widows looked like. We visited every summer for two weeks from Wisconsin and her South Carolina home was one of our favorite places to visit. You do remind me a lot of her gentle ways but always productive. Thanks for the garden tour and pleasant memories!

Oh Mary, I so love hearing from you! I believe you should probably write a book. Everything I read that you write just draws me in. All of those fond memories take me back to going to my grandmother‘s house for two weeks out of the summer as well! We live in Missouri and she was in Southern Illinois right on the Ohio river. She was actually about two blocks from the river. That meant we got to go find all kinds of treasures there as well as along the railroad tracks that we had to cross before getting to the river. There was a big old house across the street from her that we always wondered if anyone actually lived in. We would come up with great stories as to who lived there and why he only came out at night. Fish fries, and homemade ice cream were always an event during our stay. The scraps from her big garden fed the pigs in her barn. About 75 cousins lived in and around the same little town. My mom was the only one of 7 to move away. So we always had someone to visit with. We would walk to church on a Sunday morning and walk to aunt’s houses to visit. I so wish I lived in a small town, and could still enjoy this type of living. She would have ladies over for a quilting bee and one lady would come down and sit in the rocker and just talk to her. I don’t think she quilted and I really don’t think she liked to work much. She liked to come down and watch my grandma be productive.like I would sit and watch my grandmother sew. She made dresses for me through that two weeks we were there, without a pattern of course) and then I would organize all of her fabric scraps, buttons, and threads. And yes! Absolutely yes to the buttermilk biscuits made on a board with a well in the middle of the pile of flour. That’s why I love making biscuits to this day! Thank you, Mary, for bringing back all of my memories as I read yours! I love you dear friend! 😘

Your garden looks so well maintained despite the rain. Here in Canada, we were already being told in April that we are in a drought. But God has blessed us with rain and my perrienials are growing almost an inch a day. We have cold and short growing seasons to contend with but amazing black soil and long days in the summer. My veg garden will go in after the last frost day which is in late May. I have literally hundreds of plants growing under lights in my basement plant room. Can't wait to get them in the ground. I look forward to seeing how your garden grows and good luck with that rascally rabbit. Blessings
