Join me for a trip down memory lane, I picked up a used Zoom 505 guitar effects processor cheap on eBay, this was my very first effects pedal back when I was in school in the mid-late 90s. How does it stack up today? As bad as I remember? Lets find out!

Some really wonky effects, but some aren’t terrible. Never tried editing any either.it’s also fun to run a mic through it and see what happens.

Band called Amplifier used band B4 on a song called The Sick Rose, on their album The Octopus. it's got quite an intro but the main part is that preset. Dude used to have a colossal pedalboard (well, acuallt three of them!) and used the 505 for modulation.

Awesome, I know there’s people that swear by these older units, Dave Simpson on RU-vid uses and loves a zoom G2 which was a newer iteration of this.

Not such a bad pedal. I would say it's extremely useful. Looks like you can easily edit the patches👍

It’s not bad, mainly just the pre-sets that are a little over the top.

Its no Tone X One but for the price its better than nothing. Funny thing is I used mine lastnight, no joke, the presets are not great.

Yeah man, I recon with some tweaking it would sound ok, £25 is pretty cheap 😂

Not gonna lie there are a LOT of usable tones in this thing. Zoom did a ridiculously good job on it for the time. Pre POD.... i mean, through a good amp you can easily dial in usable stuff. Biggest issue would be the coloration of the raw tone.

That was nostalgicly shonky 😂😂 there were some not horrible sounds on it, but the drive really shows it's age

Haha yeah it’s got some proper 80s/90s sounds, tempted to see if they can be toned back a bit though and get something more usable.

I played in a band in 1999 and used this pedal for leads and slapback delays. I've kept it and all the other guitar equipment for our occasional reunion shows. Not a bad box but really colored the amp tone with its poor sampling.
