It's him dying because other people are running through tripwires that deal damage to the entire raid. Not saying he doesn't make mistakes, but this wasn't his mistake
Teringventje Nah, the guy is probably used to the standard markdown formatting where a single asterisk makes a phrase _italic_ and a double asterisk makes it *bold* . That's considered conventional and I've no idea why RU-vid decided to go with this unintuitive formatting instead
you know its a achievement were you have to hit every thing for glory of the burning throne raider and you should keep your dumb street stuff to yourself!
well, aggramar was killed by sargares and his soul was put into an avatar. Argus wasnt explained, much like teh whole raid, but i think they siphoned so much energy out of him that he was a little scrawny dude
and he hasnt been born natuarly yet like the other titans where, so argus the unmaker was basicly a baby titan still and having his power drained is prolly why we could beat him.
By the way illidan didn't have to stay there, he wanted to stay there. Everything he'd done in his life was to defy him and his pride wouldn't let illidan let someone else jail sargeares or illidan maybe even wanted to have a fight with sargeares and take him on.(sorry for spelling)
@MonkPaw - No, just no. He's said *time and time again* "the hunter is nothing without the hunt." He wanted to stay because this is what brings him contentment. This is what he wanted most. It's not to die to Sargeras; it's so he can "feast" on his prey (note the use of quotes there).
Matthew Fox completely irrelevant to the section. You feel better now that youve gotten that load off? We already know that we need the help of illidan with the pantheon to fight the void.
Illidan didn't have to stay, he wanted to stay. He said he'd been waiting a long time for it. It's not like he isn't smart enough to find his way back to us someday anyway.
i disagree about the character development thing. look how velen has learned from illidan. velen now realizes that we make our own destiny, and not everything is up to fate. i think that is a pretty big character transformation
also, my understanding is this. illidan did not HAVE to stay back, he WANTED TO. but im no loremaster (seriously) so i could be and probably am wrong on that.
Maybe he will like torture him at first, then make him explain things and in the end they might come to an agreement and they might return in the future to help us in some way
No, I agree with Asmongold a 100% here. A little more dialog from the titans was much needed but all we got were some generic whispers from aoenar and 2 lines from Aman'thul. Other than that they only had some useless battlechatter. Would be cool if we could talk to the titans before engaging Argus so we can get some insight into their characters etc or if (god forbid) we got some explainations about what is really going on there with the titans. How did they get captured? How did they manifest into their forms again? Why are they so small? How did we manage to get to the seat of the pantheon? What happend to argus after the fight? Did we completly kill him or is he again in a soul state like the others were? When did Sargeras manage to get to Azeroth? WTF was Sargeras doing to Azeroth in that last scene before stabbing it? Why in the hell was he hiding behind clouds? Why did he have no legs? What happend to the part of Azeroth where Sargeras laid his hand on? I could go on and on. Point is we got no solid answers from blizz about these things and they can't just leave big stuff like this up for speculation. Again blizzard slacks in their storytelling. Anyways probably most of this stuff will get retconned when the chronicle book about it comes out.
Why do people keep saying because Sargeras is imprisoned that the burning legion is gone? The demons existed long before Sargeras and while many of them are trapped (without the portals they used to get around) on the worlds they are invading the legion is not gone. The dreadlords were the original generals of the legion and they still exist out there somewhere. No doubt they are already planning how to break Sargeras out.
Demons existed, Sargeras just forced them into his crusade, and if I remember correctly, Sargeras made the Nathrezim into demons, like the eredar, I am pretty sure they were just another race like the Draenei, so I don't think they were the commanders
I like how Varimathris ended up being the only boss with the actual "one person wipes the whole raid if they fuck up" mechanic in heroic and mythic lol
I mean, i think the cinematic doesn't portray that illidan is the Jailor, there's no need for one, it just looked like he just wanted to be there, to be present to the imprisonment for the guy responsible for most of his misery, he looked happy when Sargeras arrived not like he had a task to do
I play affliction lock and the coven of shivara fight seems made for affliction locks, I always top out the damage meter cause the amount of elite ads, demonic portal can jump the whole raid out of both Norgannon and Khazgoroth, Two bosses at all times for double dotting, banish can immobilize norgannon completely until it is able to be killed, soulflame (AoE damage on every mob killed) kills every Norgannon instantly after the buff wears off, soul drain gets rid of chilled blood in a heartbeat, I can get my dots up on Amanthul and have really strong damage when we focus that one, and of course healthstones. Good fight to be a warlock
25:00 it's pretty easy to follow up on this and fill it out with explanation and lore, they essentially created a cliffhanger of what happened to illidan. all we know is he stayed, not what happened after that, quite easy for blizzard to fill that out with dialogue between the titans, illidan and sargeras.
I haven’t had this much in a raid for awhile even when wiping my team was laughing and haven’t fun cause the fights in this just felt so much better as long your group is working together it’s ezz and the end velens like sigh of relief at the end just felt awesome
Very candid and light-hearted review! Good footage as well. I just finished Antorus on Normal yesterday, your impressions match mine tbh. With this raid, Blizzard has now done 3 raids in a row with VERY high quality. I mean, Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor were OK, but Nighthold, Tomb and Antorus have just been amazing!
i watched the cinematic for the first time on my normal kill with my guild. Muted discord so i could fully immerse myself into it all. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! the only problem is, the rest of my fucking guild skipped the cutscene and gave out a 975 relic by the time it was over. I could just imagine a 10 minute cinematic where when it finishes i'm the only person left in the raid while everyone is just gone for the night.
Thanks for this video, man. Been on a break from WoW ever since we got to Argus, so I haven’t been able to try this raid. Glad to see that you loved it
What are you talking about, it doesn't make sense? Illidan didn't NEED to stay, that was the point. He WANTED to stay. He didn't get a chance to fight Sargeras. He's a hunter, that's his life's entire purpose. Every single thing he's done was so he could kill Sargeras. He's obsessed to the point he'd rather stay and fight Sargeras for all eternity than have a normal life. And Velen learns that we can take fate in our own hands and that all those prophecies are bull thanks to Illidan, that's massive development for him...
Varith Ramirez. Also, I don't think that it's necessarily that Illidan HAD to stay, I think that he just wanted to. Now that the hunt is over, he's just gonna chill with his prize, which is to torture Sargeras in holy felfire for the rest of eternity.
10 years he says... the legion thing started back in warcraft2 m8.. and the foundation for it was laid even in warcraft1 so u could argue the story has been going on and developing for something like 23-24yrs
Illidan stayed behind literally just to torment Sargeras. That's what's so fucking dope about it. He doesn't need to be there. He wants to. He's not his jailer, he's the torturer.
Sargeras has been captured by the Pantheon. The Pantheon is alive and would be more than capable to be his jailers. Illidan stayed anyway. Why do if not to get his Twin Dick of Azzinoth wet with the blood of his enemy?
I’m sure 100 people have told you already but the boss where you have limited Vision you were supposed to bring over one of those flames from the fire platform
I think the idea of the Titan cinematic not making sense, makes... sense. They're literal gods. Their motivations, methods and speech is gonna be confusing as fuck to mortal minds. The lack of dialogue between Sargeras and the Titans is kind of expected I think. Hell, for all you know, they were relaying concepts and discourse between each other telepathically, faster than a super computer could process data. Imagine trying to explain what you do and your life goals to a fucking ant. It can't even comprehend your existence, let alone understand what you're saying. In fact, I'm actually kind of disappointed that they even occupy 3D space. When we saw Sargeras in previous cutscenes, it was just as a cloud of fel vapour. I assumed it was so he could accomodate a form that wouldn't absolutely shatter our minds, and I thought the rest of the Titans would have transcended geometric form, or some shit like that.
If you really care about your damage on Kingaroth you're better not going to attack a boss that's immune to damage - that's got pretty little to do with adds taking extra damage there.
"This may be the only place in the universe sacred to the demons, they would sooner pluck their eyes out than gaze upon it." -"Who could ever imagine such a sacrifice?" Thx illidilly
I don't think Illidan was there as a jailer, more like a end boss just for him to kill. He can't really die, and Sargeras... Who knows. Maybe they become friends after 10k years together and we get a "full new crusade demon Illidan now demon lord owner of a dog titan expansion".
i think the only thing bad about antorus is that we had 2 damn fel green raids befor hand... i wish blizzard would put a mini raid like tov between each major raid tier to give some diversity just imagine a 3 boss raid between tos and antorus it would make antorus feel fresh again even though we already had 2 big ass raids with fucking green stuff all around and since its just small raids you dont have to care about anything realy you could put anything in there from murlocs to gnolls maybe some faction war stuff
i feel like antorus is teasing the casuals, that dont normally raid. The reason why i think that is the first bosses have really telegraphed tacs. the thrash shares some of the mechanics before the bosses itself so u get a feeling on how it feels and looks like. then when u go further into the raid it starts becoming more challenging and it keeps people progressing keeping them hooked, and it does it without having miss a tac. which wipes the raid. Conclusion. i like the way blizzard is going
I love this raid. Lots of cool boss fights. Blizz did a good job on this one. Now I need those fucking trinkets from felhounds and Argus. I'm still stuck with 880 and 890 trinkets... FUUUUUUCK!
So coven was my favorite fight, and it's for no other reason than circumstance - As we're fighting them, a healer dies and I rez him. Well, at some point we had another hiccup and one of our tanks died. Being a balance druid with guardian affinity, I stepped up. And I got to tank for like three minutes, which is considerably harder when DBM doesn't recognize you as a tank. Anyway, the rez clicked, we got our tank, and i went back to boomy and we downed them. They hit like...well, bitches i guess. I'd have been toast against any other boss
Illidan didn't stay back to be Sargeras' jailer. He stayed back because he wanted to fuck Sageras up. His mission for 1000s of years was to bring him down and he finally has a shot at him.
Hey Asmongold! I love your videos man. I was just wondering if you were going to do another speed leveling in legion like you did in WoD. I loved following the guide and used it on all my alts.
I just don't think Illidan wanted to exist in a world where he's not fighting the Legion, and couldn't pass up the chance to see Sargeras face-to-face. The way he says "at last" when the big guy lands in front of him makes me think he just wants to fight the dude.
It's the best visually (especially Eonar) but the majority of the encounters are pushovers as of right now (this will hopefully change on Mythic). Honestly, I can't see how much they'd nerf it on LFR. No portals on Hasabel? Automatic Pods on General? No clue.
I think the reason illidan stayed back wasnt to be a jailor. It was to have his shot at sargeras. This entire time, illidan wasnt sacrificing anything, he was just doing everything in his power to get a crack at sargeras. In the cinematic he chooses to stay back not to keep sargeras under control (i'm sure the pantheon could handle him, especially with the help of argus) but because he knows this is probably the only opportunity he would ever get of fighting sargeras. Just like the ending of black temple where he says maeve is nothing without him or the hunt for him, he is nothing without sargeras or the hunt for sargeras. He knows hes not coming back to azeroth, he knows hes never gonna see tyrande of malfurion again, he doesnt give a fuck, hes not sacrificing himself to keep the dark titan away, this motherfucker just wants to take a swing at sargeras.
I hope mythic Eonar isn't annoyingly hard, otherwise it will be really fun because mass aoe is just fun to do. I don't think blizz wants eonar to be blast furnace 2.0 as well so I'm not expecting anything overly complex out of it
I loved going through the portals-- it make me feel like the fight was more 3-dimensional (if that makes sense). I agree that the "shadow" mechanics don't feel very rewarding.
Honestly I think he does it on purpose. All these names he gets wrong are pronounced in-game, how the fuck do you mispronounce them? Valen? Veri-ma-thiras? How the fuck do you get those names wrong?
Some Guy I live in the same group of states that he does, the south, so I understand that it's easy for people to believe that people down here don't know how to pronounce and speak correctly, but we do know how. So... that just leads me to believe he didn't pay attention in school enough to figure out how to pronounce words correctly.
I agree with almost everything you said. It was a fantastic raid and loved ir but I didn't understand the ending at all. One minute we are fighting the legion which makes sense but then we fight argus which doesnt make sense because arent we trying to free argus from the legions grasp? So why are we fighting him? And then I also didnt get the fact that sargeras was a titan so if the other titans had the power all along to banish him why didnt they? Just didnt makes alot of sense to me. Also is Illidan trapping sargeras or did he just get taken with the titans in order to fight him if the other titans allowed it? Lots of unanswered questions but still fantastic raid
Goat Cheese all of the questions you said have an answer, some answers are even in game, goddamn it, not going to bother to respond here, educate yourself
Antorus is really, really enjoyable. But to be fair, NH was also incredible so ToS seems worse than it was, it was an okay Raid but the others are just way too god damn good. That said, we have to see Mythic. I especially enjoy Eonar Tower Defense but it's heavily undertuned on NM/HM. Hope it's balanced on MM. The only black sheep is Varimathras, it sucks beyond bad. I don't mind that you could pretty much one shot Heroic even with splits bc it's undertuned.
I guess the lore is cool but the bosses were so simple. With a few exceptions, they were just "stand there and hit the boss". I guess anythings better than ToS though.
