I cant agree more about the prone+ grapple combo. My favorite character ever was a rogue / barbarian multiclass grappler. I used shield master for a bonus action shove before the errata. It was a great way to play with non-optomizers as they got to deal damage etc. . . So glad to see more content from you. This new build format is great!
Great video Bilbron! You might have just convinced me getting into westmarches and see what it's all about. I love tge new format. It's crisp and to the point and very fitting for more experienced players. If it means you'll be doing more builds then I'm sold. I like your observation Re grappleshove. I've been making the argument that it's actually as powerful as some high level spells because it's kinda like a resource free twin telekinesis, and that's a banger spell. It has the reliability of check-not-save, can be enhanced with feat and enlarge/giants might, is free to use, and can be combined with heavy obscurement to prevent teleporting away. It's actually as strong a control effect as some of the best control spells in the game, and it's available in tier1
I could not agree more. Absolutely love this content. Life gets busy for certain and we definitely appreciate the time you take to create this content and get out your unique perspective. Thank you! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I just joined the server and YES I love the Simple Build concept. One thing to consider is that your audience is already pretty advanced in their optimization, so if you simply highlight how your build can achieve X in such and such a manner it is often enough. I find myself getting annoyed with creators who spend too much time talking over an ability, or even reading the whole ability out sometimes. Sure that works great if you are doing introductory videos or making a guide. But not when your audience is already familiar with the classes, feats and abilities. And congrats on the full-time job. Hope you get to do what you love
As someone whose a relatively new player to dnd I don’t know if I’m the typical demographic for this channel, but I do really appreciate this new format it’s a great combo of simplified technical mechanics as great flavour concepts which I appreciate!
Thanks for the recommendation to NDC. I enjoyed TFC for a time, and bet this recommendation will be just as fun. Great vids, I appreciate some solid optimize builds that don't get too cheesy!
Wow, normally I don't really have much interest in playing melee characters, but the way you describe this build, it actually legit sounds very fun, thanks for sharing! And this new build format seems nice (to me, I really like your insights into how you play the builds, and you still include your insights in the video, so I think the simpler format works, at least for me). I'd be curious to hear your thoughts about this build and melee builds and such later on, when you try them at higher levels as well (especially your perspective on their tactical capabilities at various tiers).
I've been thinking about finding a new WM server lately, so this is well timed. Glad to hear we may be getting builds from you a bit more often with the new format too
I play on NDC and I am really impressed with all of the bots and such they have made to streamline the process but I still don't consider it my favourite. I play on another server which I prefer more mostly because it is much smaller, which gives you more ability to really get to know the people and characters you play with. That other server also has shorter games which is pretty nice. I really hate having to dedicate 6 hours to a game.
nice to see yoou playing a martial. yeah at that level the options of martials and casters are about equal. you start feeling a major difference by late tier 2 when casters get their summons, wall of forces, etc. i like the new format better but i miss the numbers. imo no need to explain basics/ability description unless you are pointing out something thats commonly misunderstood/ignored. if i were to suggest a build format i'd do something like this: 1. general strategy, name of the build, any important concept/lore/theme info 2. tier 1 levels, key choices made, core tactics, dmg numbers by level 5 3. tier 2 levels, key choices made, core tactics, dmg numbers by level 10 4. tier 3 levels, key choices made, core tactics, dmg numbers by level 15 skipping tier 4 as very few play those tiers for a big chunk of the campaign.
Glad to hear you're enjoying NDC so much. As somone who's been there and loving it since beta it's great to hear someone with a bit more influence share my opinion. Hope to play with you sometime!
So cool that you are playing a Psi Warrior! This subclass really deserves more love. And a very nice build, too. I hope we will be seeing battle reports 😊
If you ever do choose to multi-class with psi-knight( perhaps for another character) a battle Smith dip is an amazing choice for a myriad of reasons, I would highly recommend it! Psi-knight is a personal fav so I hope you have fun with it
Playing my first onednd build. It is a cloud giant goliath rogue thief 5 ranger 1 took lucky and charger. Lucky adds adv when needed and charger gives me +1d8 on the attack. Stack that with the +6 from hunters mark and I can deal 2d8+4d6+4 with a bow or 1d8+6d6+4 with short sword. Go the next 4 levels in ranger and you jump to: 3d8+5d6+12 (Adding longbow GWM for Prof to damage) 4d8+6d6+16 if cleave gets triggered 1d8+9d6+12 (taking two weapon fighting) 1d8+11d6+16 if cleave is triggered Not bad for level 10 Alternatively play Rogue Thief straight to 10/11 and expertise in arcana to successfully cast 9th level spells on demand
I would love to see your take on a Peace Cleric dipped Watcher’s Paladin. Trying to create a halfing version that makes a support that the party never wants to not be next too! Haha
Finally! You've taken the leap to playing a martial. Trust me, you will hate it. Just kidding. It's a builder's dream since whatever we do, it just barely even reaches baseline. Also kidding. Hope you enjoy your time in this type of class!
To anyone wondering about the NDC: To keep up to date due to new updates: - There are now at least 27 Level 16-19 PCs - The bot has many more functionalities now - Favoritism is now more open in the form of player cliques - Magic Item Search is now the sole economic option due to the removal of Weavechipping, Create Magic Item, and others. Magic Item search is mostly a gacha mechanic. This is a server who's economy is based in a loot box system.
I don't see any favoritism, myself... the bot and Game Score system keeps things honest as far as I can see. Meanwhile, my secondary has made plenty of gold by creating Tattoos and Potions to sell to higher level players, so has been able to acquire a couple of key magic items prior to Level 5.
So, I have a character idea, but it requires a plane shift book. It’s a Naga cleric build uses the a bunch of passive damage effects to defeat his foes.
The server sounds really cool... I have a single question: How much of what happens on the server, including missions can happen by voice as opposed to text? I loathe text-based RPG experience and love voice-based experiences. This has been the only reason westmearch servers have turned me off. Please reply, thanks so much!
happy holidays Bilbron! i'm just curious in your sifting through westmarch servers, have you encountered one that doesn't restrict to duo class? like is there a westmarch server out there that allows triple class?
@@Bilbrons-and-Dragons that's what i noticed too. i've always wanted to try out some of my triple class builds in online games just to see how it performs (usually martials). i've been kind of restricted to caster builds with duo classes. anyway appreciate the response. have a merry christmas!
What time zone are the games in the NDC usually in? As a European I'd love to join as the server sounds really nice, however joining during the night/while I'm at work would be a problem...
That is a really good point too. I thought maybe that server that allow official magic item, so Flame Tongue is available to greatsword but no polearm have an option as powerfull as Flame Tongue.
