An excellent choice of bike as a first bike. The only thing I noticed was your choice of riding gear. Always remember dress for the slide and not the ride. Happy riding.

Thank you, I really enjoy the bike. And I do have proper riding gear and will get even better stuff when I get a bigger bike.

@@TheBestBob-rs2dl it was actually given to me from someone who had it lying around so unfortunately I have no clue, I think it was just some cheap Chinese thing.

I got a 2018 CB125F GLR. Its fun in decent weather. I find it not great in wet weather. If you slip theres not much give as in "go with the slide" Every time I ride it motorcycle boots (+ofc gloves, helmet, sturdy trousers) well worth the money! Dont blame you for staying clear of Lexmoto. Two Lexmoto I have had required CONSTANT daily checking nuts and bolts are tight. Long distance things can easily drop off... even with lockthread! 😅

@@WhippyWhip2 I've not seen a blue one in the flesh yet but I'm sure it looks just as good as the red. And the reliability is amazing. Personally I think the looks are decent too. Hope you enjoy yours!

I have a Zontes 125cc 15hp all LED slipper clutch just bought it a year ago and use it nearly everyday, its got 1600 miles on it so far. I use it for urban commute in all weather. The Zontes is the same price but better equipped. You should have gotten a Zontes. My car hasnt been used much at all.

How does it hold up in the long run tho? Since it's quite a new chinese brand, I doubt the resell value would hold up as high as a japanese bike like this Honda. I used to have a Benelli BN 125 (italian inspired but chinese built) it was great for about 5000 miles brand new then issues occured like the engine light wouldn't turn off despite numourous garage vists, pass to flash stopped working, wouldn't go into neutral half the time, gearbox issues and other eletrical issues. It was a great first bike but due to its chinese brand nature, I only got about 500-1k for it.

Great review! You are lighter than me, mine will do 62mph at a push but I am heavier. It wasn't really run in well until it had done 10,000 miles after which it delivers more power. The front suspension bottoms out when going down steep hills and braking especially if there are pot holes or undulations in the road. At the age of 50 the insurance is much cheaper sort of 100 to 200 quid.

does the engine seat vibrates, on idle or while revving, honda is notorious for vibrations in the bikes, and short gears, yamaha is butter smooth, and zero engine vibrations in the bike,,

Just about to hit my first 1k miles on my CB125F, I cant help but notice that little ticking noise coming from the engine. Is that a normal thing for this bike or is it indicative of a problem?

Why are insurance premiums so mad for youngies? I paid £22 for my first bike, an H100 in 1986. Thats like £100 in todays money. What's more, that was a rider policy which covered me on ANY bike. I could've had a go on my mate's 1300cc bike (once I passed my test) or owned ten other 100cc bikes, all for £22!
@barnbersonol
@barnbersonol 10 месяцев назад
Edit: you're being unrealistic if you're unhappy with an indicated 60 being your max cruising speed. That equates to prob a genuine 55/56 and that's really good compared to the 125s I started on and those were physically tiny bikes, around 100kg which didn't feel safe for a rider who himself weighs that much!

My wife has one on order, same colour, they are Australian $3,600.00 on road total, ( 1,901.00 British Pound ) brand new, so thats makes these bikes very expensive in the UK ? wonder why the big price difference ...... they get amazing reviews for first bike owners ..... cheers from Australia ...

Free trade agreement between Australia and China where they’re made. Uk probably ads tons of tax and blames EU as usual and then there’s shipping costs

a pretty fair review - i've the same year & model, bought aug 2022 with 350 miles on the clock for £2400 in mint condition. i've put almost 8k miles on it including a 1500 mile tour of scotland a few weeks ago doing over 200 miles per day, and it's never missed a beat, averaging 130mpg+ over the year (ignore the bike display mpg - it's well out, in proper usage you wont get anywhere near 180mpg unless you tootle everywhere at 25mph). as a 6' and 19st guy i adjusted the rear preload to no 4 to make it less squirelly, and made my own cushioned seat cover out of an inflatable camping pillow, an outdoor cushion cover and velcro straps which makes it super comfy for full days in the saddle. as a first bike id recommend it to anyone and chose a honda over some of the other chinese makes, (which while cheaper and on the whole excellent build quality too) just dont have the reputation, proven reliability or residual values if/when you come to sell. i spend most my rides in the lanes taking in the scenery, so to anyone who isn't in a rush, doesnt spend a lot of time on main roads, overall it's as good as you can get for the money. GL

@@thesouthernbiker course you can do it !! - as a taster, why not choose a youth hostel or backpackers maybe 150-200 miles away, set a route thru the lanes for a satnav (i use beeline), take a change of clothing in a small sportsbag and bungee it to the pillion or even better a rear rack and just go for it (you dont need fancy bags or panniers as long as it's secure). for peace of mind i have StartRescue in case the worst happens and a puncture repair kit. Honestly there's nothing to worry about and you will have a great adventure then take it from there. for inspiration just search youtube for 'small motorbike tours'. As a cyclist who's toured since the early 70's using minimum luggage, including a year thru europe and north africa with just a small saddlebag, the best advice i can give is you dont need to take a lot of stuff, and my scotland trip was done with just well chosen items in a qbag tail bag 4, simple to attach and remove on arrival. camping would be a different matter but forget that for now. I'd love to see a vid of your first novice tour, even if it's just a 1 night stopover. BTW scotland including the NC500 was fantastic, i got lucky choosing a week with no rain and for the most part brilliant sunshine. GL

@thesouthernbiker Год назад
@@Bob-ts2tu I must admit i've been really wanting to try motocamping but need to focus my money on other things currently, like my A2. Also, what are backpackers? And I would love to do the Lake District but I think that would be a good 5 - 6 hours. I'll have to take a look at some places within the 150-200 miles range from where I live. A tyre repair kit is defo something I need to invest in! Once I get my A2 and a bigger bike I will 100% start touring long distances. I'll be sure to record a video of when I do take my first tour as I should be getting a Gopro within the next month or so. Im surprised you managed to do Scotland with no rain. Thanks again for commenting and I hope you continue to enjoy all the places you visit!

Hi Tommy - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I'm just back from a 150 mile spin on my machine in West Donegal, same colour as yours. Bought it new in Feb and have done 4000 miles. It is an incredible machine and fulfils it's design brief extremely well. I contend that the realistic cruising speed of any air cooled two valve engine is circa 50mph, which the CB125F will sustain under most conditions. I've had it spinning at nearly 70mph but it won't maintain it - max power is produced at 58mph in top gear. I cruise at 2/3 to 3/4 throttle and over 8000 miles have averaged 145mpg. Highest I got was 235mpg at max 30mph and 196 at max 40mph. I change the oil every 1000 miles and apply 80/90 gear oil on the chain after every run. I submit that it is the finest touring machine for minor roads as it is light, economical on fuel and cheap to maintain and will pull top gear from 25mph making it very flexible. Bigger isn't always better so don't be in a rush to part with it. Acknowledge what it is, ride it and enjoy it. Cheers
