My First S&S Super B Rebuild

Hi all, so this is an older video that I shot last year of me rebuilding the S&S Super B carburetor.
I didn’t put it out at the time because I wasn’t sure of how the carb would operate once on a bike, as the throttle shaft bushings proved to be a bit of a challenge to get just right; however, everything seems to function properly either way.
Only way to really know is to slap it on a motor and see how it runs!!
Hope you all like this amateur Red Rider vid.
✌️ 😘
Thanks for watching!
And, anyone who want's to send me pictures of their bikes, you can email me at:
redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
PLEASE SEND LARGE CLEAR PHOTOS!
1080p x 1080p is the MINIMUM we can work with, so please do your best at making sure your photos are large and not blurry 🙂 And send more than one if you can as well!
Only motorcycle related emails please - sorry, but I just don't have the time to engage in personal conversations.
Thank you for your understanding.
If you DON'T want your bike highlighted in a future video showing viewers bikes then make sure to mention it in your email. Other than that, expect to see your bike in one of my videos!

Well done & informative Angel. A suggestion...put a drop of Loctite on each of the butterfly screws. You don't want them ever coming loose...and certainly not getting into your engine. Hi to you and yours. 👍✌️🇨🇦
@dennman8832
@dennman8832 9 месяцев назад
Definitely Locktite those butterfly screws. It cost me thousands to replace the pitted pistons, heads with pulled inserts and eventually had to redo the bottom end. This all happened after having the engine freshly rebuilt to 88'''.

From my personal experience I'd suggest you put the B on the shelf and get yourself an E shorty. Those B's stick out so far they're always in the way and make it hard to get at the rear brake pedal and make for a generally uncomfortable ride. Again this is my personal opinion only, you might love it. ✌️from Ontario

Right on! S&S carbs are pretty simple, have a Super "B" carb on my turbocharged Honda motorcycle, flows a ton of air. The only drawback is no accelerator pump, kits are available to install one in the carb though. Great video, Angel! Thanks and ride safe, hon.😘😎

Good Evening Angel, Jets, needles and seats??? Unless you are dyno tuning or traveling from way up in the mountains to sea level, needle and seat sets need not be worried about. The luck of fuel injection is never having to deal with this. Like points, there are just some things few of us enjoy dealing with. Thank You for the time and commitment to good technology. Thank You to your Dad in the background and in your training, we know it's still you doing the work. Everyone has a trainer and no one deserves to be put down for referring to theirs. Red you are a spectacular Young Lady with the world at your feet. What impresses me most is your respect to the past and those that came before. I was recently watching another's video where they made a statement of ignorance if we didn't do it their way yada yada yada. NO Respect to all who came and did long before that one was born. You just can't beat good old carbed bikes! Keeping motors simple to run can't be beat. Now a days, it's electronic fuel injection which is pffffttt in my opinion. No character in these new bikes being made today. Course I have ride both, but I prefer the old stuff. Kinda like me, old lol. Loved the video and watching you giving the love to that old S&S! Hiya, I just rebuilt my s/s b and updated the thunder jet to a smaller size it had the original for 3oyrs but had always come on to late so now it should kick in sooner and I also have the adjustable main jet. it took me more time to get it right but runs so much better , now this is on my 1982 ironhead sportster that is stroked to a 74 cube and has the heads duel plugged and runs a crane ignition and for cams they were the largest Andrew made to drag with had to have the cases machined so they would clear on the inside and also running Jim's big lifers and lite weight adjustable push rods I spent over 10k on this bike bake in 83 and quit counting money at 14k but still enjoy riding this bike its a handful when everything right the fuel is the biggest thing have to carry a octane booster or be real lite on the throttle lol tranny got all new internals this summer they are Andrews too. use to run this with a electric shift but took that off after a few years now just set the clutch's up and run it like I stole it lol the beast is due for a complete rebuild on the engine but I only ride it once or twice a year and the cost now is so much more to do. so my bike now is a 1988 FLHS with a 89 stroker kit in it that I have completely restored now has 2800 miles on and is just what I needed to travel on it to has a lot of go faster parts lol you be safe and maybe some day we shall meet up and talk more of rides and adventures

We have similar Sportsters, mine started as a 1978 XLCR, I don't have the ThunderJet, haven't opened the B yet so I don't know about my main jet. What I have found so far with a little disassembly is 4 5/8" stroke (74") with Andrews V9 cams, S&S B carb and intake ported and polished professionally right through to the valves, four spark plugs, Sputhe Racing engine cases. I haven't started it yet, still mired in rat's nest wireing, brakes, disassembling checking cleaning packing and fitting all bearings, all the stuff you do when a bike has sat for 25+ years in a shed. Good to know that I am not the only one with one of these and that it is probably rideable.

When I was a child, my mother was afraid that I would become a substance addict, because I liked to disassemble and assemble old corburetors and smell their smell. I loved the smell of old gasoline with a low octane number, now there is no such gasoline for a long time. I loved the smell of used oil, because there was a smell of exhaust gases in it. Now parents should not worry about this, benzite and oil do not smell delicious 😂. Что ты сделала со своими красивыми волосами?! Они практически прямые 😮

Nice watching you fix the carb. I believe that various glues are preferred for getting high, not carb cleaner. The end result looks good though. I removed my B from my 78 sporty a few weeks ago. The semi liquid inside that once was gas 8+ years ago is nasty. It is on the list, I also would have thought that the "master" kit should have everything. The rat's nest of wiring and brake caliper bleeding screws that are frozen in place are next on the list. If anybody reading this has a solution for frozen bleeder screws, I would be happy to hear it. They have ignored PB Blaster and Kroil so far.
