This is not their first song. They debuted in 2008 with the song "Replay". Taemin was only 14 at the time and could not sing due to his immature vocal cords. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups as trendsetters. Like I often remind people who are new to Kpop, when watching these older MVs you have to put everything in context of when it was released. Yes, you are so right, like most of SHINee's songs, "Lucifer" was actually ahead of its time in 2010 when it first came out. SHINee are known for never being afraid to experiment with their style and sound in a song and for the fact that no two songs of their's will ever be the same even on the same album. SHINee are always setting trends never following them Nothing you hear from SHINee will ever sound the same and yet somehow it will always sound like SHINee. If you want to see where SHINee truly shines you have to watch some of their live concert footage and you should check out their iconic performance of "Lucifer" Live in concert. Did you know that SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group because that was the style of music that was really popular in 2008 when they debuted. That's why Key and Minho are both rappers and how Taemin started out as a popper in dance. But as Key tells it, they just didn't have the swag to pull of hip-hop, so SM switched up their sound and style to something that fit them better and they came up with the signature classic SHINee R&B vocals they are now known for. I, for one, am so glad they debuted with their signature R&B style instead of hip-hop. Can you imagine if the world never knew the amazing vocals and sound that is SHINee today? Things would be so different. May 25, 2019 was SHINee's 11th anniversary. So SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and yet they are younger then most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than most other groups such as EXO and BTS, etc.which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. It just goes to show you why they are legends in the industry. SHINee debuted when Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now after 11 years they are all in their late to mid-20s. SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best vocals in the industry. His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40 seconds) for the longest continues note without changing tone or pitch or ever being off key, etc. His record still stands today. Jonghyun is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who is one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun has wrote and composed over 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc., as well as several movie and drama OSTs. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work , including SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. As the main vocalist Jonghyun is the one you hear with all the amazing high notes and R&B runs and ad libs most of the time. Key is our diva and fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out. but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc,, as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. There is a reason why Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. Taemin is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, both young and old. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Micheal Jackson. As you can see by this video, even 9 years ago Taemin was one of the best dancers in the industry, and you will soon discover with the more that you watch from SHINee and Taemin's solo work that he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know them better you will wonder how it was even possible that you couldn't tell them apart. As a Shawol (a SHINee fan) I tell people that once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. I can tell who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with my eyes closed with them standing in a crowd of people. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of their's. That is why they are the princes of Kpop. SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography. You really should check out some of their live performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. If you know EXO then you know how good of vocalists they are, well the members of SHINee actually were mentors to a lot of the EXO members and they helped coach them in their singing. The EXO members and SHINee members are all around the same age and they were in the same trainee classes together and yet SHINee debuted almost 5 years before EXO, so that just goes to show you a little bit of what makes SHINee so amazing and why they are considered legends.

You are actually very right about Taemin, his VERY first vocal class was given by ONEW the Leader of SHINee (the first one who start the song), then after also jonghyun helpped with it. And Minho the rapper of SHINee have said before that Taemin is a moster, he basically took the best of each of his members and created the TAEMIN you see today, they basically raised him.

Since you mention that they look like came from the same era as BIG BANG : BIG BANG debuted in 2005, the same year as Super Junior (another legendary group! SHINee is no longer a kpop group, they are brands. They are not follow trends but create trends instead, yes SHINee is trendsetter. Whatever outfit they used, it became trends(especially back in their earlier debut), dance practice video became trends also because SHINee and they contributed for kpop boygroup having hard dance now a days because way back then they are the first kpop boygroup having hard choreo example Ring Ding Dong(2009), Lucifer(2010)

I stanned 5HINee the moment I heard their debut song Replay for the first time in 2008 which is one of the best decisions I ever made lol You won't be disappointed with 5HInee. In my opinion, they are the most versatile group which you will see as you continue to discover them. Their charisma, vocals, talent, and artistry are like no other. the first guy you asked about is onew (pronounced on-you bascially) and he's the leader of shinee ! he's a great singer with a very distinct voice. the dude with the mohawk (i think it's just one shaved side) is key, he's a vocalist and does some rapping and he released a Great album before enlisting that you should check out ! The rapper is minho, he's my favourite lol, iirc he's participated in a lot of his rap writing for shinee as well ! SHINee was fuckin amazing. One of my fave groups of all time. Jonghyun (wearing a sleeveless black shirt) was the main singer (amazing dancer too) and Onew (white jacket and starts the song) is the lead singer and leader. The group is so good, all are talented and I honestly miss Jonghyun. He had amazing stage presence and it came so natural to him.

Thank yiu so much for talking about them and how great their music is! ☝️ There are so many amazing pieces from SHINee to be honest that I don't really know which one to recommend to you but you can probably start with "Replay" which was their debut single. Let us know what you think about that too. The one who sang at the start, their leader Onew (real name Lee Jinki) has just released his own mini album last year before he enlisted in the Korean military for the mandatory service. You should listen to his songs too. They are all so good! He mostly sings ballad coz he simply loves it. You probably should look up his past solo renditions of songs from other artists like Eric Benėt and Jason Mraz. He sings really well in English too. And his version of "Rainy Blue", a well-known Japanese song which Taemin played the piano while Onew sang. And "Nessun Dorma", an Italian opera song. You'll be blown away even more for sure! 😉 Jonghyun (bless him) also has several great releases of his own which he mostly wrote. Yes, he's that good, so please do some Jjong reactions too! His last one is called "Poet | Artist", you should probably do that. Key, the rapper with the smooth mohawk haircut also released a couple of mini albums just before he joined the Korean army also. I like "I Wanna Be" from his solo. Minho, the other rapper with the cool cut also released a single called "I'm home" before he joined the Marines. That you should see and make a reaction of too. It's totally different from what you've just seen of him with SHINee.

Shinee are wonderful, 12 years and many many albums each one different from the other one, vocals, choreo and live shows they do everything like masters... they are amazing, listen to Stranger, Excuse me miss, Hitchhiking, Orgel, An Encore... Taemin is the younger member, he was model by them, they trained him and he has a little of each one of them... I saw them on a show with my favorite band FT Island they did an RnB song and from back there love at first sight or hearing?? I have all their albums... Shinee one amazing group...

Every time I watch or listen to an old SHINee song it’s like a jump back in time when oppa bling Jongie (Jonghyun) was alive it makes me tear up because I miss his smile and powerful voice but when I listen & watch to the present SHINee I know and see Jonghyun presence still alive within his brother, the group and kpop community which makes me happy but still tear up at times. Jonghyun along with the groups web segments that theyve done always make me crack up to tears 😂. When this title track came out there was allot of theories about it because of the word being used but it’s not that at all. *Reading between lines* In my opinion & observation of the lyrics it’s about a relationship that the guy can’t seem to get away from because he’s not ready for commitment but the girl is so evilly addictive (like lucifer) because in reality kpop artists can’t be in relationships with anyone without fans getting extremely jealous and Kmedias doing everything they can to get a story whether it’s true or not. Later, the album was repackaged as “HELLO” in October 2010.

Onew jumped out at me from the start too and is still my SHINee bias 10 years later. Taemin tho is a whole other deal. Welcome to SHINee world, new Shawol :) This song rocked the kpop world and was a lot of people's introduction to SHINee and to kpop in general. One could also say that their dance practice video of this song is sorta what started the whole trend of practice videos. It wasn't the first I don't think, but it was amongst the most popular. Do check that out too, it's required watching for kpop fans :)

Their debut solo albums even have similar name (more in korean than in english): ACE → 에이스 (Taemin) BASE → 베이스 (jonghyun) FACE → 페이스 (key) VOICE → 보이스 (Onew) Minho does not have a solo album, but he had a fan meeting named "CHOI'S" (CHOICE), that similar as the others. When they asked them why, they said that was sense of belonging, so that people know that even if they are releasing solo albums that are different from one an other, they are still ONE SHINee.

And they acted indeed like brothers in Jonghyun funeral they were appointed by Jong mom as "head mourners" when only the father, bilogical brother ot the male figure of the family use that title during a funeral. my first time seeing Shinee mv was ringdingdong back in the day. Jonghyun was my bias, i followed them for years. I cried my eyes out when he passed away.... I even have albums that I no longer can look at cause of the pain I feel. First guy singing is Jonghyun, Rappers are Minho and Key can rap some.
