i really recommend the book “the me i want to be” by john ortberg! It’s a super great book that really helped put my emotions into words and has really helped motivate me to live to the best version of myself from a Christian perspective

Syd I know that motivational speech was just for yourself but your latest videos have me so hype and motivated, I started going to the gym, I'm trying to eat healthier, think healthier, spend more time outside (even if it's by myself which is a challenge 😂) and I just wanna thank you and say that I'm so proud of you for all you do 💕💕🥰

I really hope you see this comment. I’ve been a nutritionist for 7 years and want you to know that having to pee that often is a bad sign, it means you are drinking far more water than your body needs which is quite harmful. Urinating this much means your kidneys are having trouble getting rid of excess water which sets off a chain reaction where you encounter a severe electrolyte imbalance due to retention issues from low sodium levels from blood cell dilution, flushing the electrolytes out of your body, potassium and magnesium deficiencies then arise which encompass a host of spinal, nerve, heart issues as well as severe hyponatremia. I know you think that ‘pushing yourself’ is a good thing, but in this case it is anything but. Too much water can lead to seizures, disruption of brain function, swelling of hands and feet, muscle spasms or cramping, sciatica and spinal problems and literally dozens of other issues, not to mention coma and even death (rare, but happens). These fad diets disguised as pseudo mental accomplishments are terrible. You mention you are drinking a gallon a day. IOM recommends women drink 9 cups (a little over 2 liters) of fluid per day. You are drinking nearly twice that (and if you are in an air conditioned car remaining sedentary there is no sweating or burning it off, which is why your bladder is working so hard, as are your kidneys). In addition to all that water I am guessing you also have other fluids such as coffee/Starbucks, or energy drinks or soda? The 75 Hard fad/nightmare was created by a man who weighs over 200 lbs, and while a gallon may work for someone that large and muscular who is sweating a ton in the gym and working out nonstop, your bladder is sending you an alarm bell that this approach is not working. When training, Michael Phelps would eat 9,000-13,000 calories a day and he had almost zero body fat, but for most people that is overkill many times over. The same is true with young/small women doing this ‘challenge’. Don’t let influencers tell you that pain or dizziness or peeing every 20 minutes is a good thing and that ‘working through pain’ is a good thing and will prove you are mentally tough. This legitimately makes me want to cry. Anyway, I won’t mention this again, but I really hope you look into what I’m saying. In my field we see so many young women who are in terrible mental/physical shape because some influencer pretended to be a health expert and got a bunch of women hooked on something that was causing serious damage to their bodies and minds. These diets are not remotely sustainable, which is what people should focus on: learning sustainable, long term methods to live happily and healthy. Not crash diets or gimmicks. Please know I’m not judging you, but I do care about you and your health and seeing how active your bladder is in this video just breaks my heart. There is nothing healthy about this approach. Again, not judging or trying to scold you, but another 2 months of this will 100% have awful results for you, I absolutely guarantee that. :(

Yessss thank you so much for writing that! I'm studying to graduate in nutrition and I really wanted to inform her/ppl reading the comments about the risks of drinking too much (as many people think it's super healthy) but I don't speak English that well so I didn't know how to put it into words so yeah ahah thank you xx

omg thank you, on my way to do a bunch of research. So what would you suggest for a good amount of water if i continue doing a 45 walk a day and then go to the gym?
@maureenkaye8262
@maureenkaye8262 2 года назад
@@sydfrances Well that is the tricky thing. Some days you may need x amount of water, other days you may need y, other days z. It depends on climate, physical exertion, your diet (some foods have plenty of liquid in them already, whereas other foods (and things like caffeine) are diuretics which have the opposite effect and dehydrate you). A day spent in a car on a road trip won’t require nearly as much water as a day in the hot TX sun helping a friend load heavy furniture onto a moving van. Granted these are two extremes, but you get what I’m saying. Often I see people who say ‘I was told I am to have X amount of water” and so they try to stick to that, when in reality the best way to know what you need is to listen to your body. We try to instill this concept in everyone we see: pay attention to your body, it has a voice of its own. But you have to know how to listen. Do your feet or ankles cramp up when walking? Or even just when you stand up and walk to the fridge? And as gross as this may seem, urine color is a great indicator! If you are peeing clear every 20-45 minutes, this is bad. Granted, if you are at a bar chugging beers with friends then its ok to have this for an evening once or twice a month, no problem. But 75 days of constant overhydration can have serious implications. Even IOM’s suggestion of 9 cups of water for a woman, that is just a generalization. A 300lb woman will need far more fluid than a 105lb woman, so a lot of this comes down to listening to your body. On the other hand, if your urine is dark yellow even bordering on orange, this is a problem in the other direction - too little fluid. This is one reason fruits and veggies are so good for you. Even *I* forget to drink as much as I should, but as I tend to prefer fruits, salads, broccoli, bussels sprouts, etc I get a huge amount of hydration from eating as opposed to drinking. Oranges, avocados, strawberries, carrot sticks, a nice spinach and feta salad w/ low carb dressing. Not only are veggies and fruits great sources of hydration, they are also great sources of electrolytes (Americans are sorely deficient in magnesium and potassium as well as a host of other vitamins and minerals essential to bodily function). This is one reason I strongly encourage people to take trace minerals each day. Another thing about having a fixed goal of water consumption each day: if you go a day drinking nothing but coffee (diuretic) and eating something really salty like cornnuts (I’m just thinking of a very dry, super salty food) then you will need to drink -vastly- more fluid than if you go all day munching on blueberries and watermelon, so your diet plays a big role in how much water your body actually wants. Plus, when you get hydration from fiber rich sources like veggies and fruits, your body stays full longer and your body works harder to break it down. Thus you get proper hydration without the need to urinate so often. Eating healthy plants literally fixes so many problems! (I’m not a vegan, but most of my diet is plant sourced). Water on an empty stomach is just in and out, in and out. It does nothing good, only bad (flushes sodium out of cells, not to mention constant bathroom breaks and stress on kidneys). Also, when you are working out (or even on a brisk walk) and sweating, lick your upper lip. Is your sweat like water, ie no saltiness to the taste at all? If so this is a big red flag. It means you have depleted the sodium in your system and your electrolyte balance is very much out of wack. You can buy electrolyte supplement drink powders at most nutrition stores and use that. Part of the reason you are peeing so much is you are depleted of sodium, so you can't retain fluid, it just comes right out of you. Let me know if you have any questions about anything else! Happy to help! Love you so much Syd!

@@fssb13 It bums me out that Facebook and IG are so aggressive about putting a stop to deceptive political ads and misinformation about COVID but will let some of these harmful "challenges" exist without stepping in :( Most people who undertake these challenges have good intentions and have the expectation that they are safe and vetted when in a number of cases it is the exact opposite
