I want a curly cut, but I can't find anyone in teh Cleveland area that specializes in them. I am willing to drive up to 2 hours to get my hair cut as well.
Oh no! I’m sure you’ve already checked out this stylist, but in case you haven’t! www.iamnaturallychic.com/ I hope you find someone. I know some people fly, but flights have gotten so expensive.
GORG! I hated my WNGs. I’m a twist out Queen. Then I got a CIK stylist and she cut and shaped my hair😍😍😍😍 and I’m living my best WNG life lol. I absolutely love this cut. I did a similar one so my hair could grow evenly. I also follow the 30 day hair detox lifestyle now. Game changer.
Thank you so much! 🤎 Yesss! I love to hear it! I get my maintenance cut this weekend and I’m excited! 💇🏾♀️ It really is a game changer and I don’t know what took me so long because I rarely ever wear my hair straight.
@@TerynAParker knowledge is power. I was educated enough about my natural hair. But there is such a large natural community now and businesses realize there’s a market for it so we are getting more information than ever. It’s about weeding out the noise. I focus on listening to professionals in the field now. That was also a game changer.
That’s so true. It’s always better to leave it to the experts. I stopped relaxing my hair after high school and could not keep up with all the noise so I’m glad my “laziness” was a safe bet. 😂
It takes awhile to master the technique. The hooded dryer did make a big difference in my set. I workout also so this suits my lifestyle. I’ve never been a hair person, less is always better for me.
It does! I also try to tweak things to see how my hair will react since I wash it more often. Nothing crazy, just seeing how the curls fall and separate. I really enjoy having a foolproof go-to!
I’m so grateful for the directory you posted in your description. I’ve been desperately looking for a stylist to trust my hair with and with living in MN that’s damn near impossible to find. Well they have 2 stylists in the state that are certified and I’ve just made an appointment. I’m excited, thank you!
I love the consistency of the Cut it Kinky stylists! I go to a CiK stylist in Virginia and I had the same experience you had! Very immersive & super informative! (And my wash n go's have never looked better!)
Yesss! I love to hear that! I hear so many great things from all over, they do such a good job with training! I’m happy to hear about your wash n go’s too!
First, thank you for the compliment! Second, your hair is so much more curly that I thought! This cut works for you seriously! My 4c hair would never 😂😂😂😂😂
You're welcome! 🤎 Thank you so much! You never know! I was on the right track applying my gel to soaking wet hair, but the methods she taught me have been so helpful!
Your curls are beautiful and I love your cut👌🏽. I got a curly cut in September, it was not good experience,I had to go back the following week to have it corrected. Needless to say I went back to my normal hairstylist that has cut my hair over the past 10 years of being Natural. She knows I only wear it curly . she cuts both straight or curly . I prefer straight cuts and my shape is always on point. She also makes sure all my split ends are gone. I cut my hair April 2021 by my regular stylist then tried the curly cut in September 2021,my hair just felt rough after the experience and by November 2021 I felt so many split ends. January 2022 my regular stylist had to cut 3 inches off to even out hair .I just couldn’t stand feeling split ends.
Thank you so much! 🤎 Oh no, I hate that was your experience! 😞 I’m really glad to hear you were able to get it corrected by the stylist that gave you the cut and then by your regular stylist. I used to get my hair cut straight too, but I think I would’ve preferred if my hair didn’t have layers.
Your cut is beautiful. I got my first curly cut in December and love it 😀 😍. I was nervous initially about going shorter but that didn't last long. I joined SSC back in August.
@@TerynAParker I was in it from August to beginning of December. I learnt a lot which has helped me with how I style my hair and knowing about products and application. I am working with a CIK stylist now in my state to get rid of my heat damaged hair. 💔
Hi Deanna! There’s a directory I mentioned in the video and description box just for this! 💇🏾♀️ It’s a directory of people specialized in cutting hair in this method. I see a few stylists already in Philadelphia, so I hope you’re able to find someone. 🤎 www.blackcurlmagic.com/stylist-directory/
@@TerynAParker Your welcome! I know what you mean. My hair tends to shoot long from the back so I keep it trimmed to allow for the even growth all around. Keep doing what you love! All the best!😃
She actually did. We went through the entire process of how to wash, shampoo, condition, treat, and detangle my hair. I’m sorry if that’s your experience, but it’s not mine. My curl specialist isn’t driven by money, just education. 🤎
@@TerynAParker I have looked. I see one you using the doux, another with uncle funkys, I create hold, another quickly talking about cut, and this one. Beautiful hair! ❤️ Just wish I didn’t have to search this hard to find what shampoo and conditioner.
Thank you for this video. Your hair is soooo beautiful! The shine just accentuates the curls so much. You are the first I’ve seen that follows the CIK that has the closest texture to mine. In fact, if I’m correct, my hair will look very similar to yours when it grows except that I have less density. My hair looks very shiny like yours, which I believe is because of the smooth/reflective surface texture, but shrinks almost to my scalp even though I spend a lot of time raking an smoothing (any tips would be greatly appreciated:) I’m still researching for a CIK stylist in NYC area to get a cut/shape. Sorry for this lengthy comment, but I was so excited when I saw your texture.
It's no problem at all! I'm so glad you found it helpful and thank you so much for the compliments. 🤎 Your hair probably will look like mine when it grows, my hair is tighter in the crown, and most of the people I know with a tighter texture, but no curl cut hair tends to take on this type of effect. 😂 I think what may help shrinkage is sitting under the hooded dryer. I enjoy my shrinkage and it hasn't been a huge bother for me. I would say applying products to soaking wet hair helps too and making sure your hair is fully hydrated, moisturized, and detangled. After you find a stylist, they'll help you with that for sure since they'll give you a customized routine and products to use. I've heard good things about WesleyStylesNYC and Weena_Stylist if that helps! I'd love to know who you go with since I'm thinking about moving there next year!
@@TerynAParker Hi Teryn-thank you so much for taking some time to respond. I really appreciate it. Maybe I need to add more water-I’ll try that! I’ve actually narrowed it to the two salons you mentioned, but have not yet seen anyone with “our” hair in any of the IG photos and just want to have realistic expectations. I’ll definitely let you know who I decide to go to though (after Covid calms more). How ironic that you’re thinking of moving here. By the way, how long do you stay under the dryer? Most appreciative of you taking the time to respond. All the best to you!
@@fifiesdaughter6768 It’s no problem at all, I’m happy to help. I think extra water helps during the entire process. A couple of curl specialists I follow talk about “marrying the hair with the conditioner.” I sit under the dryer for about an hour to an hour and a half. Yes, I’ve been trying to map the move out 😂 and I’m happy to help! Thank you so much!
@@fifiesdaughter6768 Thank you so much! My understanding is when you apply your conditioner, you keep wetting your hair and really melt the conditioner into your hair. Here is a link: twitter.com/jessicakiyomi_/status/1278128020729942016?s=21
