Hey y’all! Come with me as l have my very first natural hair salon visit! I haven’t been to a hair salon in almost 10 years, so this visit was even more exciting.
Elaine is a license cosmetologist and specializes in type 4 hair. As a tight curl hair master, she travels around the world, showing naturals how to take care of and rock their natural tresses. She is currently servicing clients in Jacksonville, Florida and surrounding areas.

As a Rwandan living in Canada I'm really happy to hear that she is travelling to the motherland to teach people about natural hair 🥺😭 After decades of using chemical straighteners I'm happy we're going back to loving our natural selves 🥰 I'd be glad to see her in action. All her knowledge and what she said on pH is spot on 👌🏾

I'm glad she mentioned the importance of clarifying shampoos because a few yrs ago I received in beauty box Living Proof detox shampoo and Christophe Robin purifying scrub w/ sea salt and those 2 have been game changers for me. Back when I was experimenting with oils and butters and creams those 2 allowed me to reset my hair to accept moisture. Now that I have my routine products I use them about every 3 months or as needed.

Yes! I agree…I wasn’t properly educated on the importance of clarifying and why I should. She has helped me so much with understanding my hair.

I learned something new today. Ya hear that curly/kinky/coily girls? Your first product should slow down the water leaving the hair. So the judge of a good leave in is if it is slowing down water leaving the hair.

This is such an informative video. I have a question though. I am a Sisterlocks Consultant specializing in Natural Hair Care and Braid pursuing a Cosmetology license, and my instructor warned us about certain hair products being pulled off the shelf like Oliplex products which have been recalled for causing cancers and hair loss like Deva Curl, similar to how hair relaxers are linked to fibroid cysts and ovarian cancers in women of color in the African Diaspora. Our instructor warned us how these companies will strategically discontinue their product line marketed for wavy, straight, and curly hair within Asian, European, and hair types in between. However, they'll "Repackage" their brand to target an Ethnic group with an African hair type of tightly coiled, curly, and kinky hair textures. Just be careful and do your research, because not all companies that are marketing products to the black African hair community have our best interests at heart or anyone, for that matter. Alot of them just want money and people's souls.

Sent here by Fo Adunni. Hair looked great. One question, why did you purchase UFD and not the Kinky Kurly that Elaine used on your hair during the visit?
@LannieBass
@LannieBass Год назад
Thank you. ☺️ We discussed products that I had at home. I already had a great leave-in that worked just as well as the Kinky Kurly. I purchased the UFD because I’ve never tried it before.

The term 4C is not appropriate and not a hair characterization. I’m sure Elaine would have mentioned that the grading system was a marketing ploy by Oprah’s hair stylist. Instead, hair type of texture is identified by the curl pattern-coily, z angled curls, etc., not a number.
