* Susan was Judged in everyway & that was wrong! Simon judged her on her looks, age, etc. I could see beauty in her personality & I loved how straight up she is!! Simon is plain Nasty & I don't care if he's made millions of dollars, he is Rude! So was most of the audience! * Until WE Learn to treat our fellow 'brother' the same way we would like to be treated, we will never learn! *JUDGE NOT LEST BE JUDGED YOURSELF!*
@@znk0r She's actually on the Autism spectrum. Aspergers, I believe. She was diagnosed only a few years ago. There's a whole generation of people who went undiagnosed because of the lack of education surrounding Autism.
@@mitchand9 It's about the entire Package! If you lack in one area as an Entertainer you probably won't get too far. Susan just needed a little 'Tweaking' but over-all, Susan has the X-factor!
@@aryansigrid - The show also isn't X-Factor. "Whole package" means you have the look, the talent (whatever that talent is) and the stage presence. It doesn't mean you can sing + other stuff... I really wish singing wasn't allowed on Got Talent, considering the vast amount of singing competitions that are out there and hardly anything (if anything) except Got Talent for... well, everything else.
I had the pleasure of being in the audience that night. What you hear on TV doesn't compare to how magnificent her voice sounded live in the auditorium. The hairs on my arms stood on end within seconds of her starting to sing.
Well for a moment. Then they made more noise than ever...for the opposite reason. Piers says "no one's laughing now", but in fact he's laughing during the song, out of sheer pleasure at the wonderful surprise...
@@maryhupf4915 Yes, Mary, I have watched this audition before, and today was moved to tears as if it was the first time of seeing it. Very moving. Her singing reaches deeper into my emotions, so beautiful.
They were laughing at her, ridiculing her...until she unleashed that remarkable voice upon the world ❤❤❤ Your reaction was beautiful. You're such a sensitive soul, JB. ❤
@Tony W It's a good thing to point out small errors like this. I had words I used wrongly until someone pointed them out to me. But your instinct was to defend a person against what you perceived as pettiness, which is a good instinct to have. So Merry Christmas to you.
It has that feel good factor like “The Greatest Showman” ...Beautiful and so emotive! Susan Boyle was a huge reality check for so many! Bless Amanda Holden though... she was rooting for her from the beginning!
Most people do not know that Susan Boyle is high-end autistic her Fame came so quickly and you know how all the hangers-on are she had a slight meltdown but it back on track with her career and did you see Simon's face he knew he could make some money off of her that's why she did not win the show you're locked into at least a year if you win a dance troupe won and yes they were very good but you can bet your bottom dollar Simon has something to do with her career and making money off her after I heard her do that song I Googled Elaine Paige doing the Same Song & Trust Me Susan Boyle is so much better
JB I would love to see you react to dimash kudaibergenov Opera number 2 not an opera like Pavarotti you can't even believe that a human could make this music I'm 65 years old and I have never seen anything like this kid I can't get enough of watching that video over and over I even love watching the reaction videos of people hearing him for the first time
The good news? Years ago I watched Simon Cowel say that, watching the tape afterward, he hated the smug, judgmental looks on all their faces, including his, and it taught him a huge lesson for the future.
She did change the competition. Before her it was all about "looks", "total package" and such nonsense. Then Susan came along and became famous. She opened it up for others with talent rather than looks. Furthermore, she was bullied at school because of learning difficulties and just look at what she did! Thank you for the review. I have watched this video many times but always enjoy watching it play out again.
His response was sweet at the end and he genuinely loved Susan and helped her with the instant fame . I do believe that single moment was a life changing moment for Simon . A massive lesson in humility .
My father, may he rest in peace, loved her. She was the last CD he bought before he got sick and passed away. I will always love Susan because of that.
@@loup4343 Thank you so much. He killed himself while sitting in his truck in his parents driveway on his 50th birthday Aug 8 1992. Drs said he suffered from GUILT.
I know what's coming, and I still start sobbing when she begins to sing. Especially after seeing the reactions by the judges, and the crowd, barely hiding their contempt and laughter (because of her looks, which is why she has been denied the chance before now)....and then the lyrics to the song she sings, under these circumstances, are so powerful.
I've thought about how almost painfully appropriate this song was for Susan at that time. It's sad and wonderful (mostly wonderful) at the same time to think that now it isn't that apt!
Having heard her sing many songs in the years since this performance, I am convinced Susan will lift any song up to a higher level than it has reached before. The feeling she puts into the lyrics, plus her pure and magical voice, is quite incredible.
I love your reaction to Susan Boyle and not just to her phenomenal singing. You were offended by the audience and judges who were so obviously looking at the lady with disdain and mockery. I am very impressed by that because we are all guilty sometimes of making judgments based on appearances - I think it comes from our basic animal instinct to protect ourselves. But geez, how hurtlful those judges were! I've watched the Boyle performance many, many times since it was first broadcast and it always makes me cry.
My dear sir, I am a middle age woman greek woman, living in greece, and I apologize for not knowing about you all these years. Susan Boyle has a wonderful voice, but what I got out of this 9 minute video, was that you are a beautiful man. Warm hearted, open minded, unbiased, strong intelligent men who does not run to judge anyone from their appearance or age. You are a complete man, polite (even when you commented on the cynisism of the judges) prior to listening to Susan Boyle singing. Tears were coming down my cheaks, not for her, but for the fine man you seem to be. In my opinion you are a very kind, whole man. A real man. Thank you and your youtube channel for giving me the opportunity to meet your sensitive objective empathic decent true warm heart. I respect and appreciate your admirable personality. I just subscribed to your channel and I thank you for being a true genuine gem of a gentleman. Best wishes for your future, and I wish you a very long life, because people like you are scarce. Thank you very much!!!
This gets me every time !!!! It truly is a lesson; never judge a book by it's cover. She came in second that year I think. She was worth 22 million in 2018. Just a beautiful audition ....such an amazing voice !!!!!
Simon fixes the competition so the best bankable acts win second place. That way they are free from obligations to BGT and can immediately start their careers using the publicity from being on the show.
I love how she sometimes looked at the judges with such confidence. Lovely woman, pleasant, personality galore, and a gorgeous voice. You can find things she did later in her career. And yes - she is so many of us who know we can do something, but others laugh. She is an inspiration.
"Never Judge a Book by its cover" I watch this and still get a tear in my eye, good on her, she went on to be runner up, but has a record contract with Simon.
@@IrishAnnie Jonathan Antoine has come so incredibly far. He has just released his 4th Album. There are so many wonderful videos of him now on RU-vid. Waited so long to hear him sing Nessun Dorma, worth the wait.
Young man, I do not know you but it is an honor to listen to your comments. Your honesty and humility make me wish to be a better man. God Bless you...Pastor John
Susan Boyle has a rare inner beauty. When she sings you can hear her voice reaching down from the depth of her beautiful soul and this is why it touches all who hear it. Love her.
This is STILL one of my all-time fav clips from music reality tv shows! I love her and love her voice. It reminds me of when Paul Potts auditioned for this show and the judges were snotty to him too. A couple of years later, I got to see him at my home concert hall in Canada. I would love to see her too! xoxoxoxo
@@thekingsdaughter4233 He was, and apparently they didn't. I don't watch these shows because of how mean the judges can be; I saw both Potts' and Boyle's performances the next day on social media :)
Love your emotions to this miracle. You see? You can doubt yourself all you want but you are definitely a wonderfully intelligent man. No more doubts. Like Susan you will achieved what you want, it's a matter of time. Bless you.
@@vaughnmichael5114 They were indeed. Don't know if you have followed them but they split and Jonathan is amazing, he has come so far. You should check out some of his clips. Unchained melody is fantastic as is Nessun Dorma

He has so much more confidence and a genuinely lovely young man. Very humble. Jonathan Antoine . Such an amazing beautiful voice.
It's rare that you get to see a moment that absolutely changes someone's life. Her performance that day changed her life, and I'm happy for her. She worked up the courage to go on the show, and her gamble paid off big time.
The audience was literally laughing in her face before she started ... and they were on their feet applauding before she got even halfway through song. If that doesn't bring tears to your eyes you must have a heart of stone.
The first time i saw this performance, i cried. It was that beautiful. To just judge people by whats on the outside, you may be missing out on a very special person. Great reaction. And it was so good to see you...❤❤❤
Elaine Paige was "on holiday" when this happened, and found her email was inundated by friends, and suddenly had a ton of interviews. Later they did in fact sing a duet together.
Her dream was "much different from the hell she was living". Sometimes dreams are postponed by life or never achieved at all. It took her a long time but she dreamed her dream. A lesson for all of us. I loved your reaction. You were not cynical but hoping she would make it. Your smile was wonderful and heartfelt. PS - Your laugh at Simon was adorable. You knew he is a bullsh*tter!
I'm so glad you chose this specific clip to react to because this wasn't just a video of Susan Boyle singing, this was of a night when history was made! When the world discovered Susan Boyle
The one good thing of someone Judging you, is when they realise they were wrong! Putting up with idiots is hard work. And Loving the smile on this gentleman's face when he heard Susan's voice. Great reaction and I'm not crying,Okay yes I am.x Cheer's Fella 🇬🇧 Edit: spelling.
I can see in you, how her performance touched you. Everything was against her...her look, her personality, her age, and the audience/judges. And yet, all that helped her in the end. We could see her jump all those hurdles in just a few seconds. And she also picked the right song. Her story is the story of a lot of people.
This always makes me think of all the talent that never gets the chance to be viewed by a wider audience and passes away unnoticed. I remember once when working in a building in Ireland, an American girl in a bedsit told us she could sing but couldn't make it in America, it was too big. So, she came to Ireland to make a name for herself, but she said after a while she realised that in Ireland there was so much talent she felt even more deflated. She sung for us at the top of a stair landing.......her voice was so amazing I had goosebumps and shivers down my spine....yet she didn't think herself worthy.
I watched this when it aired, I remember thinking that you could tell that she has challenges of some kind. How people judged her because of looks (makes my blood boil), but when she sang OMG I was blown away. It came out in papers within days that she suffers from Asperger's syndrome . I watched video clip probably 100 times or more and still love her voice. A similar one that aired was the one with Charlotte and Jonathan . You should watch that too, I know Pavarotti blew you away, well they likened Jonathan to him. He was such a frightened, bruised , nervous and shy Young man. Bullied throughout his life by people who "judged" him by looks alone.
I can't watch this without crying. This woman reaches your soul with that talent. I've watched this over and over. It's been my favorite video since the first time I heard her. She is very very successful now.
Susan Boyle is the embodiment of never judge a book by its cover. I still believe out of all of the shows like that she had the best audition of all times.
At the end of the original video, Susan was crying backstage from happiness. Her mother had passed right before she auditioned and had been encouraging her to go.
I've watched this yet AGAIN and I'm in absolute tears.. I saw this in real time and I was so angry at how people were laughing at her..but..she ABSOLUTELY kicked their arse's..such a lovely sweet, vulnerable lady that lived her life very very lonely..bless her heart.☮️💓🇬🇧 BTW..WHY WERE YOU DOUBTED?🤬🤬 OK so...I really have to tell you that when my brother left school,on his last day, a teacher called him over and told him.."You'll never amount to nothing".. That destroyed my brother for a little while but what that teacher did was start a fire in my brothers belly..He grew into an amazing man respected all over the world..served his country for 30 years and retired as a highly respected officer.. I wish I could go on to list the insane things my brother has achieved but it'd just bore the pants off of you...if my brother could rise from the ashes so can you darling...so you just keep on keeping on darling...have that fire in your belly and you can achieve ANYTHING! Stay in your power brother. Sending ☮️ and 💓 from the 🇬🇧 UK
Another one that was judged quickly on Britain’s Got Talent was the act “Jonathan and Charlotte.” Jonathan has a stunning voice. But people judged what he looked like
Great to see you, James! I never get sick of watching this, I always tear up, just perfection. I think this opens a whole new world of Broadway tunes for you!
I NEVER get tired of watching this!! I cry every single time!! She’s retired now but I am so very happy for her. She represents all of us who wishes we could do that!!
Nice reaction James, I loved your comment before she started to sing about people being judgmental, it is alas so true. I remember watching this and it had moved me to tears, I was so happy for her. There is another singer from this same show that moved me, his name is Jonathan Antoine. Search Charlotte and Jonathan from BGT, you will love it. All my love James.
Watch Jonathan's 2 New Music Videos, "Amazing Grace (Grazia)" and "These Are The Special Times (Momenti Splendidi)" both songs from his new CD "Christmasland" They are both stunning to watch as well as listen to. Here on You Tube. Enjoy.
That performance was inspirational to many thousands if not millions of people. It made me cry! You should get some of her albums. Thanks for letting us relive that moment.
So was the Charlotte and Jonathan first audition on BGT 2012. When Simon saw Jonathan on stage he said "Just when you think things couldn't get any worse."
What a great reaction video. You’re a top bloke. I could really see how much of an impact watching Susan Boyle had on you. Thanks for the video it was a pleasure to watch and like it 👍
Yep, dollar signs in his eyes. Hilarious...and strangely makes the whole thing even more, not less, charming. Piers Morgan is my favourite of the three to watch, though: first apprehension, then amazement, then he's laughing unreservedly, not at Susan but with her; and finally a serene smile that indicates absolute bliss...and I like his "I'm reeling from shock, I don't know about you two" afterward. This audition video will never, never get old.
@@karlwilliams8397 umm it was more then that if you dig into that time in her life after she got 2nd place you know that it was not easy or simple as dollar signs. Yes Susan Boyle made him a lot of money but unlike some producers he helped her stay whole while doing it.
James , Your reaction being angry was spot on , before Susan sang & the eyes rolling is so typical of people judging the cover of the proverbial book , By the way Simon is very close to her now & has supported Susan , an amazing & beautiful story . What a voice/ what a gift .❤️❤️👍🙏 you are awesome James .
I'm a grown ass man in his fifties and damn I still tear up listening to this. What an amazing voice and an ultimate FU to all those who mocked her at the beginning. NEVER judge books without their cover!❤️
