That's really reassuring to here for me as a fellow short girl. I'm 5'1" and I feel that I'm not getting anywhere. You've all reminded me that I need to recognise every pound as a victory.
I love that you're willing to be truthful and honest with your followers! So many ppl out there are not willing to share this sort of stuff with the public. #respect 💫💫
Girl my story is so similar!! I am 4'10 and I used to thrive off of being 84lbs at my lowest, I was so proud of it. I never realized how unhealthy it really was. Eventually I went through a bad breakup and stopped playing sports.. next thing I knew I was 130lbs, again I didn't hate myself for it, I just didn't feel how I wanted. I am now 125lbs and working towards a goal of just losing more fat and building muscle but ultimately FEELING BETTER. I have a lot of muscle , I'm just working towards feeling better and being more toned.
Just watching this. I feel like this answered so many of my questions. Ive been a bystander for so long with my fitness and diet. After watching this I feel so normal! I feel like a complete failure if I skip a day and rest, and the fact that I can't afford a coach is deflating some days. but again, after watching this my point of view has completely changed. Thank you, so so much! Thank you!
This is one of my all-time favorite videos by you! I love hearing your story and it's really helpful for my as I work on my own journey. I love that you aren't a die-hard macros person because IIFYM is really not sustainable for me. It's nice to see that there are other ways to lean out and be fit. Anyway, thank you! Love you Heidi!!
I need to just get myself together. I am my heaviest ever right now. I just have an unhealthy relationship with food right now and need to get back on top of things. Thanks for the video.
Love all your videos! I also am 4” 11 with a ton of stomach/ gluten issues. I’ve been following you for months and tried 1up protein, doing amazingly well in my journey so far! Thank you for being you ❤️
Oh thank you for this video... I am at a stand still and am struggling with my weight. Much like you, I am not 'overweight' but I am just not happy and have gained a lot of weight in this past year. I just kind of let myself go and I am getting a Y pass in January.. this is just what I needed to get going. I like what you said about wanting long term happiness even though the food gives you only 5 minutes or so. I am just very unhappy and I love food so its a struggle.. I don't know why I eat like I do.. I just love food honestly, but I love being happy more! this is the first video of yours I have ever watched and I have heard of you on twitter and thought I would check it out... I can't wait to continue to watch your videos! you are so pretty and REAL and that's hard to find nowadays. I plan on learning a lot from just watching you! Thank you...
Love watching all your videos, helping me with my food prep & gym. But I have one question I'm 12 stone and working at getting to 10 stone but scared I'll have excess skin how can I prevent this from happening. Would be brilliant if you could help me x

One time I cried over eating two pieces of pizza. I should have known then and there that something was wrong, but it took me over six months to realize that that wasn't a healthy way to live. Thanks for showing me that health is about balance; it's made my life a thousand times better!
Honestly, this made me tear up. I went through this same feeling. I remember crying over the fact I had two slices of cake on my birthday. Life is about balance! I am so happy you found yours! Love! -TR
I love absolute/ true/ natural athletes! So many bikini girls are using enhancers ... Don't get me wrong. They are still putting in the work but in a less healthy way. Kudos girl!
I love that she's so honest about being natural! It gives me hope haha I used to think everyone that made it big was using other things to help them but it's good to see people with amazing bodies that just nourish themselves
So true! I'm 5ft and I got really ill earlier this year to the point I could barely eat and couldn't leave my room. I lost five pounds in a few days and when my guy friend came to drop off some food and water for me he wanted to shove more food in me immediately. I looked drastically different and I hadn't lost much nor was I anywhere near an unhealthy weight.
i love that you are not super strict with your diet and just do what feels good for u and look at your body girl.. its amazing. I just hate that so many people say tou have to track macros if you want to lose weight and be fit and thats not for me, intuitive eating sounds better and more realistic
yes! I love the idea that if you get in enough protein and have an idea of what a balanced diet looks like then you can kind of eat more fat one day or more carbs another day if you feel like that. shes reasonable and its good for stress to be reasonable.. people forget thats a part of wellness!
Hayli Schultz I love how your name is spelled! I know that's random haha but I just noticed.. I've never seen it spelled that way before. my name is spelled kinda different too and nobody can ever spell it right lol
I know a girl from my hometown that's spelled your way and she's the only one I've seen spelled that way besides Haylie Duff lol But thank you!! Everyone always spells my name like yours (people I know) or the 10 million other ways to spell it hahah I love yours, too! It's so unique :)
My goodness, this is so painful for me because I can soo relate being a small person myself and getting teased about my frail shape in high school. Especially because where I come from (South Africa) and being an African woman, your "worth" ,for lack of a better word, is seen in your waistline and voluptuous, curvy figure. I laughed it off too but inside I hated it and it started wearing down on my self esteem. I'm slowly getting over it though accepting myself living a healthy lifestyle, basically being the best person I can be regardless of my God-given frame thanks to motivations like you
It seems so hard to think that I could be like you one day! It's inspiring but at times it sounds so unattainable I weigh 140 pounds - to lose 40 pounds - 😳 thanks for sharing your story!
+sophie thelk depends on how tall you are and all that. I'm only 4'10'' if I weighed 140 pounds I would be preeeeetty overweight. It's totally variable.
No one should be judged or made fun of because of their weight or for any reason at all actually! But it is important to know that if you are starting a fitness journey your main goal should be to improve your health, not to just look good. Finding intrinsic motivation is CRUCIAL in order to stay consistent and see results! Very inspirational Heidi, thanks :)
you, Heidi. You have inspired me SO much! before three months ago, I was at a point in which I was on the verge of giving up on my idea of health and fitness, and my skewed view of healthy eating. in reality, I was starving myself, was cardio workout heavy, and feared eating grains and proteins. then I came across your videos, and something changed inside me. I have learned so much, and have learned to eat intuitively, and have since realized there is NOTHING WRONG with eating, as long as it is healthy!! Hell, you have inspired the thought in me that since my self confidence has skyrocketed, maybe I could give crossfit, and maybe even an NPC show, a try sometime soon down the line. You have inspired me to go back to school again, this time as a dietician/nutritionist. You've made me realize my own personal passion for good health and well being. While I am currently a very broke college student, I very much am looking forward to the day in which I can have you as my online coach when I have the right amount of money. Thank you for being so real, Heidi. You've inspired something huge inside of me.
Hi, Katherine. Thank you for your story and for giving me even more inspiration to keep going after watching Heidi's video! I'm aspiring to be a dietician as well. I also don't know how I'm going to get there yet but we'll figure it out! Good luck with your journey!
Dude your really an inspiration! im recovering from and eating disorder and so people like you really help me stay on track to keep moving forward in weight training and eating healthy. its so hard to see results and i hate not seeing them but seeing other people reaching there goals always helps remind me that maybe someday i will too! i love watching your videos and i try to watch them everyday to keep myself going! thank you for the help and inspiring! i hope someday i can be as amazing as you are so i can go help others reach there goals!
zarah howl love this. I've been struggling with eating disorders for 12years. Its so hard for me to not loik at food and see my enemy or think eating is a weakness to overcome. but people like heidi have inspired me to want to get better and stay better. I'm trying to view food as fuel for my workout and while it helps its still a real struggle. especially those days when you aren't sure you want to recover. but stay strong, know you're not alone! ❤💜
zarah howl it takes time i mean its been 12 years and i still relapse and have bad days. but your relapse does not define you or your recovery. stay strong remember your current goals and why you started making changes to heal yourself 💕💕💕
Totally agree. Im 5"2 and losing even 10 lbs is HUGE. Its crazy inspiring that you were able to do your first show on your own! hoping to achieve that one day!
It is so great to see something relatable. I was a small 130 pound cheerleader then life happened to me and I started struggling with a lit of stress of ptsd from bring assaulted so I started eating or not eating. I starved myself, not trying to lose weight nut stress just killed my appetite. Then one day I ate something and it made me feel better and I kept eating. now I am 190 pounds and I feel like crap all the time which does match my personality and I feel so out of place in my own body and I don't know what to do about it or where to start. Some days I hate looking at myself and remembering what I used to be like and trying to find out where I went wrong.
Breana Adams i am so so sorry about what happened to you. i cant imagine how painful that must be. i understand using starving and eating to cope and then not feeling like you belong in youe body. its a terrible feeling. but please stay positive. I'm trying to learn how to love myself at any weight and learn how to view fiid as fuel for my workout instead of the enemy or a fix for emotional problems. but it's a real struggle daily.
Breana Adams you do not look like 190 lbs in your pic! Either way, I can totally relate. Im 36 now, but all my life i had been 5'6" and between 135-145 lbs, which seemed perfect...I wasnt fit by any means, but I was thin and yet still had some curves. At 24 i had my first baby and i bounced right back to my 140 lbs 4 days later. Then 6 yrs later i had baby #2 and got up to 185 pounds and never lost a single pound of it. Here i am 6 MORE years later and im actually exactly 190 lbs. I hate seeing myself in pictures and i hate seeing old pics where i was thin. Even though i hate the way i look and feel, I feel so unmotivated to change it bc i know how hard its going to be. I dont even know how to be healthy, where to start, how to make time for working out, where to get money for a gym and where to get money for healthy food (its expensive to eat healthy lol).
Yeah that was from 4 years ago when I was 16 and thank you for all of your support. Now I am doing my best to get fit and get back a positive image of myself.
You look fantastic! I gain in the stomach too....ug. Back on the horse now. I have to drop 20 lbs. Super depressing after bing someone who always was thin, fit and lost easily....now, not so much. :(
OR, search up calisthenics read what it is, look how to start, do a beginner program, and it only needs a pull up bar. Research calisthenics the bar game will change you.
There are many things in which you can do go running or buy a couple dumbbells or resistance bands and do workouts at home or there is a company named Beachbody on demand that is workouts at home and relly not that expensive
I know the struggle, I usually just run around close blocks by myself (usually at night or the evening because Canada's hot rn) and use benches/ playground for jump squats and pull ups. Exercise is freeee
Thank you for doing what you do! I dee so many "fit girls" who have worked so hard for their bodies, but have never had much fat/weight to burn off. Seeing you and your story really helps keep me motivated ❤
Hey Heidi! Just wanted to say that this was a weird moment for me to find your video today. I just paid a ton of money for a personal trainer and she put me on the caveman diet, I was skeptical at first and letting go of the carbs is really hard for me. But hearing you say it really worked for you is giving me a lot of motivation! So thank you, love your videos! xx
Hi Juliesta! I actually added in grains and carbs to the caveman diet. I mentioned that in this video. The straight caveman/paleo diet can work for some people but I needed my carbs haha!
You should also look into a High Carb Whole Foods Vegan lifestyle. Check out Dr. McDougall, Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. Esselstyn, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Pam Popper and Dr. Neal Barnard.
Ya, the Caveman paleo diets are horribly filled with saturated fats which cause atherosclerosis, stroke, and a host of immune system diseases like MS. low fat vegan diet is deff the way to go, you literally eliminate your risk of disease, and youll get way thinner quicker.
Going off what Heidi said, the paleo diet is mainly about eliminating simple carbs(bread, cereal, flour, starch, etc.) and not complex carbs(fruits and vegetables). Read "Why we Get Fat" by Taubes to learn more about the science behind it and form your own conclusions. I discovered it from taking a Health Psych class and my professor (who's a neurologist) had it listed as required reading. I really respect her opinion because she's always a skeptic and takes into consideration the pros and cons in a study.
Yes to the stalker... He was/is a cop. I also live in TX. Extreme South Texas (South Padre Island ). I'm doing Keto... I eat intuitively as well. Had a botched spinal surgery. which I contracted meningeoincephilitus... which attacked my brain. It lead to many strokes, flatlining, coma for a couple weeks. 5% chance of survival. Then family was told I'd be a vegetable. I'm almost back to my old self... I'm taking your advice and going to do weight training. I'm doing cardio currently and walking 2-3 miles (with frontal AFO's)daily.
I have found that eating whole natural foods and no dairy the best for me and i Seldom eat any meat at all. I love doing HIIT as well as lots of strength training. :)It really is amazing the difference one's diet can make. So important to eat whole and real food. And I will say again, I really like that you are a very kind and down to earth person and not a stuck up toffee nosed git :)
Couldn't agree more with the weight showing faster on us short girls. I'm also 4'11.5" and when I was 90lbs I looked anorexic. Finally found my "happy number" between 105-110 😁
+sadiesadiewoo girl it took me YEARS. literally about 5 years to gain the weight. I started lifting heavyyyy when I hit 98lbs and that really helped jump to 107ish :)
+sadiesadiewoo girl I eat like 8-10 meals 😂🙈 it really does just take time, especially if you're anything like how my body is. It seriously took forever to gain
I started my weight loss journey a little over a year ago and I lost 50 pounds in about 5 months! It was amazing! I did the all natural and healthy way and now Im addicted to the healthy lifestyle. You also keep giving me motivation!
Heidi, I have had similar story with being overweight and struggling with self-esteem issues. I am finally fit because I follow all your workouts. I still struggle with low self-esteem, but you are such inspiration I hope to be as confident as you some day. Thank you Heidi for being such an inspiration for helping so many of ladies to reshape ourselves into a better us.
K8ydid thank you for your kind words. It is difficult for me because of my weight in high school and not being one of the popular, pretty girls. I believe though it has helped me be more compassionate, and understanding for women who struggle with weight, self-esteem issues. I think that is why people love Heidi, because like most of us we are not happy with the way our bodies look. that we want to improve ourselves. That is why Heidi has a big following. She is real, genuine and caring.
Janet Johnson i agree. I've struggled with eating disorders for 12 years. I've been on the thicker side and then been underweight. and was never comfortable with myself. i had surgery last year and couldn't really move for a while and gained weight and it was really hard on me. now that I've been working out for a while i feel so much better, but i still have a ways to go mentally. I'm not sure I'll ever really be comfortable in my skin. but heidi has definitely inspired me to try and love myself and fix my relationship with food
K8ydid I hope that you will improve as you continue to work out. I started a low carb diet as well. I eat 40 net carbs per day. I feel better and have lost cravings for fatty cravings, as well as sweet cravings. Good luck with your weight loss and self-esteem? Thanks for sharing your story with me. It is great to hear from others who struggle as I do.
How did you learn to eat intuitively. I know people always say you just eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full but when you come from a background of overeating and feel more hungry/eat more than your body needs, what do you do?
It's not easy at first. It takes some time to adjust. I started eating smaller portions and would eat snacks throughout the day! If I went out to eat I would ask for a to go box right away and put half of my meal inside of it so I wouldn't overeat. I'll try to do a video on tips about that!
This was the first video I ever watched of yours. This is the video that got me addicted to you & your channel. The video that got me inspired to do better & lift heavier. Thank you so much!!
This was a really moving story for me. I am also 4ft11 and I used to weigh 147.71 pounds. Then in January 2015 I decided to change my life and now I am 108 pounds. I discovered a love of running and am currently training for my first marathon on 9th April. You are such a inspirational figure and I cannot believe I didn't discover your channel earlier.
I am right there with you Alexie! So tired of being on day 1 yet again. I wanna get to the goals I set and stop letting my food cravings and lack of self control dictate my weight. So people will say well if she can do it I can do it too!
Wow it's crazy you look like a whole different person when you were bigger. Crazy how different we can look with weight changes!! Great job though! I'm working on my transformation too!!😌
I'm in a similar place you were, I'm not really "fat", but I definitely feel like crap because of the weight I have gained and restricted movement/lack of flexibility, and being very lazy and anxious inside not working out. Hoping to change that this month, I've already changed some of my diet, always a good step.
Over sleeping but still feeling tired may mean some disorder like hypothyrodism - if this is very frequent maybe you should see your doctor and ask for thyroid bloodtest.
This video just spoke wonders to me! I am 4'11 also and about 2 years ago I started gaining weight massively. I use to weigh at my lowest 114 and now I'm 172. :/ I am making changes to lose the weight and what you just said really hit home. Thank you for making this video.
Jayy Blossom I have the exact same stats as you and am now so furious finding I don't have any clothes to fit my "larger" body! HATE IT! I am hoping these videos will help me get back to my normal size. Being short makes any weight seem so much more. I hide from people and hide in big clothes. I am so ready to start living again!
Erin Moran honestly just start and don’t cheat yourself it’s hard but I kept pushing a diet and going the gym back so many times in the end I just did it starting at 5’7 175 pounds but most of it was fat I was unhealthy now I’m 145 pounds the fittest I’ve ever been in my life and really toned I have 6% body fat and I started with 16% I managed to do this in only 3 months I pushed myself every single time
Jayy Blossom I’m 4’11 and 3/4 but I always just round up to 5’0. My highest weight was 165. I feel like everyone thinks 165 isn’t that heavy but on my small frame, I felt sooo huge. I know you can lose the weight! Good luck!
I love how down to earth and humble you are. And you're just so real. Like I'm overweight FOR SURE and have started my weight loss journey AGAIN recently. But I related to your story about feeling really gross. I'm currently doing my own healthy eating. I'm doing about 70% paleo and 30% vegetarian. I'm so glad I found your channel. And I'm such a fan girl now and subbing!😍😘💋can't wait to binge watch more of your videos and see what else ya put out!🙌🏽
YASS!! I love intuitive eating! I tried IIFYM for a couple of months...it's cool in the sense that you can squeeze basically whatever you want into your diet, but then you wind up eating loads of processed and packaged (this had been my personal experience, of course).
I totally agree with you about IIFYM! I ended up eating what's quick to fill up or finish my macros. Sometimes it works out, other times if you aren't careful you eat like crap. It's all about finding a balance I have yet to master.
Cristina Rae Yeah I feel ya! Loads of processed food, protein bars, and saving up tons of carbs and fats to be able to indulge lol. But you're right, it's about balance.
OMG this fell right from heaven. I've just started to follow you a couple months ago. And I absolutely admire you and appreciate everything you do. You're such a humble and wonderful person. I've been struggling with my wait loss and wanted yo ask you exactly this. So thank you soo much for this video hope to meet you one day. 😊😊
You are the best person ever, I know you from Christan Guzman but I had never actually watched one of your videos and after watching this I think you inspired me more than Christian lol thank you 🙏
I feel the same way being 5'3"! Every pound makes a difference and just 5lbs will be noticeable whether I gain it or lose it. This is super inspiring Heidi, new subbie!! 💗
I'm in San antonio, woohoo 210 baby! lol. I'm starting my weight loss Journey my self been on and off .i start then give up thinking I'm not worth it . I give up alot. I'm trying to stick to it this time it's hard when you don't have the funds to do so. I live off ssi due to back problems, depression, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, PTSD and you guessed it low-self esteem. I have always been sad and giving up on my self and sadly a few times life( I thank God I made it) I found some thing I love and love to do and it keeps me from trying to take my life. I live to take care of animals. I work in rescue/ foster and I LOVE IT! it makes me so happy to help my fur baby's and my fur foster babys. And I see I'm going down a slope and it's hard to do anything any more it sucks losing breath to just get up and feed the fur babys and I want to stay alive as long as I can to keep helping them and other animals. So i am trying my best to stay on track with this weight loss journey. watching your videos and a few other ppl on RU-vid keeps me motivated. :D thank you for your videos! hope to be fit like you one day! love ya.
When listening to my body for intuitive eating, I tend to psych myself out and I don't know if I am or am not hungry. Did you slowly get use to intuitive eating? Do you have any tips for it?
there are different ways the body feels full. One way is the gut flora (when you feel like your gut is kind of full, but sometimes that just means you need to poop), another way is the stretch receptors in the stomach which water actually doesn't help with, but low sodium soups are a good idea. The third way is mental satiation, are you still thinking about food? Craving anything? You need to find a good balance of feeling full in all these ways to remain satisfied. The only thing that worked for me was a high carb whole foods vegan diet as taught by Dr. John McDougall and many others. Good luck!
I love that you are REAL. Like, you look amazing, but not freakishly ripped or such. You're beautiful. You're so relatable and I think it makes your viewers feel like they can achieve their goals too. I'm so happy I found your videos. Cheers.
Great video. Diet is super hard and there's so many opinions and fad diets out there. It's so nice and simple to just listen to your body and eat real food :)
wow!! first time to watch one of your vlogs and It was absolutely amazing. You are very inspiring and after listening to you, I know its possible, I know it can get done, theres just no giving up. Your so beautiful and way to go on your fitness Journey! You look great!!
Good job! I am a super super skinny underweight girl. My arms and legs are rail thin. I have some muscle but no fat. My doctor made a meal plan for me to gain weight two years ago and I have gained 15 pounds but all of it (I swear every ounce) has gone to my stomach and now I can't get rid of it. I look pregnant. My stomach sticks out more than my boobs. I'm afraid to go on a diet or to add more cardio to my work out because I don't want to lose any weight anywhere else on my body since I'm still so skinny, and you can't target where you lose weight. I am certainly struggling.
This is probably the best weight loss story I've heard. You're so real and you've been through it, and you look fantastic!! I love how you kept connecting yourself to "us". Very inspirational and motivational!
Omg you are my spirit animal Counting calories is just not my thing. I counted it for a week and then i lost it cuz maths and me will never work :3 Love you xoxo
I love your positive outlook on a healthy lifestyle. I have been in the same position with being under weight and feeling unhealthy but your videos are great 😍😊
I've always been "normal" for my weight but gained like 15 pounds over the past three months due to stress and not working out like ever. Your videos really help me with feeling like it's achievable for me to get fit and healthy, not just lose weight. Thanks, you're an inspiration! :)
