🎯 Hi! I'm back on youtube - I experienced video issues with my youtube account, but GOD is still GOOD!!! This video is a tutorial on how to incorporate runs and scales to add to your musical performance. Aren't you tired of watching musicians show off and never show you how it's REALLY done? Aren't you tired of learning new tricks and not knowing how to create your own tricks and develop your own unique style?
On December 9, 2007 I will be joining the Wheatworks (www.showmethat.com) family. I will demonstrate everything that you see on youtube PLUS the real secrets to how I come up with these techniques!!! It is my desire that you become a musical fisherman, and not someone who just learns and duplicates different piano tricks from me... GOD wants YOU to sound like YOU!!! In my new DVD, available from Wheatworks (showmethat.com), I will give you the tools to assist you in CREATING things that have not been heard before!!!

I'm Speechless!!! I wouldn't, in a million years, have ever imagined the day that someone would appreciate the musical gift that God has given me - to this extent. I don't even know this person, and he has taken so much time to transcribe something that I didn't take too much thought into creating... "mulletchuck" has definitely earned my "#1 youtube fan" award!!! Thanks for the support!!!

And look how far The Most High has brought you for not only being talented but Gifted by The Spirit of The Most High. Sharing is truly important to the importance of learning and when we share it comes back in multiple ways. I've been inspired and learned techniques not only to just play piano with The help of our Heavenly Father through vessels as you and some others too. Inspiration for inspiration and growth with a different approach each time. Thank The Most High for The Gift in you brother. Shalom 👑

It's 4:47 in the morning; I started around 2-ish watching this video. Next thing I know I'd set up the keyboard near me so I could get this, and guess what? I think I got it!! Thanks so much for making this video. It has and is helping me a lot. I'm glad I know my music theory because after studying this I realized that it's just basic chords that have been inverted here & there. I loved the way you broke down each section and each phase of the "groove". Keep up the good work. SAGE

I have purchased many of the popular instructional DVDs, and basically they're just showing of their skills. Very few of them break it down like you do, brother. You really teach things that I can use, and you make it a lot easier to understand. I wonder if you would consider making a DVD expanding upon this particular concept. Many of us beginners and intermediates would love to understand better which scales to play over certain chords. I would gladly purchase it from you. Peace and love.

well, that's the whole point. being able to learn the steps that you took in order to be able to effortlessly play this way. it's kind of like Reverse-Engineering, if you will. If I had a video camera, i'd record some talk of an analysis of what you're doing, but it's really all in the Mark Levine Jazz Piano book. and that transcription only took about 3 hours. but i do that kind of stuff for a living.

Oops, Music Theory Mistake on my part. There are 2 not 3 choices of scales to run over that 1st chord you played (Fminor 9) Choice one E flat major scale, Choice 2 and the choice K C made is the A flat major Scale. How / Why Did you choose A Flat over E Flat. Thanks K C or anyone. I totally get how/why the B Scale works over the 2nd Chord (F# 13/Dominant) But not certain how you knew to use the A flat scale over the first chord instead of and E flat Scale.
@Zordo11
@Zordo11 14 лет назад
first and foremost thanks for sharing some of what you know with everyone. I see what youre doin with the soloin but what are the sweet spots within those scales? I got my scales down cold and I would like to know if there are any excersizes that can help me build my technique on how to hit those licks like youre doin.
@gmpllc
@gmpllc 16 лет назад
OK, I know your not trying to hear this crap, but I can't help it. Why is C#sharp not D flat? Because there is no C flat. OK why is B flat? not A# Sharp? Because there is no B# sharp.... Same theory for E flat and F# sharp. I don't have answer for A flat or G# Sharp. And I love the way you teach you are a Beast! Bless Ya A++

First of All THANKS and GOD BLESS YOU. Question: That first chord is an Fminor 9. An F minor 9 is a 2 chord in E flat, or a 3 chord in D flat, or a 6 chord in A Flat. How / Why did you choose the A Flat Scale vs. the E Eflat scale or the D flat scale? And could you in fact have choosen either of the two. Thanks again so much and do you have DVD's for sale?

@TheFloul

Can somebody tell me how he choose scale for each chord?
@adamtune
@adamtune 7 лет назад
Yeah! I'll copy paste my response from another comment earlier: Fm9 = Ab∆7/F F#13 (sus) = E∆7/F# Gm9 = Bb∆7/G Ab13 (sus) = Gb∆7/Ab And then it logically makes sense why he's playing Ab major over the first chord, B major over the second chord (same thing as E lydian), Bb major over the third chord, and Db major over the last chord (Gb lydian). You could also do lydian versions of the Ab and Bb scales, which is what he's suggesting when he says to throw the flat 5 in sometimes. All the same stuff! But I think explaining it thoroughly helps provide the "here's why it works" for those who are curious. When I mention Lydian, that's called a "mode" (if you play only white keys and start on D instead of C, that's a "mode" of the scale, and it's called Dorian. There are 5 modes not counting Major and natural Minor scales.)
@adamtune
@adamtune 7 лет назад
Those chord voicings I mentioned are exactly what he told us to play in the video, he just didn't explain the chord names necessarily so explicitly. Which is fine, since it's just meant to get people off the ground and running.
