Joel, DO NOT sell the 760Li! The Jag may be a nice car to have, but I'd buy one in preference to the CLK or the Boxster and keep the V12... there are so few 760s in the country, you'll never find another one for sale at that kind of money, certainly not in that spec. I will never get rid of mine, even if it has been a pain in the arse and currently doesn't run!

That sounds epic, I'd get a straight fabricated exhaust though, purely for the worry of fumes entering the cabin.

Funnily enough I did a very similar thing to my Jaguar XF 4.2 V8 ... although my process is fully reversible . These Jag V8s sound great ... especially with straight pipes !!!

That key is the valet key so won't open the boot or operate the glovebox lid. Also, it looks from this video like the thermostat tower is leaking. Best to replace that asap, since they can basically explode. Coolant all over the place and these engines don't tolerate being cooked. For a relatively cheap and easy replacement, it's not worth ignoring.

The green key is the Valet key, it will not open the glove box or boot lid, there should be two black keys as well , lovely car.

Hi i had a jaguar v8 3.2 the exhaust on mine was blowing a bit but I actually loved the verble of it.. I took it for mot and never got it it back sadly.. I would however love another Jaguar in the near future and being born and bred in Coventry 1964 to date. Lots of toys on it the green key is valet key..

I had one very similar in my late 20s it was a XJSport 4.0 manual box which ive never seen before, it was a great drifter.

Just replacing the back boxes with straight through boxes gives a nice rumble and retains the looks. Just run it in sports mode all the time and use premium petrol and the old girl with not disappoint.

I used to have a straight piped Jaguar xj8. Was not me that did the mod, I bought it that way. It was utterly hilarious, but sadly written off in a no fault on my part accident. This video brings back memories haha 😂

Absolutely LOVE IT!!! I've owned a Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8 and I did the exact same I cut the exhaust off completely just after the cat and my god WOW... What a noise... I my owning a V8.. I'm very tempted to buy one of these XJ8's... I Know the are all rotten underneath.. But the sheer driving experience and instant grin from the V8 is worth it 😁

I got the jag Xtype and the head lining is gone in that too. Some people say the xtype is just a mondeo tarted up but i disagree the roof lining thing deffo makes the xtype an authentic jag 👌

Brilliant cars, my wife and son hate them as they look so old fashioned haha, I remember buying one of these in my 20s for a few hundred pounds and feeling like a king driving around in it.

Put the old exhaust back on it and drill some 10mm holes in the airbox before the air filter. About 10 to 15 of them. Car will be a quiet cruiser. But when u put the foot down. Makes a lovely sound.

Being an owner of one 2000 VP/SC bought for $275 this was GREAT👍💯👊

I have a 2007 Range Rover Sport with the 4.2l SCV8 and it has been straight piped. 122 decibels. Incredible sound. Do yourself a favour and get one! Yell out if you would like a video of the noise.

The jaguar keys of this era were microchipped so it depends how your key was programed, typically Green was programed for Valet and Black was for Car Owner. So, the green key is the Valet Key it will not open the trunk or glove box. You need the regular key (black key to do all those items). 8:10

Idea for fixing roof lining . Buy can of spray glue cut small hole somewhere unobtrusive. Spray in . Smooth to edges

At 11:20 it looks like the fiesta is making that noise

I had an xk8. The green key is the Valet key darling! Yes was the start of the Ford era. Brilliant but they do rust. And, the AJV8 engine is notorious for restrictive exhausts! Possibly 20bhp with a straight through.

I think the Jag's key was a Ford one because I had that type of key for my Scorpio 4 x 4 back in the early 90's and so did my mate for his Sierra. Ford did own Jag at the time I think.

If you like that, you should try the one that came after that, the X350. I had a diesel one after many years with Mercedes. The Jag was absolutely sublime.

The jag looks in lovely nick, hopefully it came with full service history. But does it have plastic timing chain tensioners? Look forward to the water pump going then the head gasket? Lovely to drive but money pit when they go wrong.

The later 4.2 came with a 6 speed ZF gearbox. The earlier ones came with a 5 speed Mercedes box. Some say the later 4.2 engine and box is more reliable. Maybe. Forget about nikasil. That was 20 years ago. But do look out for leaks!

I bought a 1998 XJ8 with the 4.0l engine with 43k miles on it. It's an absolutely lovely car. I cannot imagine straight-piping it, but then again I am very old.

I have a 4.0 supercharged XJR. I've decided to do something like this with it!!

I've had the x308 Jaguar (Vanden Plas / Daimler 4.0) and it's a fantastic car with far more character than anything from Germany, but driving my V12 760li is on another level. Joel, yours transmission is busted - the Jaguar XJ transmission was like butter and throttle response instant, but the 760li is much more sporty when sport mode is engaged, there's no comparison - if yours doesn't give you that sensation then it's malfunctioning.

The green key is the “Valet” key. It’s green to differentiate it from the 2 maybe 3 Black owner keys. Valet key won’t lock or unlock the glovebox!

You guys don't seem to know much about Jags. To be honest, neither did I, until I bought one. Jags of that era were most definitely not crap cars. The XJs and XKs of that time are quite good and reliable. Ford bought Jaguar in 1989. They poured a well-needed transfusion of cash into Jaguar allowing them to upgrade and improve without interfering with the style and engineering. Anyone who dismisses (not you, I realize, but many do) the late 90s Jags as 'just Fords' clearly know nothing. The result of the cash support was the XJ and the stunningly beautiful XK8. The valet system works with a separate key (coloured green) that only allows the start up of the car. It disables boot access. Shortly after this car, Jag went to a 4.2 V8 (supercharged in the XKR giving it 400hp). I have a 2003 XKR drop top and I love it. I enjoyed watching how similar the details of the interior are between the 2 cars (wood wheel, panelling, dash etc. Seats and head rests. instruments, controls etc - all the same)

3:10 the green colored key fob is the valet key. The key fob that came standard with the car was black.

Urgently needs a proper straight through exhaust with the stock tips and an X pipe. Shame it's the 3.2 rather than the 4.0, the smaller engine lacks torque and is just as thirsty. It can be bored and stroked to just over 5 litres (92mm bore, 95.6mm stroke), and that's definitely the way I'd want to go with this heavy and underpowered car. That and supercharging it!

Try looking underneath at full revs ? Is there a chance that it is burning thee underneath ??????? I tried this out years ago on a V8 when i was replacing the exhaust, i fired it up and looked underneath and there was actually a pulsating 2 foot flame coming out ;)

I had an XJ 350 V6 3l which which was (I think) rated at 245BHP, also much lighter and more tech. I now have an XJ 351 Portfolio, which has a supercharged V6, rated at 325BHP. I miss the wood finished steering wheel, but I don’t think the interior roof lining is not likely to sag, it’s suede. There are some rather wild extras on this model. First of all, it doesn’t look anything lika it’s predecessors, and has heated & cooled seats which also do a choice of massage options as well - there are apparently even more things that I didn’t expect. You really need to read the manual before driving you can watch DVDs streamed just about anything on your IPhone 13 pro - except it doesn’t leet watch telly or anything like that when driving along -- though all the passengers can. There’s some clever-clot way it only lets the front passenger do that, while doesn’t get to see anything but the Satellite map.
