Hi!!! Ok couple of questions here!😅 do you get paid for that monthly meeting day, and for the stand by time? Does every month you work about the same amount of hours of flights?and if you are on your oncall days and they don't use you at least one of your days do you still get paid?😊
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 5 месяцев назад
Hi there Iliana. Thank you for the questions. Yes, I do get paid for the monthly meeting time. I also get paid for the standby time when I’m in the airport. Currently we get almost 5 hours of pay. But that would depend on your airline. And that is whether I get used or not. If I get used, then it’s usually more money because the trip they put me on will be longer than my standby time. Overall, we do get paid for our time while on call. And sometimes we get paid for some extras as well. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for the comment, watching and subscribing.😀

Do you have the chance of changing to your convenient base after certain time?
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 5 месяцев назад
Hello again. Yes, you definitely get the chance to change your base. Depending on your airline, you should be able to change every six months or so if you choose when space in that new base is available. At first I was based in Detroit and only had to stay there for 2 months before transferring to Seattle which was my choice. But again, it’s dependent on your airline and the availability of space they have at your new base. 😁

When is the best time to apply?
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 2 месяца назад
Depending on the airline will depend on when you can apply. I don’t believe that there is a set schedule for when they accept applications so keep a lookout and visit their websites often. I do hear a rumor that my airline will be accepting applications in the fall. Hope that helps. Have a wonderful day.😊

Thanks so much Justin. I hope that the info is useful. I’m excited to get part two to you soon. It’s a lot of info to organize but something that an upcoming FA needs to know. As always thanks for the comment. See you on the next one! 😁

Hi, VF. Yes, a while since a vlog. Good high times in October and December. But, per usual, things probably slowed down after that. Many times nothing on the open board or to swap. As for me, and, remember, I am 82 - was offered a CJO 6 February. And, since then, drug, fingerprint, and background checks have been approved. So am awaiting a training date. Truly, I never expected to be invited to the hiring event day, much less being offered opportunity for training. I figured I had nothing to lose. Certainly hope I can pass the training. Better than sitting here in this condo most of the time that is way too big for me now that I have been alone now for just over a year. I am not wanting to do it for the $$, because, as you know, the take home pay is not very much for first couple years. It is to be with different people and crews every work time and to try the lifestyle. If I get the wings, will not be in Seattle. I am sure to sell the condo, if that happens, and the idea is to unload it ASAP then, not to maximize the sale profit. What a price to pay for his death, but my late hubby left me strong, financially. So, someone will find a real bargain here in west Seattle, since am at southern edge of city, 20 minutes from SeaTac. Should not be hard, since it is ground floor, 2 br, 2 bath, washer& dryer, fireplace, bamboo hardwood floors, patio and garage, in a building that is 4 units, 2 down and 2 up. Of course, while in training, can just lock the doors. AND, should I fail training, will still sell it. SEA is just too chilly much of the time for me and would rather be back in the warmer clime of the Southland. Miss those palms snd bougainvillea and birds of paradise every day. Keep safe, and glad to see you back. Herman

In practice, how does 120 hour month feel? Is that heavy or if you want, could do more? Thank you.
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 6 месяцев назад
Hi there. In reality it’s right around my limit. If I didn’t have a family then I could do more but there has to be a balance, you know? I have heard that some FAs go as far as 160-170 per month. Not sure how that is physically possible but it does happen. Thanks for watching and subscribing. 😁
@justinlu5479
@justinlu5479 6 месяцев назад
I did 150 hours and 169 hours as well. I have been working as flight attendant over 20 years. So it depends on every individual. I think 120 hours per month is quite reasonable if you only do domestic routes especial north and south routes. It is harder if flight schedule have time zone different. Jet lag kills. @@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 6 месяцев назад
Yes, I agree, jet lag definitely does kill your mojo. I personally do average around 120 hours a month. I would say that is an actual full-time flight attendant workload.

These new hire meetings that are every month for you. Were they paid meetings? secondly when you had the meetings, did you have to go in on your own time or did the company schedule those meetings blocking out your schedule making it available for you to attend?
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 6 месяцев назад
Hi there! Yes, they were paid meetings that are scheduled into your month. So you will know ahead of time. Sometimes it gets scheduled in the middle of your off time so watch out for that. That’s for the comment and question. Talk soon. 😀
@adrenalinelife945
@adrenalinelife945 6 месяцев назад
My airline (a different legacy) does not payvus for those mandatory monthly meetings/sessions and does it blick our time out for them. Further they are required for the first 6-months (each month) and should you fail to attend it is about the equivalent of a missed trip!
