I love how OFMD is honestly just a fanfiction of the historical theory that the irl Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard were a thing. Even if the theory is true or not its a banger show.

I love how Lucius can be seen counting everythime you see him in the background after he is told to do so. It is a great little nuanced detail.

Re. "why did people do arranged marriages"...property! That's why his dad said only peasants marry for love - because they don't have any property worth speaking of to pass on or consolidate. Historically in many (patriarchal) cultures marriage was about ensuring heirs and passing on property, and not about being HAPPY with a partner. In fact, there is a lot of Medieval era literature that debates whether it is possible to have love in a marriage or whether there will always be too much duty involved and therefore love can only exist OUTSIDE marriage!

( either smt he wrote or talked about, can’t quite remember, but probably wrote !) about himself / his marriage

It's insane how "Discomfort in a married state" comes directly from historical documents on Stede Bonnet (the assumed reason for his pirating gig), but in this episode it not only describes the issue of Mary and Stede, but also, figuratively, Izzy and Ed.

I heard about this show a week or so after the last episode aired. I went in blind as well and watched the entire thing in one sitting. Then I watched it over and over again everyday for months. Excessive? Yes. Healing? Also yes. I actually recorded my reactions because I was thinking about starting a reaction channel, but I chickened out. Lol!

ALL ABOARD THE GREAT SHIP, BLACKBONNET!! Srsly tho, the first time I watched this episode was a trip. I was on an overnight flight, and I hadn't slept in over 24 hours, but I forgot to bring my usual sleep meds for my insomnia with me, so I decided to binge something instead of just starting at the wall thinking about how much I wished I could be sleeping right now. I'd been wanting to see OFMD, so when I saw it was an option to stream, I took it! ...Buuut I reacted to it a lot like you did, so you can imagine my gay sleep-deprived ass trying not to SQUEAL in a quiet and cramped airplane as everyone else around me was trying to sleep every time Stede and Blackbeard interacted

If possible I'd like to recommend a show called "Centaurworld" it's an animated show with incredibly likable goofball characters with a very interesting story.
