I needed a stove that would be more efficient during a winter hike, I chose the MSR Windpro II based on cost and its ability to reuse my existing gas canisters. Before the hike, I put together a brief test of this new cook system.
It's nice to see that the fuel line is flexible and the pot supports are small enough to handle the little 500ml "pots" that backpackers use. It's also nice to experience how quiet the burner is. Super loud burners can be a little off putting.
I think there should be a canister stand that holds it inverted. I also found a separately sold stand that holds the stove and helps keep it from sinking in the snow.
The MSR Whisperlite Universal just costs a few dollars more. It can use the inverted canisters in addition to several liquid fuel options. You can use it in below zero temperatures when running on liquid fuels.
