Great review, I also love my Sidi adventure 2 boots. Just ordered the rev’it dominator jacket/pants and gloves. I use the Touratech adventuro carbon 2 as well as a Schuberth c4 pro carbon. Got some held gloves for summer coming also.

Great review! Been wearing Dainese for years but really interested in Klim laminate jackets and this has been very helpful so many thanks 😀 have ordered Klim GTX adventure gloves and can't wait to see what they are like.

Had to rewatch, I recently purchased the black version of your rally jacket. Just need to find the pants next. Hopefully you’re staying out of trouble. : )

I’m definitely staying out of trouble. It wouldn’t know how to look for it anymore. Just living the life of an average 50 year old fart with dreams of traveling, remembering the good days before the pandemic. Congrats on your jacket. I really like mine, it is heavy, but once you’re got it on, you don’t feel it. I’m pretty happy with the hydra pack. I do wish it had bigger inner pockets. Thanks for watching (again) 😊😊👍

If you’re looking to replace your Schuberth E1, take a look at the Nexx x viligard carbon. They make touratech’s helmets. The x com system has a cut out and is made by sena. It’s a modular and light weight. And matches the kalamata and black on your bike. : )

Hmm. Maybe I need to switch to Klim gear for my next suit? This looks really impressive, especially managing to keep that many openings waterproof! I find there is not a lot of options if you want a chest protector system included in the jacket. This and mine, Rukka Realer are the only ones I know of. I also use hand muffs on the bike for the wettest/coldest days to ease the strain on the gloves. That makes a big difference if the weather is not good. I mostly envy the easy pants/boots solution on the Klim gear. So simple, yet works perfectly. Thanks for the video😊

I don't know Rukka myself, but those I have heard of who use it have been very happy with it. It is difficult to not have water coming through at the zippers, but I found that Klim do that very well. Thanks for watching :-)

The peak on my E1 wouldn’t lock up. It kept falling down to cover part of my face shield. It’s heavier than my Sedici too. I quit wearing it.

That was quick.😬 I greatly can recommend another helmet. The Klim Krios Pro Helmet. The Schubert is ok but no more then that. The Krios is such a great helmet. It is absurd how good it is. And it is so light. Because Klim uses a new material at the inside instead of EPS isolation. And it is more impact resistance. The deflector is also much better. Wind is going though it but still giving more then enough shade against the sun. It can be refitted very quicly. But the visor. The visor. Not normal. It can adapt to different strenght of UV light. It get darker when there is much sunlight. It adapts very quick. And it is not getting to dark. I have owned four Schuberts helmets. The last one is the C3 Carbon Pro. All the visors did suck because the mechanism to hold it up are to weak. Going faster then 50, 60 Kph it flips back down. So terrible annoying. I was thinking about getting a new suit. Cause my Rukka is worn out. Had it for 16 years so no fault to it. It was a great jacket. Was thinking about the Stadler Airvent. Because it has three Goretex layers and it comes with a ton of zippers you can open everywhere. And the innerside has been forseen with endless tubing witch do not compress and give you the maximum amount of airflow. And in winter combine it with a Macna heated jacket. Macna instead of Klan or Gerbing cause you can adjust the temp with an app on one of these new phones. So i perfect combination all year through. But i hear the Klim clothing is also at the high end and really really good. It is all expensive shit. But when i look back how long my Rukka jacket kept me company all those years then i am sure that in the end the cost were the same with the endresult of having the comfort and safety of very good clothing. Klim is very hard to come by. Maybe it is due to China or it is Klim itself that does not flood the European market with their stuff. It is made in the States but the half fabricats will probably come from the land of the Dragon/Mefisto/Belzebub and so on. A land with lots of white cats i must say.😌 And because it will definitly be my last outfit i want the best there is. Standing up on the bike gets very hard with my age and nothing more then that gets hard.🥺 Luckely Goretex can breath from the inside out. Maybe another tip. I use i Klim backpack with 2.5 liter water. I have bought a cheap cooling bag. I put it around the water and hang it on the same button. It takes almost no space but your water keeps cool the whole day. It doesn't get warm up that quicly because of the sun burning on the black color. It can be zipped close around the tube so cold will stay inside. Throw a bottle of two in the fridge and pour it in the hydration bag. I hate it when water gets a 30 degrees Celsius and this is a good and cheap fix against it. And in the evening when leaving the supermarket you can use it to put in some groceries and some meat so it keeps fresh until you get to your campingplace. Otherwise the groceries are becoming very hot in a bag when the sun keeps shining on it. Greetings from Holland.🙏

Thanks for the review! I use the original KLIM Badlands gear. Just not sure what to replace it with as the new Badlands are not as good.
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures 4 года назад
It is a tough decision. I like that the older Badlands and the Adventure have the satellite messenger pocket on the front. I'm thinking when its placed on the arm, it could be difficult to reach if the other arm or collar bone is broken in a fall. Luckily that had not happened yet. Thanks for watching :-)

Yes, the Klim gear is expensive. But they are great. Are they worth their price tag? It depends. I like being able to ride hot days, heavy rain, a mix, drizzle; basically all kinds of weather without changing/put on rain shell and still be dry. But there are definitely alternatives. You can get two jackets of the price of the Rally Adventure, but then you'd have to decide or carry both. It is all individual preferences. Thanks for watching 😊

Excellent video, that Klim jacket certainly covers must most bases. How often do you wash it and with what?
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures

I don't clean it very often, to be honest. When I do, at 40 (celcius), no detergent, no tumble drying. I'd recommend looking it up at Klim.com to be sure. Thanks for watching :-)

Great videos through Scandinavia. I have identical bike (purchased March 2019) but currently suffering front brake calliper leakage. Gold colour with embossed BMW marking, manufactured by Hayes of USA I think. Any issues with your brakes?
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures 4 года назад
No issues that serious. Sorry to hear about yours. It really sucks having issues with a brand new bike. After a tyre replacement the front starters to make a high pitch sound high enough to notice, when no brake applied. I understand the brake pads can move around a bit. No affect on braking though. I exchanged the left set with the right set and it went away. Isn’t a caliper replacement (under warranty) not the only option for you?
@peterbarwick4938
@peterbarwick4938 4 года назад
Backroad Motorcycle Adventures Thanks for the reply. Yes it’s covered under warranty but there a back log problem with order/supply. My dealer says I have to wait until April this year for new parts. I’ve not seen any manufacturer recall but several motorcycle forums mention calliper leaking on R1250 models. Good luck on your adventures.

Hi, any chance you can show a bit more about how you removed the squeak from your Sidi boots? Just bought a new pair and so would be very useful. Thanks and ride safe. 👍

All this joints where plastic moves around, I greased those areas where the plastic rubs against something. It took a few attempts to get it right, but that was basically it. I just used ordinary shoe grease. Maybe other lubricants would work too, but I wanted to use something I was pretty sure wouldn’t damage anything.

I am interested in the process for taking the bike on the train. Have you done a video on the subject?
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures 4 года назад
Sorry, I haven't. But this video shows it pretty well. The guy in the high vis jacket just tells the rider that he cannot have anything loose on the bike. By that he means anything that is strapped must come off and into the train. Hard panniers are OK. Often, they secure the windscreen with straps as the train can go backwards with speeds more than 160 km/h (100 mph). The staff will secure the bike for you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AQw_V85h-Q4.html

Hi, nice video. I’m considering laminated Gore Tex gear from some time. My main concern is how does it perform in hot weather? Is it acceptable in 30+ degrees conditions?
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures 4 года назад
If there are enough vents, I think you’d be fine. It is warm, no doubt, and you want to keep moving to get some circulation. But once you get some air circulating under the gear, it is fine. At last it is for me. Thanks for watching :-)

What is that 'Spot" emergency device?
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures 4 года назад
It's a device that send an emegerncy signal to GEOS along with your location. It does not use cell phone network, but satellite (Globalstar). Garmin has something they call InReach (using Iridium). Except for emergency (that I used once), I use it let let family know I'm OK (usually at the end of the day), and breadcrumb trail (updates every 10 minute), so friends and family can see where I am. It is a useful device for me as I travel in different countries with different (sometimes outrageous) roaming prices. And often in mountains and forests without cell phone coverage. Otherwise a smartphone could do the same. And of course, GEOS know my location in an emergency (which can be very difficult to explain in a language you don't speak). Thanks for watching :-)

Hard riding requires good gear and your gear is excellent. Have you tried touring boots instead of ADV boots?Are those SIDI's good to walk in?
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures
@BackroadMotorcycleAdventures 4 года назад
Before the Sidi boots I had touring boots. I felt they did not give me enough protection when riding off road. Branches can catch your foot at twist it, it can get stuck under the bike and I wanted some that protected more of the lower leg . They are OK to walk in, as they are not too hard. Thanks for watching :-)

So far just regular underwear. I have started to replace some of it with merino wool versions as they are supposed to be easier to clean and last longer in between. Those who use it are very happy with it.

@@tw25rw I've got a set of Held technical underwear which is excellent as it's quite warm when needed but even when it's hot you don't get swamp ass. Really recommend "Held 3D Skin" set. They have a cool set and a winter set.
