I mean no disrespect when I suggest that outer beauty does not fade. Youthfulness is not the same thing as outer beauty. I welcome people to consider that aged skin, aged bodies, and aged hair can be beautiful if we accept them with wisdom as badges of honor instead of as problems. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating youthful beauty, but we can also celebrate aged beauty and get over the cultural obsession with youthfulness. There is nothing quite so ‘worldly’ as believing beauty is isolated to youth.
You’re right, it is the way of the world. That doesn’t mean it’s worth following. Everyone can use their own judgement about what they choose to value. I don’t think chasing youthful appearances is going to impact the would as much as appreciating mature beauty. I’m glad to be blessed with a significant other that will appreciate my outward appearance well after I lose my youth. I’m glad my partner is willing to reject norms with me. I hope everyone can find that kind of peace of mind, no matter how they get there.
Abraham’s Sarah was so hot, he had to lie to protect himself from the king who coveted her 😂 ...and she was already old! lol. Lots of beautiful women are older. They’re just not as appreciated in mainstream media
When she said “when you’re trying to mentally get through the day, you don’t really care about your hair and makeup” - I felt that 💞 sometimes we’re so caught up in just surviving from what you’re going through, nothing else really matters ! Stay strong ladies 💞
@@elena.deinhammer I do the same thing. For me, looking as good as I can helps me to hide my pain from people and make it appear like I have it all together when I'm falling apart.
That most of my days 😔 I’m trying to change that Even tho it’s hard to put effort into my presentation initially, I do find that getting dressed up and putting on make up actually makes me feel a bit better ^^
1. Skincare and clearing skin - daily routine 2. Work on eyebrows 3. Makeup application and techniques 4. Hair health and growth 5. Weight loss and diet - optional 6. Personal style that's flattering 7. Wearing lip color daily
@@MrsMidwest Lol what?? Your hair is not ashy at all, that is a lovely rich golden blonde! Looks great and really compliments your skin and eye color. :)
@@iloveyou-pm4tj Ur roots always be darker than ur ends. Especially if ur hair is not dyed. No matter ur hair colour. And blond hair changes shades due to lightning very drastically.
Embracing how you look naturally is so much easier than working against it - I'm pale with curly black hair, it would be exhausting to chase the tan blonde look! Of course women like to play with their appearance but there's a difference between just putting on makeup and painting on a whole new face. Embrace and enhance what you have!
CPT B Not always though. I have medium-pale skin with naturally black curly hair, but it didn’t suit me. Once I dyed my hair light brown and blow dried my hair straight once a week, I got a lot more attention and I also felt more confident. I agree with your overall sentiment
Black hair and pale skin is really beautiful. I see so many girls who put foundation several shades darker, and lighten their hair in attempt to look better but they only end up looking worse imo.
Lili 406 I actually don’t recommend you use this color system. It is very inaccurate, since it focuses on hair color, eye color and skin color; rather than skin tone and brightness itself. You should check out Merriam’s Style channel, she has videos on color analysis and palettes. It changed my life!
I'm not entirely sure how to say this. I saw a reaction video to the Mrs Midwest channel that was very negative. I've seen a fair amount of reaction videos and something just kinda struck me as sketchy so I went down to the comments sections which was glowing with praise to this woman. Everyone said she had been misrepresented and she was a very positive person. I've bounced around the channel to check it out myself, I've seen I think ten videos now. While I'm personally not interested in getting married or being a homemaker - I do really appreciate the approach to these topics that Mrs Midwest takes. There seems to be a stronger focus on community, and if this is right for you, and a lot of realistic tips that could be applied to a variety of women in a variety of situations. So I'm not exactly the demographic here, but I do appreciate the positive and very practical approach to this brand of content. I think you are doing a fantastic job and from what I've seen of the comments you've grown a real community of women here. I think it is difficult for women who want this lifestyle to talk openly about it in this day and age. It's seen differently and almost as a slight of character. So I think it's wonderful that you all have each other and this channel to talk about ways to navigate the life you have chosen for yourself. I hope you keep up the good work and be blessed and be happy!
Some people are just hateful for the sake of being hateful, but most of those people who made those videos just said those negative things things because they are more progressive and believe her message is damaging to women. I don’t think they understand that RU-vid doesn’t force you to watch anything, you click on the videos and watch them for yourself. YOU subscribe to the channel. It’s obvious who the demographic is for her videos, I don’t understand why they waste time making videos about how horrible they think she is just because they don’t agree with her.
I don't see the point in creating content purely for the need of hating or turning down others, that hole concept is sketchy, no matter what they are talking about
This is my very first comment on RU-vid. I have watched all of your RU-vid Mrs West. I comment this before I watch it. I just want to say thank you 😊 🥰
Mrs Midwest aw soo sweet of you! And yes i toootally am on board with you for having lip color. makes such a difference! matches so nicely with your light spring skin tone! 🥰🥰
I ended up becoming a feminine goth and it suits me so well because I naturally am pale and my hair is jet black. I wanted to dye it blonde but it just never fit me
I actually found your page accidentally from a hater page that was suggested to me. I began watching this video because of the deceiving title. But she was saying how you were a bit crazy for your ideas. Immediately went to your page because I agree with you so much! I love being a homemaker, millennial, feminine, woman! So grateful for your haters who led me to your video! Feel like we are friends who have never met!
hello, I'm almost 14 and I want my life to be a bit more organised and less chaotic. your videos are one of my wake up call. I just discovered you through one of your videos and now I watched 3 videos from you now. really enjoy the way you talk, how you give actual useful advice, etc. hopefully 2020 will be a year of huge life improvement for me. 2020 here I come to be a better person!
potato_215 me too! I struggle with body image and feeling confident with my features, and with school and stress, I rarely feel like putting effort into my appearance and it just makes me feel worse. So I’m hoping 2020 will be the year I come into myself.
I feel like you’d really enjoy the RU-vid channel AlyArt. Also, I know exactly what you’re talking about in terms of just trying to mentally survive. I had some kind of breakdown and cut all my beautiful hair off LOL 😭 Now I’m working on growing it back longer.
P. S. A-line skirts that go past knee length are my favourite too!!! I have bigger shoulders so I have a suspicion that the skirts balance it out on the bottom and that’s why I always feel so so pretty when I wear them ❤️❤️ your outfits highlight on Instagram is my number one inspiration, love you so much!!
Yes AlyArt is so good! MerriamStyle too, she has a great and simple colouring system I think, where you don't have too many types just a spectrum with 4 types.
@@gretas6794 That is amazing! Thank you for mentioning what you like on my Instagram as well. It's helpful for me to know what's helpful for all ya'll! We are skirted kindred spirits ;)
Yes I love Aly Art! Great recommendation. She is so no-nonsense and tells the honest truth! I looooove that Eastern European/Russian mentality. And she breaks down all the aesthetic and visual reasons why something works or doesn't. She is a gem!
yes to Korean skin-care! (as an African-American woman!), such a wealth and helpful information, in their skin culture. love it. I also like to follow aestheticians on Instagram. thank you for the video :-)

*TWINS* I started my Glow Up in 2017 too but it has been a very slow process due to environment. You need a certain amount of mental strength to deal w/ ppl who want you to "be and look like them". I learned make up application and it changed my life b/c forced me to engage in other other of my body due to having to look in the mirror. You cannot ignore yourself when you see it first hand. I use to be a size 18 but now I'm a size 10 (size 8 on good days lol). For the longest I thought I was an overweight "ruler shape" or a arkward spoon shape with no hips b/c I couldn't see my shape. After I lost weight I got measured by my costume director (I got stage costume design as an executive) and he told me that I was an hourglass and if in lost more weight that it will be even more obvious. I could NOT believe thatI got a good bra fitting which is what I needed b/c I had been wearing bras that were too small (I'm a 32 D and b/c I'm on the smaller end if the Ds it's confusing when you're a teenager when all the sister sizes lol My best sister size is a 38 B as of now). My mom relaxed my hair when I was 2 or 3 years old (I have curly wavy hair by the way but my mom is just crazy😭) so it always broke off until I left her house and grew it out...but then I tried to go blonde and it looked nice until...it broke off even more then I tried to dye over it with her black dye (my hair has never been that dark) and it make things worst...then I had an issue with contaminated water in one of my residencies and that screwed my skin up and my hair lolololol. On the bright side my hair is at least shoulder length lol. My mood has been very down this month and my exercising suffered. I will be increasing my working outs b/c my Glow Up journey is not over yet. Thank you for doing this video Caitlyn👏💖💯
I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while now, and recently I saw these videos (especially by Jaclyn Glenn) calling you toxic. These people took everything you said out of context. I definitely do not agree with them. You are one of the sweetest, most kind people I’ve ever seen. Your channel is so unique in 2019 and it’s so refreshing. Keep going :)
Love your channel, I love fashion, I'm a student in fashion design and a fashion youtuber, and I love all of your advices, just so refreshing to see someone with a feminine and elegant style ❤️
Same, I stopped dying my hair 2 years ago and realized it looks best on me 😄 Been getting more compliments now because it looks healthier too, not to mention low maintenance and budget-friendly 💖
First video I've ever seen of yours. I saw Jaclyn Glenn's video first, and while I appreciate her opinions most of the time, I do think she was twisting your words a bit. I think you're such a cutie, and have a calming air about you
This is honestly such a good video idea. I’m 29 and have never looked hotter- if you saw me a decade ago, you’d understand the full impact of this transformation. And it’s nice to share tried and true tips. To this video I would add, in terms of staying fit and lean, happiness is the ultimate fat burner. When I moved to Florida I was instantly happier, I was in a place that made me want to spend a lot of time outside, and less time idly eating. I was getting lots of sunshine, exercise, and experiencing less overall stress and able to sleep earlier. I lost 20 pounds in 3 months after moving to a place I loved- I didn’t do anything extreme, like restrict calories or eliminate food products like sugar, dairy, alcohol, etc. But in general I do eat less and I make most of my meals at home. .
There's a legend that you might encourage women that write a comment early... Discipline is the key to so much in this world. I'm starting a glow up journey. ❤️
can you show us more of what your daily meals look like? I dont know how to eat healthy other than just eating a boring salad everyday so id like some ideas ;(
Blue Frosting look into the keto diet while not consuming so much red meats. (meat in general is isn’t too good for us it’s just rotting in our system) definitely try eating more greens veggies fruits fish organic carbohydrates!
Blue Frosting, avoid refined sugars and carbohydrates. Stick to whole foods: whole wheat, rye, buckwheat, fruits instead of refined sugar, etc... Make sure you’re eating plenty of roots: onions, garlic, ginger, carrots, radishes. They are very good for skin and hair. Make sure to eat plenty of dark leafy greens. Do not forget about protein: nuts, beans, cheese, and meat. Nuts are the healthiest and most friendly option for easy digestion. If you eat meat, limit it, especially red meat. Meat is very tough on digestion. Eat your healthy fats. Avoid fried food. Cook foods at low to medium temperature. Oil releases radicals at higher temperatures. So does meat. Unless you’re making soup, don’t boil your vegetables. Either steam them, bake them, or cook them. Boiling leaches them of nutrients. So if you’re making soup, the nutrients end up in the broth, so you’re not missing out on nutrients.
I like how you explained inner beauty is more important in the beginning. I love your outlook on beauty, and just your outlook on taking care of yourself. I’m going through what you went through before your glow up 😂 I’ve noticed lately I need to honestly start taking care of myself regardless of what I’m going through. Thanks for your videos girl EDIT : 2years later after applying what I’ve learned from your channel. My husband friends and family have all noticed the effort that I put into my beauty. My husband loves it. And it has stemmed into so many other areas of my life 💕💕
I like how your content is reasonable, accessible, and realistically applicable without just repeating the same things that channels normally do when they address aspects of femininity.
0,4% dislikes and 99,6% likes; you’re doing amazing love, keep up the good work !! love you doll x also i love how you’re wearing a hoodie but somehow still look put together
Caitlyn I've been following your skincare tips and I'm noticing such a difference. I do live in a big city and its very polluted but as long as I stick to your tips my skin is a lot more cooperative. Thank you so much!🙏
I love all these! Looking back, I started a transformation when I was about 17 or 18, and I gradually implemented all these things myself, daily skincare, learning about makeup and fashion, changing my diet, exercising, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LIPSTICK! it's a great mood lift and very classy, and yes even giving my brows a makeover, I have dark bushy brows and just keeping them groomed made a huge difference. I'm 20 now, and I'm not where I want to be yet, but I genuinely enjoy the journey of self-improvement, and when I look back at where I started, I'm a little bit stunned at how far I've come. I'm grateful to ladies like you who inspire, encourage, and educate others.
Ever since I have started watching you and applying your advice to my life ,embracibg my femininity, everyone around me have been complementing my personality and style .Yesterday ,A colleague commented that she has never seen a girl like me ,another speaking as to how she is impressed by my personality and honestly that made me so grateful to you ,Caitlyn. ❤❤❤
So inspirational ! I totally relate on going through a difficult time and not caring about appearance anymore. I was in a very difficult state mentally and I am now getting better so I am trying to glow up. Thanks for the motivation, you're so sweet and pretty, keep up the good work !
Makeup and beauty is great, but I feel as though is should be a hobby and fun. If you do beauty and weight loss and weight gain in a place of insecurity, you will feel worse and even more insecurity. Accept the ug;y and love it, then do beauty. Comment is you disagree
I get my hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks and it definitely has made a HUGE difference and my hair is now longer :) I go to the gym every morning. My next step in my glow up is working on what meals I am consuming every day. I never skip breakfast but perhaps I need to have a healthier lunch/dinner :) Thank you so much for creating this video.
When transitioning to your natural hair colour, did you just grow it out and when long enough cut off the hair with your old hair color or did you dye it your natural hair color and then grow it out? ✨
God. I suppose my perfect diet is vegetarianism because everything is growing. My hair is growing, my nails, my eyebrows, my lashes. They're so thick. Edit: And frilly dresses, blouses and skirts look literally amazing on me. It's so crazy.
I know this was made 2 years ago but I just wanted to point out that blunt cuts are scientifically proven to cause more breakage and split ends than a tapered cut
Caitlyn, thank you for this wonderful video. I appreciate how you put looking good, right up there, with feeling good and being good. I'm fat, and I've been fatter. I still choose the now me, than me fatter. I HAD to address the weight, sort out the bad lifestyle choices for better ones, because I had myself to focus on. And as you correctly said, we aren't supposed to be ashamed of our curves just because the society sexualizes it so casually. I've been struggling with people's reactions to me wearing a more traditional garment, the saree, as a 24 year old Indian, and I sincerely believe that I look and feel my best in it. I do get a lot of comments on how I should dress my age (meaning wear a mini skirt, a bodycon dress and all that) but what they translate to me is, "Don't dress as you please, don't dress for yourself, dress like what everyone does. Don't bother with making personal fashion choices. Don't try to be you." and now tell me, isn't THAT offensive?! I'm so glad that I glowed up into my now self. I feel that my style and appearance has become more consistent and doesn't that make for a classic! Thanks Caitlyn, really enjoyed this one. The bushy brows do suit you better ❤
I love your bolder eyebrows, I'm brunette so I have darker eyebrows anyways but I'm so happy bold eyebrows are becoming more accepting and I used to wanna pluck and shave them to make them thinner but I look better with my eyebrows so I just kind of pluck them with tweezers in the middle and on the ends to give them a better shape
I watched this video last year . It is so difficult for me to get out of my nerdy comfort zone. But I've accomplished first part (skin care routine) I think by next year I can do more
I've heard that walking is better for us than running and benefits all parts of our bodies, even out eyes. What I really think is that walking is not "good for us" but that we are meant to walk and not walking is *bad for us* and detrimental to our entire body and health systems. Our bodies are made to walk and doing so brings us many health benefits we rob oirself of when we ignore our body's design.
Haha yes! I know the clear-eyebrows struggle all too well. My fiance (with fantastic full Greek eyebrows) used to joke and say to me, "what eyebrows?!". I personally use an eyebrow gel to fill them in!
Thank you so much , this is so inspiring. I love how you explain we should embrace our natural beauty and simply highlight and work with our features rather than trying to be something else eg contouring to get the Kim K look.
I love this video, it was really fun and made me feel proud of my femininity. I have been a silent viewer watching your channel since March and I am genuinely so happy your channel reach so many subscribers. Your videos really helped me to embrace my femininity again, your a blessed soul :)
Mrs. Midwest, your hair always looks so voluminous and shiny. As a girl with fine hair also, can you let us know what products you use to style your hair? Also, I would love to see a video on your best makeup tips/advice. You always look so classy and lovely!
So, I don't have all the same morals or values as you, but I still really enjoy this video and a fair amount of your videos. It goes to show that people from all walks of life and opinions can still find middle ground, still respect and learn from each other. Cheers.
@Mrs Midwest I was thinking about it too. I found it interesting because you have very romantic face and body but also you are quite tall if I remember correctly 😄
you are the best lady ever. DO NOT let anyone stop you. You inspire thousands to be the best ladies they can be. YOU INSPIRE ME. Forever thankful. God loves you
You have a gorgeous smile!!! I’m so appreciative of the lipstick tip!! Thank you so much. I always notice though that your teeth are so healthy looking and very white!! I would love to know what your dental hygiene routine is and how you keep them so bright!
