This is one of my more favorite fish. He can grow to be 28 in. He is a rare oddity in the aquarium trade. Few people have one. And i love to talk to others who have one, or had one, or just have a totally different fish that they love. I love all fish and pour my heart and soul into taking care of all 5 of my fish tanks (cold, tropical, brackish, saltwater, and species,) but this fish among all the rest i love.

They are know as High Fin Banded Sharks, Chinese Sailfin suckers, and a few other common names it goes by. Its scientific name is Myxocyprinus asiaticus. They actually aren't recommended in the aquarium trade for people to buy unless they have a 100 gallon or bigger to live in and even at that that wouldn't be big enough to house one for its entire life. Its tank should have a length of around 140 in. for swimming room. If plans on keeping it alive for a long time then tank length should be alot bigger, and should be very tall (above 80in.) Tank should have strong filtration they love the current pushing against them). they love to hide so they need "tank safe" hiding places (roots mainly.) They are native to yangtse River in China. They grow up to 2 feet in length (in the giant fish catagory), and live up to 20 yrs.

I have that exact fish but it has an outline of a peachish color, could you tell me what fish it is? The fish store I got it from just named it as "Loach"
