A peek into what an average homeschool day looks like for us! I'm a stay at home mom of 4 and homeschooling my 11 and 6 year old, who are in 6th and 1st grade. Homeschooling is HARD, and I am still trying to figure out what works best for us with having different ages and young little ones that need lots of attention. I hope you enjoy this video :)

I do online school with my daughter, and the way they teach stuff, my husband and I are always correcting. She's always been in public school online and is happy with it, but I understand the days are rough most of the time. I think you're doing great, as you progress in your homeschooling journey I think you'll geel more comfortable. 🌻

Hi Jill, you have to do what’s best for you and the kids. It seems that most u-tube channels I watch home school. But what I have noticed is I don’t see any one of those that finished homeschooling go off to college!! I was wondering why that is? I never noticed the age gap between Madison and your oldest son. I’m at the point that I just don’t see any changes for the better in this world, I pray I’m wrong tho🌻🌻🌻

@MommyEtc Год назад
That’s weird, maybe it’s because the kids came from popular RU-vid families and instead of college they just become a RU-vidr too lol. Homeschoolers have no issues getting into college though, and can even do dual enrollment where they earn college credits while finishing high school. I think college is becoming something that many kids are choosing not to do these days. You just end up owing thousands of dollars and still can’t find a job.

I homeschool my 6th grader, 2nd grader and 1st grader. It's tough but so worth it. Math is and always was my weak point, but thank goodness there are so many curriculums to choose from. Most come with a teacher book, along with the answer sheets which are a must for me! My 6th grader also attended public school from k-3rd and after the pandemic, I realized how much I loved having my kids home with me. I'm also homeschooling for a few of the same reasons, you hit the nail on the head because I also am not comfortable sending my kids back to public school. Looks like you are doing a wonderful job!

Thank you for sharing your homeschool routine. Our son went to public school for pre-K, kindergarten and then the pandemic hit and they did remote for 1st. After that my husband and I decided to homeschool him for the same reasons. It’s been 2 yrs now he is in 3rd and even though it can be scary and for us relearn everything. We feel it was the best for us too.🌻

Thank you for updating us. You are doing great with homeschooling. Never thought I’d homeschool either but it’s been the best decision for my family. Love the flexibility and knowing what my daughter is learning. 🌻❤️

We have tried many different curriculums and seem to come back to the good and the beautiful. You should check them out! We use them for language, math, and history. Open and go, all ready for you. Even tells you what to say to your children. So simple and made easy for the parent! Also, not too long of lessons that you lose the child. 🤣

I don’t know how I missed this video! I’m homeschooling my kindergartener and 5th grader now. For Kindergarten I’m using teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons. I’ve taught two kids to read with this book. He also does Easy Peasy for math and language arts. My daughter just started power homeschool for 5th grade and we really love it. When she gets to high school we will switch to Acellus their accredited version.

I've heard a lot about 100 easy lessons and I'm curious what it's like. Might try it next year with Noah. Is there a reason you want to use an accredited version of online school? Because you don't actually need it for homeschool, unless there is just some benefit from it for you.
@lillyrowe4820
@lillyrowe4820 7 месяцев назад
@@MommyEtc it’s just easier for high school because they issue the diploma. It’s not necessary but I just like the program so I would definitely consider using their accredited program for high school.

Its so bad in the school systems right now. I'm homeschooling until further notice for my youngest. She's in kindergarten. We basically focus a lot on math and literacy activities. I have done science experiments. We do a lot of field trips. I have a lot of health things I wanna cover in the upcoming weeks. I like a lot of stuff from teachers pay teachers (my husband probably doesn't..LOL), but it's benefited her. I've always tried with oldest but situation was different and didn't have the same support like I do now. Plus my years of teaching helped eased people as well. My oldest is in High School and wanted to go to school for high school so that's fine. He knows I'll pull him out quick though if need to.

Abeka has online / video curriculum now so you could be more hands-off as the teacher. Their curriculum has been a favorite of homeschool families for a long time and is very structured. You're doing great! 🌻 Also Reading Eggs is a great program to supplement for your older two (or for Noah while you need him to stay busy and quiet). Very affordable too. We do Reading Eggs on a laptop that we purchased used.

Check with your local school district. My daughter is doing completely online through our local public school. She suffers anxiety and this works so much better for her. It's like home schooling but the school district provides the materials. My district doesn't advertise it I found out through word of mouth. May be easier for you. My daughter is older than Madison but she can navigate a lot of the work herself. Less pressure on mom.

🌻 we started homeschooling the same time and for the same reasons as you. I wanted to mention A.C.E. Homeschool curriculum since it is all student led instead of parent/teacher led. My oldest has been using it for a few subjects for awhile now and it has been going really well, made him super independent. A little help to keep on it at the beginning, but he is able to do lots of it on his own. I am planning on switching him to mainly this curriculum next year. I thought I would mention it since it has definitely helped us. I do want to mention that I grade his work though, it does say your child can grade it themselves, but that is something I do instead. We are also using the good and the beautiful still for my younger two, just takes a lot more teaching for me to do. Totally get where you coming from, homeschooling is definitely not always so pretty and exciting like some families show. I just keep trying and pushing myself to be better and find things that will help the kids be more independent. We definitely have those days or weeks that as long as we get math and language arts done, I feel accomplished.
@MommyEtc
@MommyEtc Год назад
I haven’t heard of that program but I will look into it! I’m actually looking more into using Easy Peasy more for Madison, so she can be more independent. I don’t really enjoy being her teacher lol, I’d rather it be like, go on the computer and do your work and tell me when you’re done so I can check it/ look over it 😅 Is that a thing?! We tried power homeschool and it wasn’t good because I couldn’t see what she was doing at all.

I like the good and the beautiful science because it works for several grades an i feel like its pretty easy to teach. Have you looked into gather round homeschool? its meant to do all together I haven't tired it yet I'm thinking I might switch over to it once mine are older an have more then 2 doin school. I was homeschooled an always wanted to homeschool my kids but I still struggle an definitely don't compare to alot of the RU-vid homeschoolers I think your doin great an I love that your husband helps too the kids are gonna have great memories learning from you both 🌻

The day starts so nice with a cup of coffee! Are you working from home too or have a side hustle. Is RU-vid your side hustle? I’m just really impressed how you can stay home and raise 4 beautiful children with this economy. I’ve been watching since Madison was a baby and I have started work 5 months ago, my youngest is 11. We barely can make due with 3 kids and both working full-time😢! I’m happy for ya’ll! ❤❤❤Kids are so big! Im always coming to your videos when I want a calm morning or cleaning-up frenzy feel! 😂

Yeahh RU-vid is my side hustle. Without it, Greg would def have to get a diff job and I’m not sure we’d even have this house. Even with the money I make from RU-vid, don’t really have much for extra/fun stuff. It sucks, but at least we have what we have right now.

There are homeschool groups all over, you just have to join groups so they can get to meet some kids. Or if you don’t find the kind of group you want, start it yourself! Facebook is awesome for starting homeschool meetups.

Have you thought about Timberdoodle? That's more structured & less random. That might be helpful for Madison. I would totally homeschool to, for the same main reason you gave; I don't agree with things schools here in the UK are teaching. Our government is trying to get "reproductive" education into our 5 yrs olds in state schools (what you in the US call public schools) as if one size fits all! A child will ask their parents when they're ready. Teachers in state schools don't like it either, but have no choice in the matter! I know other parents who are homeschooling here now & it's becoming more popular here in the UK since COVID. It used to be the exception rather than the rule, but parents who are able are becoming more likely to homeschool now. I feel bad for parents who want to, but can't. Our government are coming out with increasingly ridiculous ideas of what to teach our kids!
