I had my first Mirena inserted in the spring of 2010 and chose to get a hormonal IUD as opposed to the Paraguard IUD. I had the Paraguard inserted in 2003 and had it removed only two years after because I had heavy 8-day periods (with strong cramps) and used a low-dose pill that was offered by Planned Parenthood and was mailed to me for free. I started a new job with better health insurance and wanted a contraceptive that didn't cause depression feelings like the pill did and something that will lighten or stop my period. I have not had any bleeding and I am on my third Mirena IUD. I had my first IUD for 6 years and my Gyne said that's O.K. What happens now is when a new one is due to be implanted, the old one is pulled and a replacement is implanted at the same time. Every time I feel like I could faint but it is nice that I get offered some water to prevent fainting. I have my niece because her mother didn't use a condom because her Gyne didn't replace her IUD when the IUD was removed. It was thought that women would need a month without the IUD to have a period and then have a replacement inserted. With my current IUD I think may cause me to have a little bit of abdominal weight gain but that could be because I'm in my mid-forties and am working at a stress-filled occupation, which can make losing excess weight harder. I'm happy to have had no periods to deal with, no cramps, and no feeling blue all of the time from the pill.

The reason why it didn’t hurt as bad after child birth is because the cervix has been dilated before where as a person who hasn’t given birth there cervix has never been dilated and needs to be stretch to put the IUD in the uterus😊

Mine hurt so bad. And I had children. They were scheduled csections though to do a medical issues. So my cervix never dilated. I got the paraguard IUD and two years after getting it got pregnant on it. My doctor told me in the rare chance you get pregnant with it there’s a 50% chance of miscarriage. Luckily we had a healthy baby but after all that I got my tubes tied.

I got mine shortly after giving birth and the insertion was traumatic for me.. worst pain I’ve ever felt.

I've had mine for about a month and basically just haven't stopped bleeding. Seriously thinking about getting it removed, this is BS.

It's completely normal to have bleeding once you have it inserted it can last up to 3 to 6 months and eventually you won't have any bleeding

I’ve had mine for 9 months now. I’ve been on period this month for 15 days. I hate the mirena so much 😫

I got mine in June 5th and haven’t stopped bleeding since! When I say the cramps make me rethink life is is crazy! I asked for a hysterectomy I’m not dealing with this

@@Thinkofme_ mirena actually helped with my cramps. Thats literally the only positive. I’m getting it removed on Tuesday and trying the birth control patch. Hopefully that works out better for me.

It hurt me SO BAD to get it in and out and i think its caused some real problems. My uterus hurts all the time. Don't do it.

The mirenua iud doesn't make you gain weight because it doesn't have any estrogen in it.

It made me gain weight i went up two cup sizes. So everybody’s body is different.

@@ashleyp1997 im just talking from my own experience. I went up two pants sizes in 5 months which was abnormal for me. And also i went from a 38 ddd to a 42 G. Its also been harder for me to lose weight. I have been on it for more than 5 years. And alot of plp on youtube have claimed the same thing. Saying they work out alot and still cant drop a pound. I dont eat bad and i work out but this was just my experience. It was worth it because i made it out my 20’s with no children but my body changed when i got on it.

Mine hasn't made me gain in fact it decreased my appetite to where I didn't eat so I went from 274 pounds to about 260 to 261 pounds and plus I'm in the gym working out and etc. The nurses told me that since it doesn't have estrogen in it won't make me gain weight. What I recommend is probably drinking a lot of water 24/7s
