My Honest Opinion of Delhi in AOE4... (Top 3 Aggressive CIv) 

For some reason Delhi just feels good to play with, whatever way you play! That's why it was my first mastery

as a 2tc Delhi enjoyer, yeah, HoL is really good with that opening, hearthy rations give you around 3 extra resources per min per villager, so when you get to 80 vills faster this landmark is giving you comparable extra resources to other good eco castle age landmarks with honed bladed on top of that. The best thing of Delhi 2tc is how fast you get your upgrades in castle and imperial. just put 13 of your extra vills on gold during age up and start producing schoolars from 2 mosques and then for 1300 resoures (a slightly less amount of resources than researchin veteran archer, horseman and spearmen + 1 tier 2 eco upgrade) you can have all castle age your techs in 96 seconds. In imperial is a similar story, it only takes 2990 resources to reduce your research time to 81 seconds, that less than 3 university techs

My dear Beast, let me (a good old gold Player) explain, why Delhi is so rarely picked in general. I am an expert, cause I only play Delhi. And it is my first RTS I play online after years on consoles. So in general, Delhi is only as good as the person playing it. That of course is true for all other civs, but Delhi in particular. You have to multitask, be aggressive, get all stuff together, than Delhi is strong, but that is tough. You can`t sit in your base and boom, eyes mainly on your base, like other civs, you have to be on the map and don't allow mistakes, who are more likely to happen. So Delhi is hard mode, cause it is kinda the most balaced civ with only tiny specialitys and require a good pilot BUT when you master Delhi, you become a good player and can propably pilot all other civs. That's why I stick with them since day one, but I don't have enough time to play and get better. Anyway, I hope, that explain a bit, why it is picked so rarely. Guys, stay like that, don't crunch, take xhu zhi, rus and Ayyubids and don't become better players. So when I have time, I can march through to platin xD Have a good one, folks :)

It's funny, the Delhi were the only Base Game Civ I never played. I only played them when the Sultans Ascend expansion was announced. I played them so I could get a feel for all the Civs to choose a main thinking Japan would be the one and it turns out they were there all along. So I too want to encourage people to give them a go, they are actually super fun!

The ONLY time elephants have ever felt weak to me is when I played against an Ottoman in a 3v3. Me and the Ottoman were left alone to cook for awhile and then it turned into mass jans and great bombards vs my elephant archer combo. The bombards destroyed my archers instantly leaving the jans to one shot my elephants like they were nothing. Luckily the Ottoman gamer over extended into the back of my base trying to kill our trade to which my teammates destroyed his entire army while I sent all of my elephants into his base ending the game.

I've done well with ToV but lately I've been working more with dome of the faith lately for situations where I know I will be forced into castle. It works really well, and I can get the upgrades signficantly faster for a decent sized army and also have all these scholars to get healing going immediately. I guess it boils down to what I'm up against. I love village fortresses though it'd be nice if it kicked in just a little faster. This will sound silly too, but I've also been trying out slowrolling my imperial age up, using like 2 vils. it gives me time to pop cap my army, so when they come in ready to attack, assuming I'll be defenseless, I'm not.

I love Dehli but damn those MAA walk through my army if they get castle early

Here’s an idea. What if ONLY unit promotions researched like other civs, including cost? They can get a research speed boost from a garrisoned scholar too.

It would be cool if you had the option to pay for the unit upgrades and get them faster, or just wait and get them for free. Like a mongol improved tech

been playing them a lot lately, i feel like elephants should ignore unit collision and maybe add a small trample dmg for walking through units if we want to be realistic ;)

Delhi's biggest weakness is the castle 🏰🏯 age and imperial age landmarks are so bad. They don't do anywhere near as much as the good castle age and imperial age landmarks. Otherwise they could just continue pressure into later ages no problem. Though the landmarks in this game, especially in Castle and Imperial are nowhere close to balanced. This does not tend to matter much as you can usually win in feudal or deal enough damage to counteract the landmark disadvantage, especially being able to research siege engineering without resources invested and being able to take sacred sites. But it is annoying. The landmarks should probably have a great deal of rebalancing. I think the underwhelming landmarks should be buffed, because it would likely make for a more fun 🥳🥳🥳 late-game than everyone being starved of resources with the good landmarks being nerfed. While it is okay to have some civs have stronger late games, they shouldn't be so overwhelmingly strong the matchup feels inevitable if it goes to late Imperial age. Also, back to Delhi. It is weird that Delhi and the HRE are treated as being super religious in game seemingly only because of their names. Sure, both got involved in religion, but so did *every* nation at the time. The HRE might be have a title connected with religion, but the East Francia nation which the HRE came from only had that title to reclaim a title made by Charlemagne and/or his supporters, rather than because it wanted to invent a holy image for itself on its own.

I like playing dehli. When should you go for attack opponent and when just go for sacred sites win?

I didn't like playing aoe4 till I started playing as Delhi.

Is there any dome of faith build order?

How about Delhi can instantly tech for 150% or maybe even 200% of the regular tech-cost. This gets procentually reduced with how much time you already teched/invested. For example, let's assume it's 200% of the regular costs and you go for elite MAA, which would normally cost 300F & 400G, but for you 600F & 800G, and it would normally take you 60s x 12, so 720s (without any scholars). If you already teched for 180s but suddenly you get rushed and need it now, you could buy it for "only" 450F & 600G. It would make waiting for the tech still more lucrative, but you still have the option to sacrifice a lot of recourses to get it faster depending on how long you already teched it.
