There's a industrial glue called g6000 that I use with heat shrink with two wires put a drop on both sides of wires close to connector squeezes out perfectly when shrinking seals great neat looking.

American Autowire Battery Cable Crimping Tool 500665, is another budget option for crimping batter cable terminals. It requires a vice but it's cheap. Saves some money.
I'm glad you stated you prefer the heat gun for heat shrink. I almost said something lol. It's just never a good idea to use a lighter or torch for heat shrink. Bad habits.
